Megat's Sunday ruminations

Megat looking good on Sunday...

Megat's constant companion...

I have a red tiger. It belongs to me. It is mine :) I need it when I go to sleep at night and sometimes in the afternoon when I wait for san to come back. The kitties do not play with it as they know it is mine. I know I am 10 years old and have some problems with my kidneys but.... a cat is still a kitty no matter what. :)

I am also glad I am with the kitties although I do not like them much, especially the one called Ms Akira. She thinks she is BOSS but one of these days... The big fat cat san calls Bujang is not such a bad cat. He leaves me alone. I like chasing him and watching him run...hahaha. But now he is smarter and runs after me instead. The grey cat with the hair is called Toro. He is very friendly and a little afraid of me. But we are friends.

I like it here as I sleep all day and get food on a platter. Also san lets me sit on her for long hours. I am not afraid of her at all and grandma is nice. She lets me sit on her lap when Big Toro is not around. I think I like it here in our amigo home. Yeah.

Nap

Zzzzz.....

Zzzz...

The boys decided that it was better to nap than to wait for Megat to finish playing with Da Bird. It was the best use of their energy :) Toro got the whole bed to himself while Bujang decided to test nap the new bed that I had bought for Megat. Megat did not know what to make of the bed and so Bujang took over. He is the only cat that understands how to use these beds :)

I bought the bed so that Megat would have something to call his own. All his stuff, except his red tiger, are just hand -me-downs from the rest of the kitties. But he is doing well here with us and so I guess he is used to it already.

Megat and the toy

Ms Akira looking fed-up with...

Megat's obsession with...

Da Bird. Once he has his claws on it, no one else

can get into the action.

Sunday sees Megat monopolising Da Bird...as usual. Ms Akira decided to watch from a safe distance while Megat pranced and jumped and raced after the lure. The rest of the kitties decided to take a nap while Megat gets crazy.

Little Calico aka Manja. OK- Minah is the name

Manja waiting bravely for the aunty...

Showing off...

Am I pretty...

I was an acrobat in my other life....

The aunty was lamenting the fact that Calico has no name that was easy to call. So I thought a good name for her is Manja as she is really a manja cat. She likes nothing better than rolling about, stretching and being scratched behind her ears and under her chin after dinner. I took these pictures on saturday night as she was waiting for the aunty to feed her. When she saw me, she came to say hello and to show off her pretty self in various poses. These pictures are rather blurry and do not do justice to her beauty really. She has healed very well and show no sign of her harrowing experience. But she no longer waits for me in the morning for breakfast. I guess she has learnt that not every human being is a friend :(
PS: I thought Minah would be a better name for Little Calico as Manja sounds so much like the 'pontianak' [malay vampires with wild hair and equally bad make-up] movies of my childhood.

Cat Abuse

Little Calico in happier times...

On Monday the aunty told me that she found Little Calico sitting quietly in little tricycle in the void deck. But she was not eating nor moving well. So I went with her to look for Little Calico and indeed she looked very sick. We tried to put her in my carrier (I had released Putih earlier cos she was quite well and raring to go) but she sprang to life and scratched me. Aiyoh! She tried to run and we both tried to catch her again but to little success. She hid in the drain and refused to come out. I saw her limping quite badly before she disappeared.

The aunty was very worried and was afraid that the little kitty would die. :( But I told her that as long as she can eat a little, it would mean that she was not at her death-bed and it could be that she might just be limping. We suspected that the boy who tried to kidnap her might be the culprit and he might have hurt her as well as tried to pull her about!! So we decided to leave it for the night and she how she was the next day. I told the auntie that if she was worse, I would bring her to the vet the next day.

Tonight however, the aunty reported that Little Calico ate a lot of fish and she was walking about with a slight limp. She said she was very glad that the kitty came to dinner and she was trying to get the kitty to exercise her leg. We have decided to wait until tomorrow and hope that by then she would be well. If not we will have to catch her (!!) and send her to the vet, after which she will have to stay in Little Megat's cage for a bit. Megat's cage is becoming quite useful these days.

WildBunch

from google

cat_aunty sent us a pic of cats relaxing. This looks like what megat always tries to do to me except I am always on my back. so he massages my stomach and sometimes my ribs instead :) Megat is a very industrious masseuse. This also reminds me that I have not been to a spa in a long while.

Sunday is always apeaceful day in our household but just now at about 8, the auntie knocked on my door and told me quite angrily that she just stopped a young boy from trying to catnap Little Calico. It seemed that he had snagged her collar and was trying to drag her. Little Calico was screaming and by the time the aunty arrived, she had scooted under the drain. The boy ran off of course leaving his plastic-spiral thingee. It's what young kids have these days. The plastic spiral is usually attched to some soft toy which the kid puts in their pockets!

