Spiffy Sunday

A well-brushed face and...

a shiny coat makes for...

for a handsome kitty...

The strange thing about the amigos is that ONLY Megat likes being brushed. He will come for brushing when he sees another kitty being put through these paces. I am amazed that he would sit for long brushing sessions. None of the other kitties would tolerate more than 1 minute at least or if it is Bujang, he would bite as soon as he feels the brush on him. Toro does not like being brushed and that is part fo the reason that he gets his fur trimmed close once in 3 months at least. If he allowed me to brush him thoroughly I would not get him trimmed so closely but matted fur is not really the thing to have in a long-haired kitty.

Sunday surprise

Bujang and Toro sleeping amicably on the same mattress..woah...

A closer view of the battling duo...

It was a nice surpise to see these two sleeping so quietly together on the same mattress. This has happened so infrequently that it never ceases to surprise me. These two have an uneasy friendship, with bouts of slapping (at dinner time and night time) interspersed with short periods of calm.

Sunday morning

Tanaka on the alert for more noises from the camera...

Ho hum..there are no birds out this morning..it being so hot...

Tanaka successfully spent all last night outside of his night cage. I thought after the bath, he should at least get one night away from sleeping in his litter. It went quite well except for Toro who protested again and again when Tanaka slept too near him. Tanaka likes sleeping on Toro's blanket. much to Toro's disgust. I left them alone to settle it. In the middle of the night, I saw that Toro had moved onto Bujang's blanket and Tanaka was asleep on his. Bujang was asleep right smack in between them :) Bujang did spend some time hiding out in case Tanaka decided to jump on him. I guess in the middle of the night, they sorted their sleeping arrangements pretty well by themselves. I hope this would be the case tonight too and by the end of next week, I should be able to dispense with the night cage. *cross fingers*

1st time at the groomers...

Tanaka took to F rather well. He did not scream nor shout in the cab that brought him to EW. He behaved very well and was quiet on the way home. I had thought of trying to bathe him myself but I decided to bring him as I was bringing Toro to F. His fur was growing longer and these days the heat must be plaguing him as well.
I think Tanaka got really tired and he slept right after dinner. His fur smells clean and sweet and grandma was very pleased. But I think his love for sleeping on his litter will undo all that. :(

Grooming Saturday

WOW! Blog of the Week

You don't say..lemme see the message san...be quick please...

Today we got mail of the very special kind... hehe...

Hi San,
Just a note that I've chosen Cat Tales as my Blog of the Week. You're featured on the main page of my blog today. Love your pictures!
Franny SyufyAbout.com Guide to Catshttp://cats.about.com/
So I went there and saw this. I am quite amazed and amazingly flattered that the amigos are now in about.com for Blog of the Week..hehe
Blog of the Week: Cat Tales
San lives in Singapore with five striking cats that she adopted from various places. The blog is loaded with great photos of these cats, which quite obviously receive excellent care from San. I like the fact that although they go outdoors, they are always on leashes, with handsome harnesses that appear to be similar to the Cat Walking Jacket.

Although the blog is not terribly newsy, one gets a feeling of connection with the short comments on pictures, interspersed with longer descriptions of their day-to-day life. We who live in the West sometimes forget that the world is full of loving, responsible catmoms and catdads. Cat Tales is a vivid reminder of that undeniable fact.
Thank you Fanny. There are many catmoms and catdads here for sure...

Its hot...and getting hotter by the day...

I don't care san...its too hot. Will there be rain soon you think?

Here Bujang is resting on grandma's bed. Grandma has gone to visit Sister N and so Bujang misses her some. Poor thing!

Sleep by any other name...

will be just as...

good...anywhere and anytime on a hot day...

Community Cat news

Blackie the adopted kitty...

