Training

I don't see why I need to do as san says...I am a cat!

I have been trying to persuade Tanaka and the boys that 3 is not a crowd to little success. 3 days in a row, I had put Tanaka with Bujang and Toro so they could all find a place to sleep in the room. Tanaka is still too young to rest and relax and Toro gets very unsettled whe Tanaka is around. He growls and screams and scolds me at every turn. Tanaka of course tried to bully him into playing but Toro is quite used to our routine and did not care for Tanaka's routines at all. It was interesting that Bujang was not at all involved in the dramatics and Tanaka did not even try to get near Bujang at all :)
Finally I had to put Tanaka back in his green quarters as Toro started scratching on the door, begging to be let out. He must really be desperate! But I will perservere and continue until I can get the 3 boys to sleep peacefully, each in his own space, in the room. But it is going to take some doing!

My Family on Sunday

Good afternoon...this is what we do on Sundays...

We sit around all day. I hang out with my bruffers quite a lot. They don't ask me to go away so that makes them good bruffers cos I am little and they are big. Fur sure they know many things that a little kitty needs to know. But they sit around and stare at nuffing all day. Maybe that is what kitties do. I will try to be a good bruffer myself.

Here I am, staring at nuffing. But I do it in style :) san has given us all new collars. She said we have to have some red in our collars fur good luck, prosperity and lots of biscuits and treaties. I like the black collar that cat-aunty gave me on Chris Mouse but san says its Chinese New Year already and fur me to move wif the times. My bell is big and rings loudly. I dun like it as I cannot surprise anyone especially Sisfur Akira and Bruffer Megat. But san says its good fur everyone to know where I am in case I get lost. :) See! There are many things fur a little kitty to learn...sigh...

All this is making me thirsty. I like water from this CATIT. It runs and makes little noises. I can drink all by myself now. There is no water in my night house cos san is afraid I spill it and wet my fur all night. But its okie. I get to drink all day if I want to as now I only sleep in there at night.

Play time

Well..there was nothing else to do...

Bujang and Tanaka sharing play time...

Bujang likes playing with this toy and you can actually hear him at it most of the time. However, Tanaka also seems to take great joy at it and these days, the two can be found together taking turns pushing the ball about :)

Megat taking time off and playing with Tanaka..for abit before Tanaka decided to launch himself at him...ouch!

Rocket Tanaka taking the breeze

Where is this Rocket?

What's all these smells...hmmm..hmmm

I am afraid...can we go home?

I am The Rocket...I am brave..a little bit...

But san...what is that sound?

I think its time I lay low...

Bujang looking at The Rocket from under the ixora...

I thought that it was time Tanaka went Outside with Bujang. I was glad that Cousin R came to the house much earlier than usual and with her help, we brought both Bujang and Tanaka with us. At first Tanaka was nervous, preferring to be near his carrier but I brought him to the grass and he took to it quite soon. There was a time where he was frightened but that was because the kids came home from school and rushed and screamed the park down! After a few minutes, he calmed down and lay low, craning his neck gingerly when he heard sounds and noises. Bujang was no help as he was absorbed with eating grass and smelling the ixora. He also re-discovered his love of watching the neighbourhood kids play football. We were out for 30 minutes by which time it was 6.20 pm and time to go home for dinner. I think all of us had a nice day out this evening.

Banished!

Banished? What do you mean san? What is banished?

After a some time sleepless night for poor Toro, I had to banish Tanaka to rest in his green cage. He spent part of the night hanging onto Toro and finally Toro had to move away from his own blanket to get away from Tanaka. Poor Toro spent some time mewing and complaining. It was interesting to see that Tanaka did not go near Bujang at all although Bujang was just a few steps away from him.
After I had put Tanaka in his own space, I persuaded Toro that all was all right and did not have to be afraid of anything. Only then did Toro get up on his blanket and rested for the night :)
This Tanaka is extremely spirited and would not take NO for an answer, unless it comes from Bujang or Ms Akira. :)

Sleepy Sunday

Bruffers sharing a sleeping mat together.

No san. I did not tell him to sleep at the end ..honest. He did that himself.

