Tuesday Roar

*Don't worry san. I feel nauseous only sometimes. It's ok.

*he told Fern to tell me not to worry to much about his nausea last Sunday at his reiki session. I am thinking of getting him a raised saucer or at least put his saucer on another bowl so it's raised. It may help him although he is suspicious of this. I tried it before but I guess I would need to try again. He did eat his wet food last night and this morning though.

Ms Akira's Two Cents

So we continue with Akira's and Tanaka's stories and why they think they are having such troubles.
Akira: I need to tell you that I am thinking a lot about what Bujang said and mom's calming signals (licking the lips, yawning, looking at and looking away, stretching when they feel stressed) would help me to be more calm. Is there a calming herb? Like something I can eat that makes my body less reactive. I feel like my body reacts before my mind does. I need to know if I am safe and sometimes I don't know for a while. Tell Tanaka , "If you try harder, I will try harder." My eyes and his will sometimes make it worse. I have noticed that.If my eye shift too much he gets worse. I shift because I am scared.
san: Its true that Akira's eyes take a large part of her face :) In our last conversation, my cat Megat (who is now at the bridge) told Laura that he can feel Akira's eyes in the dark and they scare him. That was also the reason why Megat used to chase her as well.
Akira: I think he has the potential to be nice to me cause we have moments where he is kind and just sits near me and my fear drifts. yes my fear drifts. (I asked Laura to ask her when these moments are as I thought I could try to make sure that they both get more of these moments)

Akira: We are separate.  It is either one - me outside
or him outside
and even when mom does leash work I feel better. I like leash work cause I feel like he is enjoying my presence and that makes me feel good.
(At this point, Laura decided to tell Tanaka to just try to let it go and stop chasing her. Just release everything.)
Tanaka: The idea is good and I think maybe I won't chase her. maybe I won't chase her anymore and I have to say "Bujang, I get it that you are calmer than her. I understand." So I should follow him. I should follow him.

(I also told Laura at this time that I had been thinking of just taking him off his leash and harness and allow them both outside just to see what he would do as he has been doing very well with the leash training. Akira started to meow very loudly and Laura asked who it was that was meowing so much. She decided to ask Akira why she was meowing)

Akira: This is too much about him and too little about me. I want to say that no way! Do not let him off the leash and also I want to say I am not skittish and really scaredy. I am smart and my body knows how to move. I stretch too. I need to tell you that I need love time.
The time where my body and soul have this refreshing breath of fresh air. I need to do this with my mom everyday.

I like to sleep with my mom and have love refreshing time. I love that time.

(She will only sit on my lap if when I am at the computer and it could be like this for quite some time. So now I am smarter and I have put both chairs closer so there is no gap under my knees. Its much better that way. I have not done this for some time as I try to play with her so she could do more stretching but after this I will do this a lot more and see how she could get some play time as well. I asked her how her body feels and whether she enjoys going to see Adrian, our osteopath)
Akira: My body does feel better. I stretch better and when he massages me I feel a release of everything. I am much happier and more confident and I want to say something mom. Mommy you are the best mommy ever :)). I feel like you do a lot for us and I understand it when you talk to me and it helps me. My doctor (Adrian Lalani) said I am a nice cat. (which he does every time he sees her).
Akira: Can I have treat training? I want treat training for the calming signals and also for jumping on things. Tell me to jump and then I jump. My paws are sometimes sensitive. And my food sometimes make s me more anxious after I eat. I hate that. I like to have treats. My wish for our family is that we all get along and mom feels good about our relationships and she feels that harmony is something she created.

Akira: Tanaka is not all that bad. He just has a problem that he needs to work out.

san: I think it was a good session for both Tanaka and Akira to talk and for me to know what is happening with them  Apart from their troubles, I was also wondering how the osteopath treatments are going for them and indeed Akira is more confident and more assertive. She behaves very differently from 2 years ago and she has made great strides in this. She sees Adrian, our osteopath now 4 times a year only. She had also given Bujang advice about Adrian and I would post that later on.

I had discussed with Laura how I needed to go on with the leash training and she advised me that just like Akira said, I should not release Tanaka from his harness and leash outside with Akira before doing more exercises. We discussed the exercises, like walking around the house with her outside or walking up and down. Now I also have to train Ms Akira :)) Thank goodness Bujang did not ask for any training. he just wanted me to sing more:)) They are very funny kitties!

