Tuesday with my family

 As was having breakfast but I decided she needed company. Today is the last day she is on sick leave so I wanted to be with her. What was good was my 2 brothers also decided  to be outside and so we were all together. Tanaka saw me but he walked anyway so san was very impressed with his courage. I on the other hand was glad as I like him and perhaps one day he would play with me. 

Monday in the park

We went out walking in the strollers just now. It was a short walk. San said it’s time we try this out as family. 

I was very nervous in the trolley as it’s so open. But when san tried to cover it with the scarf I didn’t like it as I can’t see the outside. It was better like this. We were out for only 30 minutes as it was very humid outside. 

Easy Peasy Sunday

This is the scene that Sky sees from her lookout. She really enjoys it.

Sky seems to like sitting here and she can sit here the whole day. She also seems to have lost her sad face. When she first came she seemed to have so much sadness. Of course part of that sadness was losing her 4 kittens. They were still born. Chris, our a/c said she asked him why they didn’t move. So we are doing a service for them this weekend as well. Their names are Princess, Leia, Han and Solo. Her name is Skywalker. They were rescued and named the Star Wars Rescue as there were about 35 of them and the rescuer needed names for everyone. 

 

Sky on Saturday

She decided to get up here. It is actually Tanaka’s favourite lookout place. She has seen Tanaka in here many times and I guess she was curious. I am glad Tanaka did not throw up in fear. Several days ago , he was so stressed when he heard her pounding on her black gate that he could not even go to the bin and so did his business on the bed. Chris and I explained that such behaviour was and is unacceptable and we encouraged him to try a little harder. 
 

Finally Friday with Skywalker

Today is a good day. It is close to the weekend and I know that things will be much more lively. I know this as I came to this home last Friday 23 at about dark time. When I came out of the carrier I ran round and round and rolled about the floor. It surprised me that I was the only one in the big room with the 2 humans. Even today, there are only 2 other catses in MY house. At the other house, there were many many many of us. I don't know how many. The cats here is dark and bright. I think the bright one is confused and the dark one is calm. But it seems they have given me this big scratcher and I am always here. I like the top one most of all as I can see everyone and no one can catch me. WOOHOO!

Just Because Sky

Yesterday Sky slept through the brainmelting sounds of drilling. Our neighbour on the 6th floor, is doing renovations to his house. The noise permeated through all that concrete and reverberated in our heads. But the sleeping Sky reminded me of what is important- a good nap.

2 boys and a girl

Bujang took Sky in his stride after several shocks. He is used to seeing strange cats in the house who sometimes stay until they depart to the bridge. So he was not too scared but only irritated as she once or twice jumped up the table to look at him. This morning, however, he decided he would rather wait for me to have some tea before going into the living room. He immediately asked to sit and so we did that for a bit. 

It was a nice surprise to see Tanaka outside as he has been on self-quarantine from last Saturday because of Sky-the-scary-cat. I had to get an animal communicator to try to encourage him to go out and to be together. This morning he managed to get out to the kitchen to have breakfast and to eat some kibble. He was in and out about 4 times eating kibble. I thought he may be eating to last him the whole day! But he threw up a bit as it was too much for his system to handle. I told him to relax a bit as Sky is in her room.  

Welcome home Skywalker

 When my cat Tanaka told Chris that he was scared when Bujang 'disappears', I felt sad for him. He doesn't remember that the other cats went to the bridge because of illness. He said he was scared to be left alone and Bujang doesn't actually like him at all. Bujang thinks that Tanaka is not a cat but a pet. I don't know how cats recognize each other but needless to say I felt that I should make an effort.

Sky is from a hoarder situation of 35 cats in a tiny hdb flat, sitting in faeces and she had never seen the outside of a crate. She was overjoyed at the space she now has and kept looking at the sky and light. One of these days I will put up the conversation.

