Oh Tanaka!

Tanaka went to see Dr Lalani yesterday as he had an issue with his hind leg. He had landed badly a month ago but I thought since he was not limping, his leg was better. Not so...

Dr Lalani encouraged him to walk (using his leash which I brought) and did not see a limp but when he felt his muscles there was a ropiness in his left leg thigh which meant a great deal of tension. He also had a tightness in his middle rib cage. He might have hit against the edge of the cupboard when he tried to jump on it or when he was playing with Bujang and tried to escape by jumping to the top of the night cages which he does often.

So Dr Lalani had massaged his left leg and his rib cage to lessen the tension. I think this would explain why Tanaka was not jumping in the usual way with his toys.  He would usually do many twists and high jumps to catch the lure.

I was advised to massage his leg as well at home and bring him back in two weeks.

I am glad I brought him to see Dr Lalani anyway eventhough his leg seemed to have healed as if not I would not know about his mid riff at all.

This morning he was a little unsteady when he wanted to jump off my headboard onto the next cupboard. Usually he could just sail to the top.

Just Hanging Out wif san

Yesterday san changed the bedlinen and I thot the colour would not distract from my beauty. I also wanted to stay in the room wif san as she was doing her school work. The afternoons are usually quiet in my house. From here, I can also see the outside with no effort at all.
san was singing me my special song when she took a break. I listened carefully in case she got the words wrong. I want to hear my name in each and effury line.
Finally san said I should sit in a way that would allow her to take my full picture. I said Okie dokie. Then san told me I fell asleep for the rest of the time. It was furry restful.

Monday Request

I think I would need more food san. I am starving! I do not like the one with gravy, just the ones with tuna and chicken. Hold the gravy please.

No, I don't really want to...

                        Lalalala...
I still don't see you. No clicky boxes!
Can you please stop. It's making my head spin. (He pretends not to see me but he is watching my every move!)
This san will not stop until I look at the clicky thing.  Maybe I will give hur a chance. Just this once.
                     Is this ok!

Shenanigan-Time

When its shenanigan- time, I always make sure that the coast is clear and I appear to be 'innocently just watching'. This is a must as human beans are furry good at catching a cat who 'just wants to have fun!'. My motto for shenanigan-time is 'if you act innocent, you are!' Then I do what a cat must...
I sit in front offur the little gerl's room. I am doing nuffing! Just sitting. Hahaha...BUT I watch her effury move in case I need to persuade her to 'have fun'. I am a good bruffer who is looking out for his little sisfur. san told me that the gerl is older than I am but I don't fink so. I am BOSS so offur course I am older!
Sometimes san tells me to leave her alone. I usually do as she says when I know I am in trouble but neffur fear. I know san cannot resist my purty face...
Yesterday I was quite successful at getting my own pot of grass. I persuaded my little sisfur to run and so san had to put me in a time-out but I looked at her sadly. Then san gave me my pot of grass. I think this is good training fur san too. This is a universal cat secret - make your person reward you for the naughty fings that you did. I am quite good at this!
 Yum..yummm...yum...
san always gives me a pot just for myself as I lurve grass. This is biograss and san buys the seeds from the petshop. I do not like the wheatgrass from the supermarket. san says the reason I like my own pot of grass  might be because I like the smells of the sun and soil on it. It's also much softer than the wheatgrass. She needs to plant a new pot every 2 weeks.
san also broughted out our new cat seat as our red tent has gone to 'the dogs!'. She bought it using the many many papers that she had. san told me they were vouchers she got from buying us the many tins of cat food that we need. My bruffer Bujang sat in it first. I was not pleased as I wanted to sit in it. So when Bujang got up to eat, I activated my shenanigan button and....
 GOT IT. HURRAY!
For those offur you who are furry observant, yes, that grey cat behind me used to belong to my bruffer Toro who is now at the Bridge. san put him there so he can always be wif us.
Offur course I was furry tired after all that and had a good night's sleep dreaming of tomorrow....
san says sorry fur the blurry pic ...

HMMM....

We are seriously not pleased that san is going away T_O_D_A_Y! and leaving us alone. Well..ok not alone. Cousin R will be staying over some nights to take care offur us and so will san's sister N. Ok, maybe we will be ok wifout hur for 5 whole days. She told us she would be in Cambodia to see Angkor Wat and generally take a break.

