Thursday Tweet

She said she is doing well and is certainly more upbeat. She says she is just getting on with things and is starting to enjoy being with others.
I enjoy this most of all with San.

Wednesday Whisperz

I told San that I had not made an appearance here for some time and today I thought it would be a good day for me. No I don't really have anything new to say. I am just quite bored at acupuncture and wish for more fun things to do.

I have much improved in my own habits and point of view. San asked if we should post my conversation with Craig, my Reiki advisor. I said ok.

Craig: I have now completed Akira's treatment. Akira was actually pretty chatty (for her) today. I asked how she was and she said she was really well and certainly seemed in good spirits. She said she likes her routine, food and comfort at the moment. I asked how she felt within herself and she said she feels much more focused and centred. She does not feel like she is a victim or that the other cats (Tanaka in particular) reduce her confidence anymore. She likes herself much more now and feels she is just as important as the other cats and is an important part of the family. I asked her about her over grooming and she said she does it because it's what she does. It is very much a habit now, although it does not feel like it is being directed by insecurities anymore. This is wonderful to hear her say as it seems to show that she is moving forward.

I told San she should get a Reiki Advisor for herself. She asked me who will give the advisor the blue papers to pay him. Hmmmmm.  I told San that she can share my advisor. I am a kind and generous kitty and loves San very much.

The calm before the storm

Bujang and Popps in relative calm.

This used to belong to Bujang. He loved the peace and quiet of grandma's room and her small and tidy bed.
This used to be my space
Now of cos Popps rests here. He has not protested as yet. He very patiently has given up many of his spaces and now feels the stress of not having a space of his own.

He doesn't sit much here at all.
I do not know if his back hurts him when he sits here so it's taken over by
             And his long time obsession

He told Fern last Sunday and he now tries to leave the cats alone as he wants time to himself and to spend time doing things with me. He wants peace and quiet.

Yesterday, I think he got really fed up with Popps who refused to allow him into the kitchen for dinner and later  they got into a little fight. There was yelling, screaming and Popps 's fur flew all over grandma's room. They both got time out and I got bitten by Bujang on the foot as well.

He did not make noise to get out from the room as he knew he was in trouble and Popps stayed in her cage the whole time they were on time out.

Yesterday they both had a session with Craig, a reiki master who is also trying to help Bujang with his back problems.

Bujang had this to say:
"He said he had enough of Poppy encroaching on his space and pushing the boundaries. He resented this as she is 'nice' but keeps pushing closer and closer."
Bujang spent half of the night sitting close to me and grooming on my blanket. He has not sat this close to me for a long long long time. Cat_aunty said he was sorry for biting my foot and losing his temper with me. He did not even yell the whole of last night and after this, he went to sleep on his fav new sleeping place - the upside down chair.
Miss Bossy Boots has only this to say
"She called Bujang a bully but quickly retracted this and admitted that she did try to get too close".

I hope these 2 would make up or at least give each other space.

Thursday with Popps

I have been a very busy cat. I decided to supervise san when she was doing chores. Here I was giving her tips on laundry. I can't imagine how much laundry the beans have every week. san says most of it belong to us kitties but I'm not so sure.
I had also sat to look at her cleaning skills. I must say she was thorough as I could sit comfortably on the kitchen floor to rest. Of course I was also waiting for a treat of beef. That was why I was near the fridge.
This was clean linen day. I had a nap in moonlight.
This is my vantage point. I sit here when the beans are busy with chores in the kicthen or when they're cooking. I remind myself  that it is probably better to be a kitty (in a good home)
san took this picture of me last week as she was preparing to celebrate Chinese New Year. I had to remind her that the first day of Spring was only yesterday and so Chinese New Year would be in two weeks. Sheesh! Even_I_ know that.

All in all I must say that everything is satisfactory and I am glad to be here where everyone loves me and I have a home. Now the only other thing is for me to convince san to stop cleaning my ears. She said I had gunk in there and it was unhealthy. I reminded her that I am 10 years old and had never been sick in all that time (except for a few fights with other cats). Secretly though I am glad to have someone wo would do all this for me (she told Craig that) but I have to keep up appearances!

Akira 0.1 Acupuncture Protocol (3)

This morning we arrived at our appointment at 8.40 am and the doctor allowed us into the room to just rest. Akira was suspicious and stayed in her carrier to wait for the doctor.

She stayed in here for a full 10 minutes and turned around only once.

I think she was a little nervous as she knew what was to come. There was another cat in the next room and it did not sound happy although it was not complaining.
This morning she was wired to some electrodes to stimulate her points. She was very quiet and the doctor said again that she was a nice and friendly cat and not a complaining one. I guess he does not know her when she wants something. Then she would whine at length :). This process took only 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes, the machine played a soft Chinese song. I thought it was to calm her but the doc said that it merely signaled that the procedure with the electrodes was over. :)
A close-up with the electrodes on her needles

This morning she stayed close to me but she was relaxed throughout the whole procedure. She meowed only once. Otherwise she kept still while I sang her a lullaby. I think I should just put the lullaby on tape and play it to her when we're there.

She was eager to leave once she has eaten her TCM mixture. The doc managed to give her quite a lot of it in 3 small doses. I would do the same later. I told the doc that we would give her the TCM in the evening as well and from tomorrow, we would try to give her the meds twice a day as stipulated. The doc took some more pictures of her as well.