I am glad to report that Blackie has settled very well with my friend who adopted him as a companion to her little siamese kitten Mooty. The only thing is Blackie is now firm friends with Moo Moo (Bujang's brother) and not with Mooty at all :)) So Mooty is still without a buddy although my friend has decided she could not in good conscience adopt anymore kittens. 3 is enough! The family calls him Blackie because this was the only name he responded to. She called him many names and he ignored her. Then she just tried 'Blackie'. Since he looked at her expectantly, she decided that this would be the name for him. I guess the old aunty and the people from the vide deck that I rescued him called him that. So Blackie he shall remain. I think he has found his forever home. :)

The Wildbunch or maybe the oh-so-fat bunch

The usual suspects - Fatboy, Minah, Cal or Parking and Putih

Cal eating Fussiecat with seeming nary a care....

Cal looking fine and clean these days. This was the side that she hurt before - there were two wounds made by car exhausts. We used the Illium and now it is as though the episode didn't even happen. She is more confident and waits for food patiently as always. She is now very fat!

Fatboy looking very macho...

Fatboy is getting more and more particular about what he eats. I remember the good ole days when he ate almost everything he was given. Now, his discerning palate does not like Tuna and Sardines. He does not like the big chunky sardines at all and prefer smaller bits where he does not have to use all that energy to open his mouth! Aiyoh!!!

Minah at dinner...

Minah does not hang out in the dingy carpark much, which explains why she is so clean. She hangs out in the void deck most times undisturbed by the residents. The residents like her alot as she has a sweet face and an even sweeter voice, although not when she is hungry...

Putih taking a break...

Putih, I am glad to say has a pristine white coat. She eats daintily and would groom herself immediately right after dinner before she plays for abit around the palms at the playground. She keeps to herself in the nearby primary school grounds therefore she is safe from rain and storms, not to mention strangers. The kids have not been feeding her indiscriminately and I can relax that no one is going to complain to the TC about her. She is a friendly kitty who has found a few friends where she is. I hope these friends would keep a look-out for her too.

The Visitor...

We do not have a name for this frequent visitor as yet as he is not part of the wildbunch. He is neutered and has a sweet disposition. He waits his turn respectfully as Fatboy really does not like him all that much. When the coast is clear, he darts to the food bowl quickly and disappears immediately after dinner. He is from 3 blocks away but knows when dinner time is for the wildbunch and hangs around for food. He is a very handsome big cat with a good-looking brownish-grey coat. I hope he does not adopt us and would go back to his own caregiver.

Thoughtful Tuesday

hmmmfff...zzzz....

Family time

Ms Akira decided she could do with some family time today...

Actually relaxing in the room, sitting next to Toro!

3 is family :)
I do not know if the Remedy has anything to do with her desire to be with others these days. She has frequently seeked them out as well as us and she would spend some time with us. She is also asking quite vocally for more attention and so we try our best to be with her, even if we have to sit with her on the kitchen floor.

Toro on Tuesday

Grrr...not again san...

Toro refuses to let go of the kitty mattress. No way grandma...you can't have it...

In a mellow mood in the late afternoon...purrrrrr....

Handsome or not eh?

Yes you are very handsome Bujang...

My sister has a theory as to why Bujang likes to sit infront of the TV so much. "He wants you to admire him," she said. My theory is that Bujang likes to sit in the midst of family life and on the TV console, he could remain undisturbed. :) Hmmmm......

Monday Madness

What's on the ceiling?

Today the painters did some painting on the exterior walls of the corridor. They pulled themselves up and down and sideways to the amazement of the amigos. Bujang and Toro had quite a time watching for any disturbances :)

Into the Unknown

Tanaka was very brave in his 1st attempt outside in harness yesterday 20th April. In this very blurry video from my oft dropped nokia, he only hesitated slightly before venturing on. He deserved a medal as none of the other boys even ventured this far on their 1st day out.

Hmm..more strange things

Tanaka was his own curious self when he scrutinised the bicycle without hesitation. Thank goodness nothing happened to the bicycle itself. I dread to think of what would happen if the bicycle fell on top of him.

Last Word on Sunday

Finally an entry!

I told san that its time to write the blog. She has been furry lazy but I said she needs to do somefing else other than werk. I told her she could write about many things that we did today and she did.

Sleepy Sunday

What will we do today?

The outside looks nice...

I wonder...