A mere 3 year old kitty, she had 4 stillborn kittens as she herself was very thin and malnourished. SHe has already 'commandeered' the house and plans to live her best life. I am  glad she is with us although sometimes I see the boys looking at me with ...

Run Free Rezki

My cat Rezki suffered from Feline Aortic Thromboembolism (FATE) early on 1st May 22. The vet said he had a heart murmur and his clot blocked the arteries at his hips. As a consequence his legs were disabled and he could not walk. He fell off the kitchen counter and dragged himself to the living room. He passed away soon after I brought him to the vet. 

He was a cat full of shenanigans and grand plans of becoming boss. He became boss early this year and worked hard to take care of the others. He was only six years old, an ex-community kitty. He was a firecracker and was afraid of nothing.

A little note from Rezki, our gangsta boy from Chris, our ac.

He's sorry he left so sudden. He wants to make sure you are safe always. Though he cannot execute his major plan which he nv say what, he is glad to be part of the household. He will be joining the rest to look after the house.

Rez said that he wanted to his urn to be in the bedroom but his message was hijacked by his brother Totoro who said 'they all wanted to be inside, away from the sun but on a nice shelf but must be arranged nicely from first to last' So I decided to shift them all and now they are all together.

Fly High Popsicle Poppy

Poppy came home today, a little later in the afternoon (27 Dec 2021). The house was quiet. The house has always been quiet but now it was quite empty. Now I have 3 male cats and they seem to disappear into their own separate spaces, without Popps or Akira to bring them together.

Popp's last message to me (via Chris) on 24 December 2021. She had many more that we would share but for now, only this.

"The living is more important than the one that has passed by your life. Focus on them. We will always be around you, watching you."

Poppy had severe anemia and even though  she went through 4 injections of  Aranesp (manmade erythropoietin). Her red blood cells did not increase but rather decreased. Then last Wednesday (22 Dec) she didn't eat and threw up twice. Her vet was full so I brought her to the vet hospital where we found her red blood cell count to be considerably lower and her liver values elevated. She was in respiratory distress early Friday (24 Dec) morning and the cpr did not revive her. She passed in the early hours of that morning. 

My Indoor Garden

Since so much of my time is now spent indoors, I wanted to create a small green space for us, the cats and me. We don't get out much as Bujang has IVD (Idiopathic Vestibular Disease)  now and eventhough he is coping with it well, its a challenge for me to persuade him that there are some places he should not go to at this time. Even with IVD, he is really strong in will. The kitties have taken to our very small green space well and everyone has they favourite 'munch'. Bujang likes the Calathea Rattle Snake (beside the spider plant), Rez likes his own pot of spider plant (which is now in care due to some serious chomping) and Tanaka just likes wheatgrass. Popps does not like anything at all. She hardly visits the garden. I had to read up and figure out what plants are safe for cats as well and all the plants here are, except the one at the window. The Tradescantia is not safe for cats but they won't get awfully sick on it. My Tradescantia will always be beyond them. 

After several weeks of worrying about the Calathea, I decided to just get on with it and this is my propagation centre. Here I have to see if I have the family green thumb or perhaps I'm the only one without. The cats are made of clay and come from Nepal. Since I bought a few of them when I was looking for something for Rainbow Akira. I decided to put them out. I'm sure Akira would not mind it. 

 This is my favourite kitty made of clay from Nepal. I think the red fish made it for me.

Red Clay cat on pillow in sleeping with the pepperomia. My pepperomina ruby (the one next to the kitty) is not doing well. Its very young from the online seller, and is now losing all the leaves. Possibly the roots are not yet firm and strong before the seller sells it online. Its probably better to go to a plant centre to get another one. 

My propagation station. Rez's spider plant is the one on the extreme right. He likes this pot I think because the plants are at 2 different heights and its easier for him to make decisions as to which blade he wants at any one time. I had this plant on my corridor garden and didn't know that it was also cat safe. Its only when I decided to make a green space inside that I found this out. I gave him 2 new pots but he has a 'take it or leave it attitude' to them though.
