All's well that ends well

Our commcat Girl2 was in a fight with a 'stranger cat' that had been roaming the area for a few years. No one could catch him as he visits our area at night and is not a regular. We tried to catch her 2 days ago but failed.

At about 5ish yesterday, Cousin R and I managed to catch her using a sack. We tried to keep calm even though we nervous.

I had to keep her in the carrier outside the kitchen so Rez can rest. She was quiet. The amigos were also quiet although they know that something was up with the strange cat. But they did not make a fuss and Girl2 became much more calm herself. Both of us waited for about 5 hours for Regine to get her. Regine is part of Petwagon and she is a humane trapper and also helps to take care of  injured cats. Both Rez (when he was a commcat) and Girl2 had gone to Regine before for injuries and recuperation.

Both the boys were helping me to keep her company. Right after Regine came to take Girl2 away, all of us turned in. After a short grooming session...

both Tanaka and Bujang fell right to sleep. They had both stayed up after their bedtime and were really tired.

The calm before the storm

Bujang and Popps in relative calm.

This used to belong to Bujang. He loved the peace and quiet of grandma's room and her small and tidy bed.
This used to be my space
Now of cos Popps rests here. He has not protested as yet. He very patiently has given up many of his spaces and now feels the stress of not having a space of his own.

He doesn't sit much here at all.
I do not know if his back hurts him when he sits here so it's taken over by
             And his long time obsession

He told Fern last Sunday and he now tries to leave the cats alone as he wants time to himself and to spend time doing things with me. He wants peace and quiet.

Yesterday, I think he got really fed up with Popps who refused to allow him into the kitchen for dinner and later  they got into a little fight. There was yelling, screaming and Popps 's fur flew all over grandma's room. They both got time out and I got bitten by Bujang on the foot as well.

He did not make noise to get out from the room as he knew he was in trouble and Popps stayed in her cage the whole time they were on time out.

Yesterday they both had a session with Craig, a reiki master who is also trying to help Bujang with his back problems.

Bujang had this to say:
"He said he had enough of Poppy encroaching on his space and pushing the boundaries. He resented this as she is 'nice' but keeps pushing closer and closer."
Bujang spent half of the night sitting close to me and grooming on my blanket. He has not sat this close to me for a long long long time. Cat_aunty said he was sorry for biting my foot and losing his temper with me. He did not even yell the whole of last night and after this, he went to sleep on his fav new sleeping place - the upside down chair.
Miss Bossy Boots has only this to say
"She called Bujang a bully but quickly retracted this and admitted that she did try to get too close".

I hope these 2 would make up or at least give each other space.

How THE BITE happened

lazing about on san's bed...

Tanaka: I fink I know what happened. san was not in the room so she told me to tell all. As you can see, I am THE BOSS when it comes to who gets on the bed (except when Bujang is on the bed offur cos). When san came into the room 2 weeks ago, she saw a lot alot alot offur black fur on it. But as a human, she sometimes cannot fink furry well. She just used the BIG green monster to eat up all the fur. But she knows eventhough I always jump and run after Megat, I have NEFFUR bitten him. Toro would swipe him when he gets in the way of brushing fur but he has NEFFUR bitten Megat. So I fink you know what san suspects. When Bujang wants anyfing, you give it to him or else he would swipe you wif his scary nails and bite you too.

That is what san suspects. Offur course sometimes my bruffer Toro can be stubborn but he will only wrestle. Although san has told me to tell the truf, I know I need to be politically correct (as I am trying to learn how to be a politician and maybe I can become President offur Singapurr later in the year.....hmmmm) So I tell the truf as much as I can!

san: When I came into the room then, everyone was sitting about looking pleased. Maybe they were conspiring and keeping secrets. I had to put them all in the room as Ms Akira had the living room then. Maybe I should just have let Bujang alone outside as Bujang and Ms Akira are friends and the 3 boys would not bite each other although they do get on each others nerves often enough.

Putih's overnighter

Putih was quiet all of last night. I had placed her cage under the table in the kitchen so grandma would not trip over it on her way to the bathroom. I covered the cage with a towel so she rested in her darkened quarters. Later she made some noise but was quiet when I ignored her pleas.

This morning I woke up specially early to se if she was ok. She screamed a little and then sniffed at the wet food -tuna and chicken- slowly. She ate a little and then growled at me when I moved her into the bathroom.

The amigos were initially nervous but later relaxed when  they could not see her anywhere. Even Toro ate his food. Tanaka was a little suspicious and hunted her scent but inally he gave  up and started eating.

Putih at the vet

Life is uncertain. Enjoy it when you can.
Cousin R told on Monday that Putih was limping again. I told her we should monitor her and if it got worse we would bring her to the vet. It got worse and today the vet had to sedate her so she could see if there was pus under her swollen joints of her right foreleg. Dr L took a Vetscan prep profile and I was glad that her bloodwork was excellent. I don't think I could take another cat with renal failure! But she was sedated for the examination.

She had several wounds under her fur and one deep one near her joint. Dr L had to cut a small incision to see if there were pus tracks but there was none. She did an xray and there were no broken bones. It was a 30 minute surgery and we were very lucky as we were the last patient for the day. Dr L said she had to be indoors and so we had to persuade grandma to allow her in the house. She was in our house 4 years ago to recuperate from her sterilization surgery and grandma remembered her as being a very good patient. She has to be here for a week at most and has to go to the clinic everyday for antibiotic injections as she is not very good with oral meds and I do not know how she would take me giving her injections.

The vet said most probably she would have gotten into a cat fight and indeed people have abandoned 2 cats at her block and the cats go into the school too. I was glad that she was not abused by crazy people. Cat fights are something a community cat has to face and she has survived 5 years already. It is no good moving her as she would find her way into the school and go back to her territory.

Now I just need to keep the amigos away from her and this would be a most delicate operation!