Sleepy Sunday musings

This is my blankie..yeah...its new and smells nice.
The Rocket has learnt many things from his bruffers and one sisfur. He takes everything in his stride for which I am glad. The amigos have accepted him very well and today things were very quiet as Tanaka discovers the meaning of sleepy sunday. They spent all of it just lazing about and presently Tanaka is asleep on this new blanket that I bought to protect my bed from cat fur. I thought I should just list down all the stuff he has learnt from the amigo just for fun since I have not been blogging very often I realise.

Lesson 101: Watching TV
When you watch TV ,Tanaka, watch out for the radiation and always sit right smack in front of the TV. Then san will give you a treat to get you off so she can watch her fav TV programme.

Tanaka taking Bujang's advice to heart...

Bujang has also taught him to drink from the Cat-it and to sit in the basket at the cat gym :) Bujang didn't have to toilet-train him as he had done for all the other kitties. This was because Tanaka already knew how to use the litter.

The Legend of the Cave...

When you want to be safe from everyone, I advise you to find your own blankie and hide in it. This will safe you from horrid creatures that you do not like. It also gives you privacy.

Tanaka watching the world from the safety of Ms Akira's blanket.

Ms Akira has also taught him respect and especially to respect HER privacy. One growl and he is off running.

The Leash and how to walk comfortably...
When you have a leash, the thing to do is to relax. Do not slouch about. It is perfectly okay to walk straight. I will watch your back. No fear!

The laze-in...

When you want to sleep on san's bed, the thing is to clamber from the bedside table and then get onto the headboard and finally walk on san's face. No fear. She won't swipe you. And you get a lot of fun from it too..hehe. Don't do th easy thing of getting up from side. There is no fun in that.

Tanaka taking his advice to heart and is even now sleeping on my bed after clambering up from the bedside table when he could more easily get up from the side.

I think Tanaka will learn many good things and as many bad things from his family but he is getting more and more in tune with everyone. I think I will allow him to lseep with the boys tonight instead of putting him in his green cage as long as he does not fight or disturb the boys from sleeping.
I had one more person asking after him this morning. Although I was rather sad to tell her that Tanaka is adopted, I am also quite glad that we have decided to adopt him as he is a very friendly guy and a quick learner. The amigos are used to him and he is used to us. I have to tell D again to take down his notice from the cws adoption board.

Visit To the V_E_T

Thank goodness it was over...fast...

Ms Akira had to go to the vet yesterday for a follow-up. This time we saw Dr L and Ms Akira was not as stressed out as before. I told the vet that she had vomitted 3 times since the last time we saw the vet. Dr L said that I should not be overly worried as cats do have the tendency to vomit as they sometimes eat all manner of things that they pick up. She said I only have to worry if Ms Akira vomits continually, or she vomits twice or three times in a day, everyday. If that is the case, then Ms Akira would have to get a blood test as something might be seriously wrong with her system. As the case stands now, she seems ok although she gave me the gastric pills just in case. Ms Akira weighed in at 3.99 kg. She used to be about 5 kg. I asked Dr L if that was okay and she said it was perfectly ok for a kitty. It seems a good weight should be about 4 kg for an adult kitty.

What do you mean I have to go again? I don't think so...

The Rocket went to the vet to get his last kitten vac. I told the front desk that his name was Tanaka now instead of Ginger as I have adopted him. We also took down his pic from the vet's adoption board. A woman who was there with her sick hamster said that he had a very glamorous name and so I explained about grandma's liking for the celebrity chef Jun Tanaka. The people at the vet's found the story amusing. I wonder what they would have said if they knew his real name was Rocket Tanaka :)
He weighed in at a solid 2.6 kg from 1.6 kg the last time. Dr L told him he was a very good kitty and indeed he behaved very well indeed. The doc cooed at him "Wah last time I saw you , you were very small and now so big!" :) She examined his teeth, his eyes and ears and nodded approving at his errr...genitals. She said, "Two. Very good." Then she spoke about castration. I found that very funny but Tanaka just wanted to go home. Then he suddenly drooled. The vet said that was a sign of stress and so we bundled him quickly into his carrier and he promptly hugged his bear and kept quiet.