So even though the collar is good for identifiaction and it has a number to call, we decided it would probably be best for the wild bunch if they have no collars for now as all their collars have the habit of disappearing. I think the kid may have wanted only the collar and not the cat. Since the collar is a snap-on, its pretty safe for Little Calico.

I am afraid Putih has a little fever. Her ears are a little hot so I won't be releasing her on Monday. The best plan is to keep her until her fever subsides and so the earliest date for release is Wednesday although she is making a lot of noise and does not like to be confined at all. The auntie can also make it for the release on wednesady which is good since Putih recognises her.

Real estate

No Flying Hyena here...

Megat found another place to hide in this morning instead of in Ms Akira's castle. He stayed in here only for a bit but as long as he knows he can hide in here, I think he would come here again and leave Ms Akira's castle alone for the time being.

Let me out....

Putih looking at me after her unsuccesful pleas to be let out...

Taking a rest...

Falling asleep...zzz

Putih made non-stop pleas the whole of yesterday and even now to be let out. Like Megat, she has worked out how to unlatch the door to the cage and has since taken walks in the bathroom. She is pretty affectionate and I think she much prefers being scritched than eating. She eats one small tin of fish in the morning and half a tin at night. She doesn't eat anything else in between. I think that is how she keeps herself so trim :) I thought it best if I put a cat-safe collar on her so people knows she has someone who takes care of her. In this way, I hope that if someone is unhappy with Putih, he/she would find her caregiver (the aunty) and speak with her before doing anything drastic. She is really too pretty to be let out and her affectioante temperament would make her a good pet.

The aunty says it is usually the case around here that someone would take a pretty cat in once it has been sterilised by someone else. It seems that it has happened several times. I told her in that case then it is okie as it is better if someone takes care of the kitty than to leave it to fate.

What's that?

Bujang's stare could bring down anything!

Toro catching sight of the intrusion into his peace...

Trying to get a better view...

Sitting pretty to catch the show...

It's the green birdie show especially for kitties...

Toro did not make any move to get closer to the bird at all. He was more curious to see what was going to happen. the little bird hopped from one green stem onto another, quite oblivious of the cat that was near him. I guess he knows the cat was on a leash and so it was safe to perform. The bir even twittered a little before bidding us farewell.

Toro wore his new tiger-striped jacket. It's lighter and he didn't slink his way very much. A few more walks and I hope he would walk as straight as Bujang or Ms Akira in their jackets.

Lingzhi

Lingzhi? I don't like it...

I have been giving Megat some lingzhi to get his immune sysytem up to speed. Dr Su said that it might help him get much stronger. He doesn't like it much so I have to put it in his NB canned tuna. He usually gets NB Indoor Cats to mix with his Waltham Renal but I found that the tuna works better with the lingzhi. He has to be in his carrier with his dinner bowl and only then would he finish it up. He takes half a capsule a day and he has been on it for 4 days already. I suppose its too early to tell how it affects him.

I hope that there will be no bad news about NB canned food unlike the dry kibble Venison and Pea combo . I also read that all this might actually be a case fraud from the link at tipped-ear clan's blog instead of an accident! Why would anyone want to kill pets?

The Flying Hyena

Victory!

This is mine and don't ya furrget it!

Ms Akira unleashed her hyena-like fury on Megat on Friday morning. Megat was sitting behind the curtains near this cat tree minding his own business. Ms Akira spied him from under the bedcovers and prompty unleashed a blood-curling yell - YEOWWORRRrrr and she leapt from the bed to land on the chest. It scared Megat so much that he just stood rooted. Ms Akira then showed him HER Shaolin Fists of Fury!! Megat did not try to fight back and scooted into his carrier. Its a pity I did not manage to catch the furious-as-lightning Kung-fu moves but at least I got these 2 pics of Ms Akira regaining her throne. Megat should really know better than try to get on her case all the time.

A family that rests together...

Picture perfect kitties

Ms Akira, "No Megat that is why..."
Bujang's flying kitty stance....

Toro is too sleepy to think up kung-fu moves for the camera...

This must be one of those near perfect pictures where everyone (except megat) is at one place at the same time. This is pretty rare in the amigo house hold. You can see how pally Ms Akira is with Bujang here :) Megat was sitting quietly under the bed where he would be safe from the Flying Hyena or Ms Akira.

Cat advertising for pet food...

A most enterprising although shy feline...

I saw this cat when I was at the vets taking Putih home. She was very sweet-natured and took a great deal of interest in the goings-on that Thursday 19th April. I also saw that she was pretty enterpring herself and helped the pet shop people to advertise their services :) I wonder if they pay her for her excellent service.

Cleanliness is first no matter what...

Resting in the pm...

