TGIF

My message for today is a simple one. Adopt a commcat and save one life from the hazards of life on the streets.

This kitty, now called Bluey came to where san and another caregiver feed commcats on Monday. The place was not a safe one and san felt that this cat needed emergency help. So they got together and removed the cat from the very dangerous car park that 2 other cats are now still residing. On Wednesday night, some one came to take him away for fostering and now he already has a forever home. He will be going to his new home with a doggie and human brother this Saturday. We are very pleased at this.
san is now taking care of Blackie and he is at my home. I don't like him much but I keep an eye on him all the time just in case he has ideas of staying in my house. He is already taking over my kitchen. san is trying to help him with his kidneys by making sure he has subq fluids twice a week and he goes for acupuncture once a week as well. His cough is now better with the TCM. san thinks it will take a longer time to get him adopted and she is trying to get him some exposure through our FB. She hopes that he would also be saved from the life of a commcat like I was. Please pray for this little kitty.

Comm cat Blackie is in the house

Our commcat Blackie needed urgent help so we catnapped him and sent him to the vet.  He has kidney problems with his creatinine on 2.9 and his BUN values were high. His X-ray confirmed his cough and phlegm problems as well. He was given 250 ml SubQ at the vet's and we brought him to acupuncture to help him with his chest.

It seemed he may have been in many fights as his top saddle was too tough for the SubQ needle as well as the acupuncture needles. But at least we managed to help him through.

He was very good at acupuncture so we were very relieved.

Yesterday was his 2nd SubQ and acupuncture and already he has not coughed or sneezed at all. He will stay with me for another week as he has to go back to the vet for review of his cough and kidney test.

He has an even temper with a soft meow. I am trying to get him re-homed so he won't have to stay in the carpark and get sick again. But of cos it difficult to re- home a black cat and one that has kidney issues will be even more difficult but one step at a time.

Popps was not at all pleased that we have a cat in her kitchen. She screamed and threw such a fit and spent much time patrolling the house.

Tuesday Thots

It is not easy to live the life of a community cat. Like Popps said to Fern last Sunday after her encounter with him in the house, " Out there was tough so he should be able to find a home like me." I am glad she has a lot of confidence in our ability to help him find a home :). The mediators got us a place to board him so he does not have to be  released to the carpark again. I was rather anxious as I had tried to board him once (read here) and he got sick. Even the vet then told me I should release him back to his own space, the carpark, where he would feel safe. I was reminded of this post that I had done for him by an administrator of a Facebook site for cats called Kittens for Adoption. She had asked me where the clinic that I took Jeffrey boy was. Now Jeffrey is on her site as well.

So I was very relieved to have gotten some pictures of him in his present boarding facility. He looked relaxed and calm. I can say with certainty that he can actually live with other cats now, when I am asked the question and yes, he uses the litter as well. I am sure this might increase his chances to be adopted although the reality here is cats his age don't get adopted easily. There was someone who offered to foster him before but now she has changed her mind as she does not have the required grills to her flat.

The cats all looked so laid back and relaxed. He is also getting Reiki as well as I was anxious that he feels well. He can't afford to get sick like before as then he might lose his place here.

His other caregiver told me that he and his buddy are not in the carpark often these days and therefore he should be safe. But I am afraid that he might get caught by pest control if the complainant calls them although the TC said they would call the mediators first. So better be in boarding I think.

Tuesday Thots

We want to thank everyone who has thought kindly about our comcat Putih. We think she would be well enough in one or two days to go back. We ourselves are very well and are glad to be loved and healthy.

Our friend Fern had spoken to Putih and we are glad that she knows she is here to get better and is comfortable. She is now making a lot more noise which means she is ready to go home. We have told her to run away from the bad kitties and not stay to fight them as she may get hurt again. But of course we do not know what will happen in future. We are just glad we were able to help her for a bit.