He had a slight fever that night and so I put him on my bed to rest. At night I gave him 1/2 a bottle of Gerber's chicken and Bujang had the rest. Then he fell asleep on the bed and so I left him to sleep with the boys. The boys did not protest although Bujang slept in his little caccoon the whole night. But at least there was no growling and biting. If Bujang was displeased with Tanaka, he would have shown it by hitting him or even nipping at him. He does this to Toro sometimes when Toro sleeps on his blanket. But Tanaka went unscathed :)

Cat TV

Let me in please...

You don't say...

Tanaka watched TV for a bit this afternoon as all his bruffers were asleep. I think they have it all figured out. If they don't move when he jumps on them, he would leave them alone and that was what they did. They ignored him the whole afternoon and he just simply played by himself. He is now asleep in his cage and has been asleep right after he ate dinner, about 6.30 pm :)

The Rocket at rest

Huh? You mean people have been asking after me? Whoah!!

Bigger version of his pic on the sidebar taken today...

To be sure Tanaka has grown to be much more handsome. His features have filled up and so has his person :) His stripes are more obvious these days and when he romps on Megat, Megat has to frequently run away from him or else he gets clobbered! This does not stop Megat from looking for Tanaka and inviting him to play though :)

This afternoon, I managed to get his pics when he was at rest as all the amigos were asleep and no one was willing to entertain him. So he clambered up the gym and rested :) It was peaceful at last in the amigo house.

I do not know how I feel about people who have been asking for him. Well, there were all of 2 actually. One disappeared when I asked if she has ever had a kitten. The other was more perservering, telling me that her whole family was willing to take him in, that she would sterilise him when he is 6 months and that she would not let him out of the house. They do not have kids in the house and have no pets. The family lives on the 2nd floor but would close the windows when they have pets. HUH! (I thought she said they have no pets! I asked if they have mesh on their windows or would they make sure that they mesh up their windows if they have Tanaka.) I got these very useful questions from vegancat's community cat blog as well as the cws site. So I guess the answer to that question is they have no mesh or grills on their windows and would not be getting them meshed any time soon.

But cats do fall out from windows and I think they could die even if its from the 2nd floor no? Maybe this is not a good potential adopter!

PS: The potential adopter emailed to say that her cat died of old age - at 15 years old. 15 years is a good old age for cats :) Hmmm...sounds okie :/

The Last Day Of 2007

We spent our time outside...
How did you spend your time today?

Tanaka warily side-stepping the leashes like a dainty ballerina...

Tanaka making some decisions as to how he wanted to spend his time outside...

With the bruffers of course...

Blurry video of Tanaka outside

Tanaka doing his thing...

Tanaka went out with the boys this morning to celebrate the last day of 2007. The video is rather blurry as its from my hp. I hope you guys can see him running for his life :) The last day of the year! I really have to keep track of my time!

Playtime with The Rocket

Please..can I go out now? I promise to be good...

Wheee! Da Bird!

Its mine! I am too small to make promises! I am 3.5 months only...

Its mine! You can't have it...

Wha! Its mine Megat! MEGAT~~~~~~

Ok..time to ambush someone..anyone...who?who?

Okay..I promised to be good. I am good now aren't I?

After the Rocket ...

Actually I dun care for him...whefur he is out or in I prefur to be by myself...

No one can disturb me in here...

Ms Akira has commandeered new premises for herself. I am glad to say she has not vomitted anymore apart from the one incident last week but we are keeping an eye on her. She is more sociable after the Bach Flowers and would actually come out of her sanctuary to mingle with the family (from a safe distance) but still she will make the decision to be in the living room when everyone is out. If Tanaka is out, she will be on top of her cage...away from the craziness :)

Bujang taking some time-out himself - be with the family but still safe and sound...

Megat getting some rest after running and being chased by The Rocket...zzzz

Toro sleeping in The Pod...silence is golden..

Rocket Tanaka exhausts almost everyone with his sudden ambushes. He is getting used to resting by himself (outside his cage) these days but he still needs help in this. The boys like playing with him although he loves to play with Megat most of all. I am afraid it may be too much for Megat as he sometimes gets into a short coughing fit after all that running. On a better note (for Megat) he is getting into the swing of playing by himself, running after the styrofoam ball and kicking it about. :)