But tomorrow being Christmas, I would post about our precious Rainbow bridge brothers and what the cats say about family :))

Just Because

Yeah. I decided not to eat any wet food and make san open at least 5 every morning because I can. It breaks up my day. Anyway I don't think she will leave me without anyfing to eat cos beans are like that. You can wrap them around your 4 paws and they will not realize it.

TGIF

FRIDAY
We hope you have great plans for the weekend. The good news is Megat does not have to go to the hospital as the vet had given him 2 weeks to rest and to eat his way to a better weight. Since his PCV was 35 on the last count (last week) he was also out of immediate danger. We went to see Dr Lalani on Monday and he had his ear unblocked and his kidneys strengthened. Dr Lalani was very happy with his progress as well.

All in all, we are a happy bunch and we give thanks for many things, first of all that all the amigos are well and the community cats are also in good health. We give thanks for this whole week that I had been able to spend more time with the kitties as I am on a one-week school break. We give thanks that Megat has been able to eat alot more food by himself, taking in several mouthfuls of tuna or chicken in gravy. We had given him Fancy Feast as we saw that a lot of the kitties like it. Ms Akira likes it as well but not the rest of the boys. We continue to give him the 2mg cypro daily as advised by our vet as well. We think this is why he was able to eat more food during the day as he is alot more hungry.

Wednesday Greetings

Good morning everyone. I look a little grumpy as I had just been 'given' my salbutamol (yuck...spit...spit...) and my food in a syringe. I had eaten some food by myself but san seems to think I need more! But I am feeling better and can walk much more steadily as well. So I think it _is_ a GOOD MORNING ;))

Update for Megat

This is Megat sitting on my chest. I have to wrap him up in a towel when putting in the suppository in his anus. Then he needs to be restrained for about 30 to 40 minutes for the lingzhi to be absorbed. It's a long process but we are used to it.

We had spoken with Dr Ly regarding Megat's care. He said it was ok not to continue with the vincristine as we don't actually know for sure if it would be as helpful for him now. So we discussed other protocols.
He has put on more weight and is now 3.49 kg. I was quite relieved at this as I was afraid he may not have eaten enough to sustain his organs. Of cos he still needs to be hand- fed in the  mornings.
Megat is on Éprex as he is anaemic and we need to go back this Saturday for a blood test and his PCV. Dr Ly said that if he gets worse suddenly I needed to bring him in for a blood transfusion but he is holding on, much to my relief.
I guess I will have to discuss it with Bujang as he had given blood for Totoro last year. Of course Bujang blood type is A. I do not know Megat's blood type at all but I hope I do not need to know that.

Saturday Easy

We had 2 busy days to celebrate Hari Raya and our 48th National Day. But today we are feeling free and easy.

We went for a short walk along our corridor.

Bujang spent some time watching the corridor for signs of guests but the other two were just catching the breeze.
Megat spent the time just relaxing.
He was eating rather well the last 2 days but today he just licked at the gravy in his food bowl so I have him 15 ml of no grain chicken. He has his VitB, marbocyl and his cyproheptidene.

We expect the rest if the day to continue slowly and easily.

Decisions

This is an old picture of Megat - taken in March of this year. We will try to get newer pictures of him this evening.

Megat had one round of vincristine last Thursday as the vet said there may be some tumours lingering in him from before. It seems even if the ultra sound is clean, there is no assurance that he is clear. But he did not do well with this round of vincristine and so we have decided (Megat and I) that we will not do any more vincristine.

Having spoken to Dr Lalani and other cat parents, I decided that we will just work on the constipation problems as well as the appetite issues. He has just begun to eat a little for dinner yesterday and even this morning, he had tried to eat some. However I had to continue feeding him by hand for the past months and I am so happy that he had finished his kibble last night.

So the plan is to just allow him to 'observe, rest and relax' and enjoy his days in peace. A 17 year  old kitty deserves at least that much :)

Easy Peasy Sunday

The three offur us spent some time outside but not........

