Popsicle Poppy on Tuesday

Popps loves sitting at the now open window all the time. The breeze that comes through from here is sometimes warm but when I took this photo, it was after the morning rain and so it was a cool breeze that she enjoyed. Her face is still itchy, she tells Fern, but "it's not too bad."

I am trying out a set of new remedies for her from homeoanimal.com, recommended by the same people who had recommended the NHV herbal supplements. The only difficulty is the capsule that she has to take everyday. She does not like pills and would not take it neat, so I had to mix the contents with her l-lysine. This set is for 5 weeks, to be taken in different combinations. It for detoxification of her system. Bujang takes the same for his sneezing. The consultant told me that it would be a good beginning for him as we don't really know why he is sneezing. I don't want him on long-term antibiotics and so the both of them are taking the same set.

I really hope it works out for both.

Good For You Tanaka!

Leash training yesterday went quite well. He was very relaxed, relaxed enough to do this in his favourite pink tent. Sorry for the blurry pic.
What was more encouraging was when it was time for bed. Usually I would switch off the main lights in the house. This would signal to everyone that it was Rest&Relax time before bed and Tanaka would be in the bedroom by then. Last night I had switched off the lights and Akira, who was already outside sitting on top of the fridge, decided to go into the living room, blissfully unaware that Tanaka was still seated here. This is actually a blind spot and if you go from the kitchen to the living room and vice-versa, you would not be able to see around the corner.

Tanaka was seated here, in his harness and was actually quite relaxed and was just looking at her. He did not start up nor did he look hard at her at all. He just sat here. I was quite horrified and after a few seconds had the presence of mind to scoop him up and put him in the bedroom. The miracle was Tanaka just sat there.

I do not know if this was the result of the homeopathic Spirit Essence from Jackson Galaxy of My Cat from Hell fame. I had rubbed 4 drops onto his ears and fur. I had used the Bach Remedy before and although it did calm him down, it did not stop him from running at her at every chance.
The site says this-  In multi-animal situations, it seems there is always one bully who wants to be the boss and tell everyone else what to do. Bully Remedy reminds the "big cheese" that things are fine without needing to patrol everyone else, and that it is not necessary to dominate in order to live harmoniously.

Some guidelines
We recommend starting with 3 or 4 times a day, for 2 weeks. Once improvement is established, usually within 2-4 weeks, you can wean the animal off by gradually decreasing the frequency of administration. Adding a few drops to the drinking water as well as once-a-day administration will probably be adequate. Some animals may need to remain on essence treatment long term, and some may see resolution very quickly. We have also found that most animals will also benefit from long-term administration of a maintenance formula.

This morning, when he got out from the bedroom, he immediately went to the kitchen and did not climb onto the shelves to to put his paws into Akira's cage. Then he sat by the cat tent and did not look at her.

I am much encouraged as I had tried the Bully Remedy from other brands but this one seems to walk the talk. Of course it may be a coincidence and Tanaka may be too tired to run after her. I need to try it for the month first.

Have tail will swipe...

Take that!

Toro is growing more and more confident these days. Yesterday grandma said Megat chased him about but then Megat chaed everyone about it seems. So Megat was feeling fine :) This morning Toro stood firm and did not make way for Megat when Megat wanted to walk back to the living room after breakfast. Since he did not flinch or move away, Megat decided on the wiser choice - walked on~~~~ and ignored him.

It might be working...

Usual suspect #1
Unusual suspect #2

Tonight Toro and Tanaka chased after each other for about 20 minutes non-stop - in and out and in and out of the bedroom to the living room, up the table and from behind walls. Since the only thing that I had given Toro were the meds from petsalive - Kidney Support, UTI Free and Immunity and Liver Support, I have to conclude that they were instrumental in making Toro behave like the kitty he once was.

He has been on the vet meds for about 7 months, been through countless blood tests, one iPTH test and 2 USs and he did not behave like he did tonight. I know I may be jumping the gun and he may not get any better. My hope is that he does not get any worse but I can't help but be glad that he was racing about tonight. Really Glad.

I can only attribute it to the new supplements I had given him.

petsalive for the amigos

The bottles comes bubble wrapped quite tightly but I have to open each one to see what was in it.
UTI for Totoro and PetCalm for Akira.

I put the granules for UTI in Toro's food morning and evening. He eats his food quite willingly even when the granules are quite obvious. I think they are tasteless and odourless. Or maybe his food just smells too strong for the meds. I put the PetCalm in Akira's water bowl and food.
These two bottles are for Totoro and Megat. I decided to give one each to the both of them. I am not giving Megat the Milk Thistle liquid extract as he HATES it and would spit it out every day. He takes the capsules better. I tasted the Kidney Support first as I have to give him 2-3 drops with some water. It doesn't taste bad and I give Toro some papaya or pumpkin immediately after so he does not revolt on me.
This is supposed to be for Akira but I have yet to give her these capsules. I may not be to give them to her at all as she hates eating pills and it would stress her out even more. So I am giving it instead to Megat as his fur is getting thinner and am thinking of giving Toro one too. I would give it to Bujang if I dare but of course I am such a coward when it comes to pilling him :)

I must say that after I gave Toro the Kidney formula I had noticed some change in him. I read from the site that the people who gave their cats the Kidney support were all pleased as their cats had better appetites and appear more lively. This has happened to Toro also. he now eats quite alot of canned food and have been spending the days sprawled across the living room floor. Yesterday I saw him standing his ground when Megat wanted to scare him. Before he would flinch and move away and seeing that Megat would fly at him almost immediately. After he stared calmly at Megat, Megat decided to abandon the idea. So maybe there is some good in these remedies. It is too soon to make a judgement though. I have given him the remedies for about one week only.

As the vets said there was nothing they could do for his oxalate crystals I decided that I should do something about them myself. If I can't help him get rid of it, I can at least make his system much stronger so when he has to fight for his life, he would be able to do so. At least THAT is my hope for the both of them.

Ms Akira's Sunday morning

This is what I have been giving Ms Akira for about 3 weeks. It has Active valerian, chamomile, hops, passion flower, skull cap, Inert deionized water, fructos, sodium benzoate. Ms Akira seems to have benefitted from it as she is indeed a little calmer. I suppose its sweet with the fructose. She seems to like her water and drinks enthusiastically when I put her to bed. Her water bowl is in the cage with her. She drinks just as enthusiastically with the Bach Remedy too. Possibly Aggression may not be the right one :).

A little spying...
A little resting ...

A little vogue-ing...

A little meditation...

Ms Akira spent her Sunday morning close enough to the living room, laying about with family. She is looking a little thin although she still about 4 kg at her last weigh-in. Her bouts of 'garang'-ness is few and far between these days. She has been calm time even when Tanaka or Megat crosses her path, although the boys cross her path cautiously.
