Thankful Tuesday

Minah this morning...bright and cheery

I have many things to be thankful for this Tuesday. I thought I should make a list-

i. Minah ate 3 shares of Orijen biscuits this morning. She was okay last night at dinner but I was afraid that this morning she might feel the cold in her bones. But when she saw me out of the lift, she immediately greeted me and asked for food (as usual). She ate her first share quickly so I gave her some more. I sat with her while she was eating as it was already 7.15 am and many children were walking to school. I was afraid that they would make a dash for her or disturb her breakfast.

ii. The amigos are safe and sound as usual :). I gave Tanaka and Bujang some juicy grass and they were happy.

iii. Work was not too bad and I had managed to complete 1/3 of an appraisal report. This was a good thing as I know the rest would be easy.

iv. The rest of the Wild Bunch - FatBoy, Putih and Billy Boy are all okay. Casanova (the black and still unneutered male cat) had made his appearance after many months. I was afraid something terrible had happened to him but he appeared looking healthy although thinner. Casanova is a very smart cat as he has no fixed schedule with us and I'm sure he has no fixed schedule with the other caregivers as he is still not neutered after so long.

So for all these things I am grateful.:))

Casanova unveiled

The very male Casanova who sometimes comes to dinner

I finally got a picture of Casanova in daylight. He is quite a magnificent green-eyed full Tom with a soft voice. He seems to be quite fearful of FatBoy and would try to hide from him, without much success I must say as FB would always smell him out and then I would have quite a choir with FB singing solo. So I would have to get him to sit someplace else so I can get him something to eat. He does not have a fixed time-table with us but I see him once or twice in a week, sometimes none. I thought I would have only 3 to look after once Megat is with me but it seems now I may have 31/2 cats :)

Casanova making his way home...pass the infamous carpark

I don't really know if Casanova stays in this infamous carpark where Megat used to stay or Screaming Banshee as was. The Man told me he has seen Casanova and Screaming Banshee yelling at each other once upon a time. I do not go to this carpark nowadays as Screaming Banshee is now living with us as Shaolin Megat :))

Until the next time...

ST (the TC contact) told me that indeed there were many complaints about the 'nuisance' black cat in the carpark, from drivers to cleaners to environment officers. It seems they have been trying to catch it but they have been unsuccessful. ST also told me that if I had released SB back to the carpark, it was only a matter of time before they send the AVA as essentially there is nothing much that can be done if we cannot 'rehabilitate' a cat. The defecation complaints range from poo-ing on the floor to car bonnets. ST said he was suspicious of such reports of cats poo-ing on bonnets as am I. That can only be human mischief.

I hope Casanova would not be the next victim.

One more day

SB with her collar

I wanted to put this collar on Calico Mom tonight but Her Skirtish Highness refused to allow me to do it. She kept moving away and so I gave up and let her eat her dinner in peace. Casanova came from the recesses of the carpark to the great disgust of FB. I was glad FB decided not to challenge Casanova as he would surely lose because Casanova was like Goliath to his David. Casanova still did not trust me so I had to move away once I put some food for him in a white bowl although he did allow me to top up his bowl with more biscuits. By the time Casanova finished his food, both FB and Calico Mom had disappeared.

I expected SB to have disappeared too as it was rather late but to my surprise I saw her sitting by the stairs waiting for me. That was altogether unexpected and totally dangerous for her. Usually by this time, she would have made herself scarce and would come again when she hears my keys. Anyway I gave her more food and waited for her to finish. It was at this time that I decided to put the collar on her just to see if she would allow me to. She protested at first and jumped in surprise but after a few tries, I finally managed to put the collar on her. It was too big as it was Bujang's collar really. She needed one of Akira's collars.

Then as advised by M, I tried to lift her off the ground several times. She came close to me and tried to hide behind the food bag but she did not try to bite me nor protest. I wiped her down as usual and even managed to clean her ears but not so thoroughly. She behaved like the amigos when I try to do that. Crouch as low as possible with the ears flat on the head :) Then she followed me up the stairs quietly. She did not try to follow me out of the carpark, which was quite a relief but as I walked home, I turned back and saw her sniffing at the grass patch outside the carpark. Then I saw her sit on the grass. I hope she will be ok until tomorrow when she would be going to the vet.

Its cat-ching

Yup. This is so much better.

This is Toro's new TV-watching position. He realises I guess that its so much more comfortable lying on your stomach and not to mention that it is further from the TV. This puts to rest grandma's worries about eye-strain and wearing glasses. :)

Ohoh..where's the man?

Now I think I may have 2 Tv addicts on my hands. Bujang was so taken by The Amazing Race Asia that he decided to watch it. He didn't seem to realise that half of him was over the table! Once Toro did this and fell off, until he found a new position (above).

I may have to send our new 26" TV back as it is chopping off the top of people's heads as well as chopping off the subtitles. The people at the store said they would send a repairman asap or at worst bring back the TV if its faulty. I wonder if the boys will have TV withdrawals. :)

I didn't see Casanova tonight. I did try to look for him but decided not to look far as I have to see if SB was still at the stairs. Since she is going to the vet on Wed, I have to get her used to me touching her. She has very sharp, very white nails for a cat who sits in the carpark. I saw her still eating her bowl of fish and when I came near, she stopped eating and said hello. I gave her the last of the food that was in FB's bowl. Then I took some cat wipes and wiped her down. Her coat was not as greasy as before and as usual she allowed me to wipe her face. I even decided to wipe under her stomach. This means I actually have to turn her about, although I did not lift her up off the floor at all because that would be cutting it a bit fine.

After the wipe down, she insisted on winding around my legs until we went up to the 1st level of the carpark. She did not allow me to leave easily so I had to stand by her and then had to apologise to the carpark users as we were in their way. They did not say anything but just looked at us queerly. Finally SB decided to sit close to my feet. I had to debate whether I should sit until she leaves but as it was getting late, I decided to leave once she quietened down. SB just stayed where she was as she looked at me leaving the carpark. I hope she left soon after.

One more to the Wild Bunch

I am bigger than you are!

This evening I decided to get the amigos a family badge from catster. It took me some time to register and then get all the amigos' pictures up. One good thing is they also provide you with a link to a site where you can resize your pics for free. Quite a cool link for a techno- phobe like me. So I finally got the pictures that I want for the badge. It looks quite nice and for once I can see the amigos all at once. :)

The evening feed for the Wild Bunch took much longer than usual. After feeding all the four cats, i thought I should look for Casanova. He was not under any of the parked vans but I saw the slip of his tail swinging in the distance. So after saying goodbye to FB, I went in search of Casanova. I caught up with him as he was on his way up the stairs towards the playground. I called him and showed him the white food bowl. At first he just stared at me and then he made his way slowly down the steps. He did not trust me at all so he waited for me to go away before he even ate anything. I had to remove his bowl twice as he was in the way of many epople who seemed to be rushing off somewhere.

I waited for him ashort distance away but realised he was still hungry as he kept trying to pull out bits of food with his paw. I thought that was quite smart. So I gave him a full handful of biscuits which he ate enthusiatically yet daintily. He allowed me to go near him as I thought I would get his food in the bowl in order so it would be easier for him to eat. After he had his fill, he just moved on slowly up the stairs to wherever it was that he wanted to get to in the first place.

As I was walking home, i saw FB sitting and relaxing on the stone table at Calico Mom's void deck. He looked very happy and confident and so I left him alone and went home. It was a good night but I guess now I have 5 mouths to feed.