The auntie and I caught this white female on Wednesday night and I promptly brought her to the vet's. She was heavy with kittens but I thought it best that I take her when I can catch her instead of waiting for another time. By then I might not even be able to get her and she may have many more litters which no one can take care of. She had had 2 litters already but the auntie said she could not find them and once she saw some kids playing with a little kitty. They told her they were bringing the kitty home. I hope they did just that :( and not abuse the kitty or leave it in some alien place.

I had booked some boarding for Putih (white) at Mutts and Mittens and wanted to take her on Friday after she has rested from the spaying but the vet said it would be better for me to see that she was alright before I put her there. So she is still with me and stays in Megat's old cage and grandma's bathroom. At least in the bathroom she could walk about a little.

She is getting quite frisky and has since jumped into the washbasin once in the morning. She doesn't not bother her stitches at all and they looked very secure. She doesn't seem to be in pain at all as she is very alert and I think she wants out. The people at the vet said I could release her after 3 days. I will see if I can do this by next Monday when I feed the WildBunch.

The vet said she is only 12 months old!

Woe is me

Finish already!

Falling asleep...zzzz

For reasons best known to herself, Ms Akira threw herself on the computer table and stayed put for close to 10 minutes napping. She has never done this before. I am wondering if she is taking up dramatics :)

In sympathy

Sleeping off his fever...

Ms Akira actually sitting with Toro.... and me...

Bujang's usual sunday afternoon nap...

Megat giving everyone a break...

Toro had his annual vaccination on the 15th. he weighed 5.11 kg. :) Not much diffrent from last year. He behaved very well and he was out from the vet's office under 20 minutes. When I brought him home, he raced out of the carrier after the treat that I gave him for being so brave at the vet's. After about one hour he decided to sleep his experience away and Ms Akira actually came into the room to be with us. :) I would like to think that she was giving Toro some company but to tell the truth, its because Megat was sleeping on the bed and she had to find another refuge :))

Toro still has a little fever today. His paws are not hot but his ears feel a little hot. Grandma reported that he ate his food and he walked about the house as usual this morning. I am glad he was feeling better.

Bujang Correspondent

Gimme some food san..some food..some food...

We had some furry purty new jackets last week. I gots a black letherette one like them guys in Orange County Choppers. WOHOO! The other kitties gots some colourful ones. They are purty too but ehem..I must say... mine is better. San made them try their jackets and took their pikshurs and of course she has put them here.

Yesterday ST came by and gave san some capsules of cracked lingzhi mushrooms for the crazee black cat Megat. I am glad I don't have to eats them capsules cos they look B_I_G. But I hopes Megat would get better (eventhough I do not like him much) I remembered san telling grandma that his V_E_T says its good that he tries them.

This Sunday Toro is going to the V_E_T for his vaksination. OK vaccination. (Are you happy san?) Hahaha. I think after that he would not be so greedy to eat my food. I hope he does not feel much pain though. I do not like vaksi...vaccinations myself.

Ms Akira is with san at the puter. She doesn't like Megat. Sitting with san means Megat would not dare to try to beat her up. She is very clever :)

How to sit with grandma 101

Toro watching TV with grandma...

Move #01 - get closer and put paw on lap...

Move #02- Get up and walk deliberately on lap so grandma will help...

Move #03- Look at grandma's face. She cannot resist your cute looks and baby blue eyes...

Move #04- Sit with half of you at the edge of the seat. Grandma would hold you and pet you to sleep.

FINAL MOVE: Close your eyes and take a nap. No one would disturb you and you can rest for as long as you want. :))

Routine

Bujang getting comfortable on the TV table where its warm and cosy...

When is it my turn?

Bujand and Toro were both eager to get onto the TV table to look at the rest of the world. The boys like the little space right in front of the TV as it allows them to either watch TV, watch the goings on in the living room, bask in the warmth from the TV or catch any other kitty unawares. Since Bujang got the place first, Toro had no choice but to sit and watch. :)

I am watching you

Toro sitting on the bed and keeping close watch...

and he watches very closely too...

Megat sitting quietly after dinner snack...just in case ...

Toro came up on the bed and suddenly sat close to the bed railings yesterday. I was quite surprised as he would usually sing a little sharp ditty, get on the bed and then we would have a little game of "What is under the blanket" before he settles in for the night or before Bujang and he would have their usual rumbunctious game of hide and seek.

He sat quite still and no matter what I did, he did not waver in his attention. Then I saw he was watching Bujang trying to steal Shaolin Megat's snack through the mesh.:)

This went on for a few more minutes until Bujang was fed up and Megat went to rest under the covered part of his carrier. For the last few weeks, I have put Megat in his favourite green carrier so he would spend the night with the boys. Megat seems to like this arrangement as he is very comfortable in it and he does not make a fuss about being let out in the morning.

However, it would still be a one or two months more before I let Megat sleep with the boys without the carrier as the boys are still unsure about him. :)
