The Visit

....to the vet went without a hitch. Dr L said he is about 8 weeks old and is in very good health - clear eyes and clean ears and not a fur mite in sight. He is just under 1 pound and can gain a lot more weight. The doc also said that I could also give him dry food and he had some today with very good results.
He got his first vaccination and didn't even have a fever from it unlike the rest of the amigos! He was frisking about and jumping immediately when he got home from ARC and rested for some time in his litter. The litter has become his favourite resting place and so I am very careful about making sure that it is very clean. But he knows that we would make sure to wipe him and he has tried several times to escape from being cleaned in such a disrespectful way :) He also got some deworming syrup. "His stools might be a little soft," I was warned but no. It was just like before. So I guess he really is a very healthy little thing.
The vet told me I should send a picture that they can paste on their noticeboard so they can help me find him a home. "He is sooooo cute...!" she coooed repeatedly. So I guess his good looks would help in his adoption ...whenever that may be. The doc also said he has large paws and this is true. I noticed this very particular feature and I had actually counted his toes to see whether he has 6 but he has the usual numbers. It seems this is an indication that he would grow into a big cat, like Bujang I guess.
One thing that disturbed us all was that the doc said someone had cut his whiskers. WOAH! I didn't notice as his whiskers are so tiny and faint!. Not only abandoned but abused as well. Poor thing!
Tonight grandma tried on a new name - "Tanaka," she said. This was because she just found out today that Ginger means "Halia' in Malay. How can we name the cat after a root used in cooking?! Hahaha.

Where I lay my head...

The sand is soft under my body...

I know what you're thinking...but I like the sand...and its clean cos san just cleaned it.

Hear Here

Yup. Today san is blogging only about me. I am Ginger. I think Ginger is a silly girl name but grandma likes it. I will get used to it some time. I played outside in the living room today, all day. Okie not all day, only sometimes. Sometimes I have to sleep and rest in the green thing. I can't open the green thing. Only san and grandma can do that. I sometimes try to persude them by screaming but that didn't help. I have to think of other things tomorrow.

Ginger The Hunter

First I bite it...

Then I bite it some more...

Ginger loves Da Bird. He flies to catch it and stalks it like the big boys. The boys, Megat included looks on when he plays. I think they think he is a weird something that requires more watching :)

Ginger The Stalker

The stalker...

David and Goliath...

I am not afraid of 2 Goliaths...no way...

Ginger the Mountain-Climber

I may be small but I can do this...

and this...

and I have nails..well a little shorter but NAILS...

I am also very handsome no?

I have forgotten how energetic a little kitten can be!

The Ramayana now Ginger tales...

Too full...

Zzzzzz...much too sleepy to care what I look like...

My niece smsed to say that one of her friends wanted Rama aka Ginger. (Grandma says Ginger is easier for her to say). I spoke to her friend S and told her that I would take care of all the admin, that is I would pay for all the necessary costs - vaccinations and sterilisation before she takes Ginger home with her. She sounded enthusiastic and asked if she needs to take Ginger home straightaway but I told her I would send Ginger to the vet first to see if everything is okie.
I also told her not to abandon the kitten if she could not take care of it. Grandma also reminded me to tell S. Even my sister told me to tell S this. S said she would not do such a heinous thing. I was quite confident that she would not and told my niece other things that a person with a kitten should know - like the fact that a kitten cannot be left alone in the house, the house needs to be secured with mesh if they live on a high floor and the kitten needs playtime as well. Even now Ginger is much taken with Da Bird already and would try to hide the lure when he gets it.
This morning, my niece said her friend's mother now did not feel that they could take care of the Ginger as she thought she could leave the kitten alone in the house. Aieee! My niece told me that she had told her friend that this was not a logical thing to do as Ginger is hardly a year old. Anyway when I told this to grandma she was equally surprised that the potential adopter thought in that way. She told me that then it would be right that they didn't take Ginger with them. I agree of course.
So now, Ginger is still with us and he is now sleeping after his food and playtime. This morning, Grandma thought I should allow him a little playtime in the living room. The amigos sans Megat were in attendance and Toro got a little fright when Ginger ran up to him and played with his tail. Ms Akira just looked at Ginger as though he was a curiosity.
Then the amigos also had some playtime but they were more interested in looking at Ginger in his cage. Toro made some half-hearted dashes at Da Bird and then left to sit under the cupboard. :)
PS: The amigos and I would like to thank Spencer for her good advice. We will all try to be patient with Ginger as you were with Max *koff* :))
