Walking outside

Bujang likes going downstairs to walk on the grass and chase pigeons. He always stops short of catching them
He walks up to them nonchalantly...
and he likes to watch them fly off. The pigeons oblige all the time :)
Tanaka does not like walking on grass. Nor does he like wide open spaces. The corridor is his favourite and whenever I show him the purple harness, he would race to the door and wait. Then after he has the harness on, he waits for me to put him outside for his walk :)
Totoro dislikes being outside and the last time that I had tried with him (last month), he tried to get into the house desperately. Although he told Fern (the aniamal communicator) that he would like to walk with me by his side, I think it will take some time yet.
Ultimately san...why don't you just bring me out everyday? I can take it!!

The only kitty who does not know how to use the harness is Megat. Ms Akira has her own colourful harness but she is an indoor cat at heart and does not walk outside at all.

Harnesses r Us

Tanaka watching mynahs on the wing...in his purple jacket.
The 3 boys have soft walking jackets
We also have a black one for Bujang. So we have all the 4 colours :)
These are from http://www.hdw-inc.com/walkingjackets.htm

This jacket is fastened by velcro. They come in snazzy colours and designs.
This makes Tanaka look like some Disco Dude
This is from http://www.joykatz.net/walkingjackets.htm.
Bujang has a black leather one and Akira has one with psychedelic cat patterns

Someone asked me at the entry about harnesses and which ones I prefer. The amigos have a variety of harnesses, both with buckles and velcro. I personally prefer the colours of the velcro ones but would stick to the walking jackets for safety sake. I am just not comfortable with the idea of walking my cat, near a street with velcro jackets.

This is NOT to say that the velcro jackets are unsafe. Bujang has escaped twice from the walking jackets. If he desires and wants to desperately, he would back up and pull at the leash and in this way, had twice gotten the walking jacket off. But these jacktes are secure and could be wrapped around the kitty closely. Just ensure that the kitty is comfortable with it before the walk. So if anyone desires to walk the kitty using a harness or jacket, they have to keep a close eye on the kitty and not ignore a sudden tug at the leash.

I bought both the velcro and walking jackets online. I have yet to see anything like these in Singapore stores.

New jackets

Our new walking jackets from adoyal

Bujang - biker dude

Biker dude casing the neighbourhood...

Of course it had to happen. I was browsing the net and saw these really spiffy walking jackets for cats. It has very strong velcro so the jackets fit the amigos very snugly. What is also good is that if the amigos grow fatter (and I'm sure they will) they can still wear these jackets. I brought Bujang down yesterday at about 7.30 pm and he walked confidently all about, eating grass and sniffing the place at night. I was at first a little wary about the strength of the velcro but I found out that he could pull quite strongly and the jacket does not budge. It does have some give so Bujang feels comfortable. And of course this one is made of black leatherette. :)) Of course you must measure your cats exactly to make sure that the jackets are snug and comfortable. The jackets came in a matter of about 10 days without fuss. I am very pleased with them.

Of cos Megat is still not used to it but he managed to walk a few feet slowly with this one. He did not walk at all with his previous walking jacket. So I think its better for him.
