Blackie went to the vet for his review. I was pleased to know that he is hydration is better and the vet was pleased that he had lost weight. In 2.5 weeks he had gone from 4.9 to 4.75. The vet advised greater loss though. His BUN values are within normal range but his creatinine remained constant at 2.8. His phosphorous is at 4.1 so that is ok.
The vet said that he should do fine with just once a week SubQ although he prefers that we do it twice a week. I asked this as I would have to release him back to the car park as Poppy is extremely upset that he is with us. She would scream and yell when she sees him and of cos her territory is curtailed as he needs to be in the kitchen. Kidney disease is long-term and can be very expensive as well and so I do not have much hope that anyone will adopt him with it.
He will be in the car park next week after his acupuncture session but we will be able to keep a close eye on his progress, for which I am grateful. We can do the SubQ at a quiet place downstairs and catch him for his acupuncture treatments as well.