Megat. In the first place my bruffer Megat does not like the outside, even in his harness. san tried to teach him several times but he kept running back onto the house. Anyway he has to go to the v-e-t!!
He is 3.6 kg!!! san was very happy as he managed to put on some weight. 2 weeks ago he was 3.56 kg. I know san was furry worried that he would lose even more weight but he managed to keep his weight stable. Now in a week he has to go to the hospital to meet Dr Ly and san wants him to at least put a little more weight for that.

Another bit offur good news is that he is not constipated and does not have hard poo on his intestines. The v-e-t thinks this is because san had fed him by hand in the morning and sometimes at night and he eats a little of his kibble during the day. This morning he finished all of his night snack (all 20 gm) of it! So he might not have much poo as his body uses up all offur the food. He still has to take the duphalac effuryday to 'regulate ' himself.

The v-e-t gave san 10 cyphroheptidene pills just on case he needs it. He is to take 2 mg if he doesn't eat his 2 meals in a day. The v-e-t said to give him the pill and to wait for an hour. Then san needs to give him some food after.

All in all the Sunday was just right. We now leave you wif a pic of me cos good fings happened today but san will write about it anuffer time.
Have an easy Sunday from us.

Saturday Easy

Yes. I agree san. We are going to take it easy. I _will_ behave and not jump on Megat my bruffer.
It's raining out and Megat is taking it easy. We didn't manage to go to the vet yesterday as it rained very hard here so we will go this Sunday. He is eating but not as much as last week but he still sits with everyone in the kitchen at breakfast and dinner. He is still a little thin though.

Last night though he managed to eat half of his dinner by himself which is a good thing and this morning his kibble dish is empty. So he does have his ups and downs, which is ok as long as he continues eating.
Megat taking a break and sleeping to the sound of rain outside.

Saturday Easy

I am getting better. Thanks for all the purrayers and good thoughts that you have sent our way. I feel better and am eating more as well.

Okay so maybe in the mornings I still have some trouble eating but san feeds me with the syringes.  She said the food was all good - no grain from Taste of the Wild. It's salmon and chicken.
It has a picture of a BIG CAT. san says puma. I dunno. But san says I need to eat so I can have BIG CAT energy. She warms it a little and puts the food through a sieve mixed with a little Whiskers beef and chicken gravy. I usually finish all the food. But  during the day I do eat my renal kibble- a little at a time as is my wont.

I am still a little thin and I vocalise much more. I have some up and down days still but san has accepted this as I am already 17 years old and am sometimes unsteady on my feet. We both look forward to more up days that we know will come in the future.

Anyway san and I and all of us here are very pleased and we want to thank all you guys once again for helping us through this time. We know it would only get better. After all I did chase my sister yesterday. Although san was not pleased, she said she was glad I have the energy to do even that.
Ok san. It's time for a nap.

Yup. We are all glad especially me as I plan to ambush ...err..play wif him some time soon. I am making plans.

Just Do It Megat.

It was very good to see Megat eating is breakfast this morning, at 4.50 am. He was alert and waited patiently for me to serve his wet food. Last night after opening 4-5 cans, he finally decided that he would eat Friskies' mackerel and tuna. It was 7 years ago that he had eaten Friskies as I was told that it was not the best food to give cats, even community cats as it was sweet. But, for a kitty like Megat, any food he was willing to eat is the food I would give him.

So this morning he ate his Friskies' as well I was very glad that he also decided to eat some of what was on Bujang's plate, which was Applelaws chicken with pumpkin. Well, he licked the pumpkin and left the chicken. I told him I was glad that there was no need for force-feeding this morning. So he just had Vit B, C Caps and salbutamol.

Last night we tried to give him the duphalac but he spat it all out. Cousin R reminded me that we could give him Laxatone instead which was we did, about 1.5 in of it. At about 9-nish I heard Megat yelling and growling away in his night cage. This is always a signal that he wants me to either clean his litter, clean his cage or clean him! Indeed Megat had done his business and there was poo in the litter. The not so good thing was the poo was soft. So 1.5 is too much for the guy. After a major clean-up, he rested for a bit with me and then I tucked him in for the night.

This morning I saw that he had eaten all of his 20g of kibble. HURRAH!

