Tuesday on Wednesday

This problem has been plaguing us for years. I have a real fear that Bujang would fall through the hammock or worse, Megat. I bought this cat tree for Bujang when he was only about 1 year old and now he is 10. The company that brought in this cat tree is no longer bringing in any more of this kind. So drastic measures have to be taken. Either I dismantle everything and buy them a new cat tree that is not so much fun sans hammock or I try to save the hammock.
What are you going to do san? This is my favourite place.
All done. Sister N said she would try to see if she can save the hammock and I was to buy some quilted material. So last Friday, I went to Spotlight and got the ONLY quilted material available. It was pink and red! But I thought Bujang likes pink and red anyway, so it should be ok.
 On Tuesday afternoon.
Sister N brought back the finished product as Bujang spent the weekend wondering where the hammock was. He looked at the hammock on the chair.
b: Hmmmm... I don't think so....
The finished product. We decided to warp the hammock from the outside so  it would still have the kitty smell. Bujang is very particular about things like this and very suspicious of new objects.
Now it was only a matter of time...

Hello

What's that noise?

who is there?

I finally found a cat tree tall (CATRY) enough for her to look out of the window. She is very curious and would climb up the tall bookshelf to look out when she hears noises. Now she has a choice of climbing up on this. The chair placed next to her cat tree allows her to hide herself if there is a need to. No one can see her from outside as the windows are tinted. So she is prefectly safe. I sometimes open the windows for her so she can breathe the air outside. As she does not like the outside and is rather timid, I am not afraid that she would get out through the grills. She would sometimes just sit on the cat tree looking out. Hardly anyone notices her enough to stop and say hello as she is hardly seen at all (even with the window pane open).

Cat Tree #03

The no-fuss version...

What the look-out area looks like...

Grandma told me no one sat in the Cat Tree #02 version. I guess Bujang had not gotten over his fall and the rest of the amigos just distrust it. They do sit on their usual cat tree - the one on the left. I got this when Bujang was about 6 months and now he is 3 years old and many times his old size too. The only one who can fit quite comfortably on it is Ms Akira. Megat has yet to sit on it.
I thought I would just try to use one plank for them to lean on and they can actually just lean on the window grill (covered by the curtains). So it would allow them some curve-time I think. I have to see what happens. I have put the cat bed together again with the original fleece pillow. I have to see if Megat takes to it.

Cat Tree #2

My second try at building the cat tree...

This was what I had done to the cat tree this evening. I think any cat worth his/her salt would know it would be dangerous to lean in the wrong way. We will see what will happen. I still have to get the two planks but it might be difficult as the workshop is already packed and in the new premises. Aiyah...
If this fails, I would just have to remove the bed and nails and Bujang would have his fav cat tree back at the window. Megat can have the cat bed as Bujang's snugs are coming apart at the seams from wear and tear and laundry. Since Megat likes the snugs, I am sure he would take to this cat bed just as easily.

If you can't buy 'em....

You try to build 'em with some stuff...

Toro's verdict - the sink is waay better man!

I have been trying to get the amigo a bigger seating space on a cat tree but the going is really tough. I don't think its wise to buy cat trees online as the shipping cost itself would cost more than the cat tree although I had seen seating of 24 inches in diameter.
My friend gave me the idea of building my own cat seat out of a bed and I had nailed this bed to Bujang's existing cat tree. I then placed the fleece mat in it and placed the cat blanket for good measure. The amigos looked at it suspiciously. Yesterday grandma told me that Bujang slept in it and this afternoon she found the blanket on the floor. We think Bujang was too comfortable and fell off as there was really nothing to arrest his fall. :(
I have to get two planks and nail them to the sides of the flat board so it would give him some leeway to stretch. I hope the experience did not put him off as I really have tried to get him something bigger to no avail.
