Monday Mood

I am too cool for this
On Saturday, she decided to sit on the bed as it was fresh linen day. I was curious to see why she was in and out of the bedroom all afternoon and so decided to see what she was up to. And here she was. She is a kitty who can stare down a lion!

I decided that she was ready to go outside. We had posted about this yesterday but I thought it would be nice to have something in video as well. For a first timer, in a walking jacket, she did very well. My other cats took a few days (except Tanaka who took to it like a fish to water) to learn how to walk with harness before they graduated to a walking jacket. When Fern asked about it she said:

"I had been walking and running outside a lot all these years" so it felt strange.I told her this is how your mummy helps you to see things outside so you won't get bored. Then I asked her why she tried to get away. She said she thought she could. I told her never to do that again as it scares everyone and she is safe in the house. She said she knew.

Note: She has weekly Reiki as well with Fern. I hope to get her to feel better and more in tune with the amigos. So she gets to talk to Fern weekly as well. Its like having your own psychiatrist. :). As with everyone else, she has monthly sessions with Craig.

Easy Peasy Sunday

This week was relatively peaceful. We spent it just hanging around in the house and sometimes we spent it outside. The days were very hot sometimes and san got a little short of breath because of the haze but we were fine. Akira spent one or two afternoons outside , sitting on san's lap. She had taken to doing this ever since Putih scared her the first time and she took refuge with san outside. My brother Tanaka had been trying to behave himself better. San said he did very well this week with leaving Putih alone. I could see that he tried his best. It was only my sister Akira who still has a great fear of Putih still. I on the other hand had taken everything in my stride.

I am sure you are surprised to see Putih in my old red harness. Yesterday san decided to take her for a walk along the corridor. The only difficult thing was putting her in the harness as it was a two-woman job. But after that she took to walking in the harness very easily. I thought we might show you more pictures of her in the harness.

She wanted to go straight upstairs to where the bird sounds came from but san said she must not catch any birds. Anyway our upstairs neigbour already told san that he has a parrot and he thinks we would scare it if we walk up there. However, later in the evening she started to climb up the cat seats near the window and wanted to get outside. Then she screamed and tried to go through the grills wanting to be outside. She did this the first  two weeks she was here to recuperate from the wounds but yesterday she went on and  on. San thought maybe walking outside reminded her of her old life and the outside that she loved.
I told san that we should end the post with a nice picture of me as I was the only one who remained calm and collected throughout the whole week that we have been coping with Putih. I think she is an ok kitty and it is good that she is here. It would be hard on her if she is outside on her own. It rained the whole of yesterday and last night there was thunder. I was a little afraid of that and spent the night under the table but other than that, I think I was very brave.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Thursday thoughts

The calm that lasts almost 5 minutes...sometimes...
I decided to allow the boys to hang out in the corridor as it was too hot to do anything else. Bujang and Tanaka took the chance and enjoyed looking at grandma's plants and sitting about. They were not even anxious when one of the neighbours walked past and just looked at her curiously. I told Bujang that we would not be going down for a walk today as I was rather tired from work. So Bujang took his time outside :) and I was glad that I was able to allow him this space.
After about 40 minutes, Tanaka decided he had quite enough of the corridor and came in by himself. Bujang sayed outside until I decided it was time to go in as it was 30 minutes to dinner time:)
Toro wore his harness but decided to stay in instead. He sat wth me for a while near the grills but could not be persuaded to go outside. Since megat showed some interest in the corridor, I told him he has to get into a harness. So today was the first time he felt a harness on himself. He immediately sat down and did not know how to move but he did not protest. maybe I should try to harness train him eventhough he is about 12 to 13 years old. He might like hanging around the corridor as it is safer than the open sapces :)

I'm too sexy for my harness

The model complete with jazzy rhinestoned collar and pink bell...
accessorize, accessorize, accessorize...

Too much?

A close-up of the spiffy harness - black stripes on orange fur..grrrr...

Can you get this off me now? Have you had enough san?

The tired model catching some shut eye before his next engagement...

Aunty_p came by today to return this harness to the amigos as it didn't fit Coco all that well. I decided to try to put The Rocket in it as it was just lying there on the table. Tanaka did not protest and allowed me to put the harness on him. It is of course too big for the little guy and I had to wind it around him pretty tightly. He looked quite cute in it. I think its because he is ginger and he looks like a little tiger :)
It's also good for his harness training as I know that he would take a walking jacket quite well. Btw aunty_p, IKEA has a figure 8 black harness with rhinestones. Maybe Coco would like it :)

Tanaka showing off his harness...

It was one of those few rare sunny days in December. I thought Toro would enjoy being out in the corridor after all that rain. Then I had a brainwave. Why not get Tanaka out too? He is now big enough to get into a harness and he is ONLY 3 months! Bujang was 5 months before he was big enough to get into a harness.
I got one of the old 8-harnesses that I still had and got Tanaka in it. He struggled a bit and jumped about like a rabbit. Then he saw Toro walking about calmly smelling the plants and generally hanging out. He watched Toro for a bit and decided that he too can do the cool walking bit....and he did :)
He spent about 15 minutes outside before the harness bothered him and so I took it off him and put him back in his cage. All in all I think Tanaka did very well. He had big bruffers to show him the way...which is always useful. That was how he learnt to drink from the CAT-IT, to use the big litter bins and to climb onto the cat gym. The rest of it he did himself.
Well Done Rocket!