I had also given him a firm pep-talk as advised by cat_aunty. No more advice and soft talk. I told him that since we had both gone through so much together, it is only reasonable for him to make an effort to stay with me and at least make an effort to eat. I also said that if he did not try to eat I would have to bring him back to hospital where he would have to be on the drip! I spoke to him during his 35-min sang hwang lingzhi suppository sessions where I would have to cuddle him to allow for all of the sang hwang to be absorbed into his system. I just told him what is what and that we will always be with him whatever he decides to do. But I hope that he would eat so his body would be healthy :)) Then we had a cuddle and I sang him a song cos he needs to keep still for the sang hwang. I had also given him his 1/2 (2mg) cyproheptidene pill in a capsule after his dinner.

So its either the cypro (unlikely as it would take several days to kick in) or just a cat's nature to 'just do it' when it suits him. Whatever it is, I am glad that he ate his food as usual and had done his business.

This is my favourite picture of Megat taken early this year.

Megat on Monday

Megat is doing a little better yesterday. He ate his breakfast by himself and his dinner as well. It was less than usual but at least he did it himself. Our animal communicator friend Fern, spoke to him and had this to say, "Megat listened to me well but (I) felt he doesn't quite have appetite. He (was) silently relieved to know (that he had) nothing serious i.e. no lymphoma."

Several months ago Megat sounded different. Fern said - " M was in a  lazy mood and our session went well. He said he was a bit bored but he's alright. He said he's relaxing and yawned at me. I said don't worry about your health. You are still young at heart. He smiled and waved his paw and said "nah" But he's cool about it." So I hope to get him up to this mood of just relaxing.

But he didn't get out of the bedroom for the whole day and certainly there was no poo. So that is still an issue for us. He didn't take to the duphalac much, spitting it out in every turn. But alter in the evening, he was quite lively and walked about the house. Maybe its because Cousin R is around and the house is indeed livelier.

This morning, he licked his food again and so I had to give him food in a syringe - pure beef mixture with some anchovy gravy. I also saw he had eaten some of his 20g kibble.

His routine for the morning now is (after food):
1 Vit B pill (for overall health and appetite)
1/2 C Cap capsule (for immunity, cell health and energy)
0.1 salbutamol
1 Kidney Activator capsule
9 ml food in syringes (unless he decides to eat by himself)
2 ml duphalac (1 ml in the am and 1 ml in the pm)
I have decided to retry the cyproheptidene but only 1/4 in the am. He HATES this and I have not been able to give it to him in the pill form, mixed with honey or even mixed with food. Later I will try to get 1 cm capsule and put it in there for the evening meal.

His evening routine is (before food as the suppository needs 45 mins to be absorbed):
1 Vit B pill
1/2 C Cap
1 Kidney Activator capsule
1.5 ml lingzhi extract + 2 ml colloidal silver+ papaya and pumpkin (to mask taste)
2 ml duphalac (1 ml at 5 and 1 ml later at night)
1 lingzhi suppository
250 ml Hartmann's Solution
and the cyproheptidene. (after food)

Actually the only addition now is the Vit B, C Cap and cyproheptidene. The rest is the usual arsenal that he gets for about 4 years already, after his 1st bout of lymphoma.
Its a pretty long list san. 4 years? I am getting pretty tired of it!

No Lymphoma!

          No lymphoma? None?

That is what the ultra sound found. He has no more lymphoma and his intestines are fine. Dr S thinks it could also be due to the sang hwang suppositories that he has had. During this harrowing time he had a suppository everyday, even on Sunday! So in about a month, he has an all clear.

The bad news is that his intestine is full of hard poo and Dr S said this could also contribute to him not wanting to eat. He feels full all the time.

So Dr Ly gave him microlax and in a matter of minutes he had pooped on the examination table. Dr Ly also added that vincristine could cause constipation as well.

I guess Megat got his revenge !

On the matter of his appetite, it is still an uphill task. But we are more optimistic as now it is just constipation and NOT lymphoma.
Must you discuss this! Surely no one is interested in constipation!!

Easy Saturday

This is Megat after 1/2 prednisolone and 1 ml of Appelin. He also had about 14 ml of baby food. I had mixed the baby food with a little beef gravy from Whiskers. He did not get any fever yesterday after his vincristine injection which was a surprise to me and did not need the cold compress. This morning he walked out of his cage immediately but as usual had little appetite to eat breakfast.

I will try to get him some kitten food to see if he would eat that. On a very bright note he ate almost all of his kibble last night. Hurray!
Can I also have kitten food san?
      Bujang hanging out with grandma
