Ms Akira's window adventures

Sunday Morning lookout...

Tread carefully Ms Akira...
Ms Akira contemplating the outside....

Ms Akira wanted to see what was going on outside but without having to step outside to do it :) She loves watching at the window especially when the grills are opened too. She would be the first one to jump onto the cat tree and if she was not, she would beat the one before her. Her persistence usually wins the day.

  1. Miss Akira won't jump out? Would it not be safer if she is leashed?

  2. I am always with them when the grills are opened so its ok lah. She is too scared to jump out. In this pic I am right outside this window :)

  3. Glad that all kitties are looking good. Bujang looks slimmer in the first picture. Lost weight ah, Bujang?

BTW San, how many times do you feed the cats a day, since you only give 40g of dry food for 3 cats? That seems very little if you follow feeding guidelines on the dry food packaging, no?

  4. Actually they eat 3 times a day as along as I keep it to about 60 to 80 grammes.

So 40/3 grammes for the whole day 9am to about 12 pm. Then they play or sleep the day away.

I feed them canned food for dinner. Bujang gets 2 teaspoons (this works out to about 10 to 15 g) and tunabelly gets 1, Akira gets about than 10 grammes cos she is a small eater. Now Tunabelly gets a little more as he gets hungrier after running about in the evening.

For night snack, they all get 10 g of kibble to last until morning 9 am.

The boys get 6 treats (Friskies) in the am before I go to work. I try to work the treats into the diet.

I think this works out better for the amigos. I have not rationed out Megat's diet yet. He has slowed down his food intake a little though.

I see. Megat must be putting on weight.
I think dry kibble is more dense in nutrients than wet food, so I consider 10g of wet food to be equivalent to say, about 5g of dry kibble (bec of all the moisture).

For Snowy and Coco (almost 1 yrs old), the feeding guidelines say to feed them 60g to 90g of food which seems like too much compared to what your cats are eating! I'm giving them about 60g of dry kibble + 20g of wet food per day, which seems to maintain their weight. Perhaps younger cats are more active and hence, can eat as much as an adult cat. :)

  6. Yah. The amigos and your kitties are also indoor cats and don't get much exercise. This amt seems to work quite well and they are quite contented.

But as you said canned food has a lot of water so I sometimes give the boys a little more kibble before they sleep for the night - about 15 g only.

The doc already warmed me at their last vac that the amigos need to be on diet espcially Bujang. :)
