DVD for cats

Toro looking at the DVD that I had bought for the amigos in January

I had bought this DVD for the amigos early in the year and had played it for the kitties but no one was interested to watch it as the TV was far too high up for them on the old pedestal. Now that we have a bigger TV on a low table, the amigos more able to watch the goings on.

Close-up of the DVD

It contains 1 hour worth of all manner of animals flitting and crawling past the screen. If there are birds, there would be frantic chirping sounds. The repertoire included fish, mice, birds, spiders, ants etc. The advisory states that you should watchwith your cat the first time he watches the DVD as he might try to paw at the screen. That was what I had intended to do anyway as I do not know how they would react.

Bujang batting mice on TV

Bujang climbed onto the table first when he saw the mice popping out from the holes. He pawed at them several times and sniffed at the screen. He played tag with the mice which was amusing to watch. I think he also enjoyed it as he stayed for the whole time the mice was on screen.

Toro waiting for Bujang to get bored so he would get his chance...

Toro knew better than to get up the table when Bujang was on it. He had to move left and right as Bujang obscured his view of the screen several times when he was following the mice sequence :) But he was very patient with Bujang's fascination.

Toro sniffing at a fluttering butterfly...

When his turn came, he immedietly tried to sniff at the butterfly and pawed at the screen gently.

Toro finding a vantage position to watch the goings on more comfortably...

He watched several sequences of ants and a tarantula that came walking slowly across the screen. Then he figured out the best place from which he could watch everything that was going on. He's a pretty smart kitty.

I didn't play the tape for the whole 1 hour- ony the first 15 minutes. I figured it might lose its novelty if I play it for a longer time. So I may put it on for the amigos next week. :)