Also san read that today 21 Dec 2012 is thought to be endoftheworld . Hmmm...in that case san should be wif us and not traipsing around. I do not know what these beans are up to. But one fing I do know is that we would get many treats from our sitters, esp Cousin R, as they all think we are soooo cute...and we are :))

Just Because and some words...

 My purrfect profile...
What do you mean its NOT about me? Who is it about? Oh the little gurrl! Ok just this once.
A close-up of Ms Akira's face  in the afternoon light.

She is 8 years old already (Feb) and so many of those years were spent in her room. But nowadays, after the osteopath had adjusted her hind legs and spine, she is more vocal and tells me that she wants to get out more often. So I try to make sure that she gets more time outside  These pictures were taken last Friday and she spent about 4 hours in the afternoon outside in the living room when the 2 boys were sequestered in the bedroom. She had a fine time.
Hmmm....I want to do that as well...
 What's aoutside this window? Hmmmm....birds
 Another picture? Again?
There is nothing like a good scratch on the boy's cat tree!!
I like the peace and quiet.

I bought a cream for the eczema and it worked quite well. Its just that she has to use the cone for 5 minutes so she would not lick her legs straightaway. That is the only difficult thing as she could not see where she was going. I had used the soft KONG cone and its opaque. So I have to be with her for 5 minutes as she negotiates the cone! Last night, I had wiped her legs and belly with warm water and sea salt. After 1 minute, she visibly relaxed and Cousin R and I were able to wipe her down quite easily. Then I had powdered her with dusting powder made up of chamomile extract and linden flowers. It is supposed to relieve skin irritations and also for sensitive skin. Then I put the cone on her but as she was quite scared of it, I had flattened the cone so it covers her shoulders instead. It was as surprise to me that she sat quietly and didn't attempt to lick the powder off. So maybe this evening I would do that as well to see if it is not  a once off thing. She seemed fine with the whole thing and later at night, we went for our usual 3 minute walk. :) I am glad that she is gradually growing more confident of herself. Thanks to our friends The Poupounette for giving us the idea of using 'hot spot' creams for dogs. We got the one for dogs and cats and it was very useful.

You can't stop me but you can try

I case the joint to see who is at home. If it is grandma then I know I can do what I want. If it is san, then...
I will behave like the good boy that she finks I am. I fink I am furry smart. I look at my haus and then decide. Nuffing passes by my keen eyesight and nose and offur course my brain...hahaha. san knows I will do many fings to get what I want.
san thot she was furry clever and did this BUT I, Tanaka climbed the mesh..
and actually managed to put my head through the curtain gap! Then she took away the mesh but she didn't think I would throw myself onto the curtain. Once the flimsy tape fell, I was inside in a flash!
I must say san was better the next time. She put stronger velcro and removed the gaps! I was quite confused and tried to jump the gate but I have to say, it was not furry successful. But I threw myself on the curtain anyway - just to see :)
Then on Tue we had a delivery. Actually san broughted it home. Bujang and I examined it carefully but we didn't know what it was. I cannot read the writing well and san did not tell us what it was.
WHAT!?? I DON't BELIEVE SAN WOULD DO THIS!

A better version of the gate. I had inverted a second gate so Tanaka would not be able to come up with any more shenanigans! Thanks dell for the suggestion.
(I had posted this pic before but I think it serves a better purpose here)
I can't believe that san could be so devious. But I will think offur somefing. You can depend on me fur this.
san: Yup. I think you will try. That is why I love you so much as you keep me on my toes :)

The Tanaka Report

I would like to say that eversince san came home from Hanoi, she appreciates me more. She said she did not see many cats in Hanoi. Actually she saw only 2 in the 6 days that she was there. So I get to walk almost every afternoon along the corridor. Here I showed san what a good kitty  was.
I smelled the flowers and especially this little curry tree. san says when it grows bigger, we would have birds as birds like eating the curry pods for the seeds! Hmmm...bird pie! But I wanted to taste some of the yummy plants so I had to pretend that I was only melling them first. I had my eye on grandma's jasmine! So after the curry plant, I walked towards the jasmine...lalalalalala....
san was pleased to see me so appreciative offur our small garden. I continued to smell the jasmine. They do smell good though but I fink they will taste better.
san decided to take my pikshur from the top. Oh!Oh!