He asked me if there was any improvement. I told him that I had not discerned much in terms of her overgrooming as she stayed in her room much of the time. But I noticed that she was much more affectionate to me and instead of just sitting on my lap at night for our nightly ritual, she would sit close to my chest. He seemed to think this was good progress but I think it's time I look closely at her bald spots. The doc did say that it would take some time and change would come gradually. I think this is as it should be and I told Akira that we would take it slow and easy. We have another appointment in 3 days.

In other news, it's time for EASY PEASY SUNDAY pictures.
I thought this 4 would best sum up our week. It had been a very hectic week for us as Tanaka and Akira had their annual checkups and we are changing Tanaka's diet to a renal one although we still give him the usual canned food. Akira had 3 appointments with Dr Oh and we had to figure out the best way to give her the TCM. Bujang and Putih will go for their check ups when our vet comes back from vacation. Putih has been playing a little more and she has a favourite routine on the ESS although we have not had the chance to take any pictures of her rolling her ball about the house. All the kitties have had their treatments with Craig and he had helped them out with their emotional difficulties as well.  But mostly we spend our days just hanging out with family. We give thanks that apart from the usual December checkups and little hiccups, we are all in fine shape.

Monday Mood

I am too cool for this
On Saturday, she decided to sit on the bed as it was fresh linen day. I was curious to see why she was in and out of the bedroom all afternoon and so decided to see what she was up to. And here she was. She is a kitty who can stare down a lion!

I decided that she was ready to go outside. We had posted about this yesterday but I thought it would be nice to have something in video as well. For a first timer, in a walking jacket, she did very well. My other cats took a few days (except Tanaka who took to it like a fish to water) to learn how to walk with harness before they graduated to a walking jacket. When Fern asked about it she said:

"I had been walking and running outside a lot all these years" so it felt strange.I told her this is how your mummy helps you to see things outside so you won't get bored. Then I asked her why she tried to get away. She said she thought she could. I told her never to do that again as it scares everyone and she is safe in the house. She said she knew.

Note: She has weekly Reiki as well with Fern. I hope to get her to feel better and more in tune with the amigos. So she gets to talk to Fern weekly as well. Its like having your own psychiatrist. :). As with everyone else, she has monthly sessions with Craig.

Easy Peasy Sunday

This week we had easy days where we just lazed about in the afternoons. Our routines had changed a little because it's the Month of the Hungry Ghost and there is always the smell of smoke in the air from the burning of hell money. Bujang did not like walking along the corridors much as there was a lot of noise and smoke. Almost always he would just walk for about 5 minutes before he decides to go home. This quite surprised me as he would make it a point to walk 30 minutes or so along the corridor before and he had told Craig to ask me if he could go for longer walks as well. He told Fern last week however that the smoke and noise made him uncomfortable and he was quite ok with just shorter walks.

Akira and I spend a lot more time together after that one day when she told Fern that she was scared to be in her room. We sit together in the computer room at night. This is usually the last thing we do before I put her to bed - 30 minutes sitting on my lap for quiet time where we would read, look at picture books, grade papers or chat. Sometimes we just listen to her cat CD.

Tanaka's routines have not changed much at all but I notice he does not take long walks as well. He has also changed his route when walking along the corridor preferring the side where there is less smoke and of course he likes just sitting outside, right in front of the house:).

The reason our rainbow kitty Totoro is on the weekly collage was because I dreamt last Friday night that he came back to be with us. It was a strange dream as I knew that he had gone away (in the dream) and was surprised that he came to play with the rest of the kitties. All the four of them had a good time playing chase. I was thinking about it and of course I had been thinking about him quite a lot seeing that it would be September quite soon. I also heard from Laura Stinchfield, the animal communicator, who had spoken with them that sometimes when we dream about our rainbow kitties, it is because the kitties know that we miss them and therefore come back. They don't always come back in a dream as it takes a lot of energy to make a dream sequence reasonable (unlike the usual jumbled sequences of dreams). Of course it could also be my memories of them together when he was alive. Whatever it is I want to thank Totoro, Tunabelly, for visiting :) I didn't see Megat in the dream though but will end the post with a little picture just the same.

Saturday Easy

                                  Another quiet day at home.
Akira is doing some work with Craig to make her more confident in her self. Bujang has come a long way and he is now more able to sit by himself in open spaces.

Like in this picture that we posted before. This was a first for Bujang as too open to everything.
Craig asked Akira why she kept biting her fur and her reply was that she 'was not confident enough to take part in life' but at the same time she really wanted to do so and so she took it out on herself. But we will see how she progresses in confidence.

Saturday Easy

I told san that I have not been in the blog pictures for many many days and today should be my turn. So here I am sitting by san's window this morning before breakfast. The teddy bear behind me belonged to my rainbow brother Totoro but we like him there as it was his favourite place and we feel his spirit close to us everyday.

san: Since Bujang is doing well with Craig, the Reiki teacher who is helping him with his emotional traumas, I thought Akira might be able to get the same help from Craig to help her with her overgrooming.  The little fuzz that was growing over her limbs is now no more.
But at least the skin is not red nor were scabs evident so she has not bitten through it. It surprises me as she is more confident than before and is so much calmer and happier. So it may be the case that it is a habitual action.

No worries san. We will soon get all this sorted out as well.
