Just Because

This is my new Christmas ribbon. We don't have new collars this year as San thinks we have too many already. So san decided to give away a few of our collars to other catses. I was very relieved she didn't give away my red one.

Today I also went to see my acupuncturist to get him to help with my pain issues.  I have 2 more sessions and then san says we will have to see what to do then. Right now I need to rest for a bit...maybe the whole day.

Just Because

Finally I am here in the blog. I have been very well and have grown some new fur, much to the delight of the humans in the house. But san says its still much too slow and she asked me to take it slow with the pulling of fur. I told her I will think about it.

Just Because Akira

Yesterday I came back in the afternoon. Akira saw me and meowed several times so I had to sit with her. She decided that sleeping next to me was just the right thing to do. So did I.

Ms Akira and the rules of the house.

Yes little human. You can talk to me and I will listen if you don't touch me. Maybe just a little bit under my chin but no more. Thank you for respecting my space.

Sunday with Akira

Akira wanted to sit on my lap and she would tell me exactly when and where she wants to do that.

Pins! Get them off!

Yesterday Akira went to her acupuncture sessions. And was very chill there. She just melted into the table and sat staring like this into space. I have requested that Dr Oh gives her acupuncture for her pancreatitis instead of overgrooming as she is at present taking zylkene to keep her relaxed and calm.

I also spoke to her vet Dr T and asked his opinion on the zylkene as well as how it would impact her already elevated calcium. Dr T did some research and told me as it's a natural source she is in no danger and there was no protocol on taking zylkene for a longer period or even a higher dose.

But we finally settled on giving her a break from zylkene after this stretch for a month to see how she does and whether her licking is any worse than now. If not I may leave it for a longer time before starting again. If she begins to lick too excessively I will have to put her in her e-collar again so she will not hurt her skin. I am already settled with the idea that she may just be bald as long as she doesn't tear her skin or worry it too much.

Please let me get some sleep

You do know San, that I need 20 hours of sleep. Keep that noise down ya?

It's too hot for anything else

She has been napping for some time. I have taken out her collar as she has been to the vet twice in succession - once for blood test and another for the ultra sound. The imagist found thickened intestine walls and the vet said it might be inflammation or worse cancer. He recommended that she goes for an endoscopy to be sure as she is only 12 and on good health. The heart murmur is not an immediate danger as well. He recommend that she goes today but I wanted her to get some rest from all that poking and peering. So she is going on Monday instead. That will allow her some days of peace before she needs to fast again for yet another procedure. I hope this is the last one.

Akira at the vet

It's time for everyone's half yearly medical check ups since everyone in the house has some medical issues.  Akira has been very well apart from the overgrooming issues and last year she had elevated amylase indicators. The vet said it was not something to be worried about in a cat if in isolation.

Yesterday though the news was not good for Ms Akira. Her amylase had continued to rise coupled now with a increased indicator for Lipase. The vet suggested pancreatitis. Dr Oh suggested that in the next round of tcm, we should do a full blown pancreatitis tcm with some overgrooming , instead of the other way round.

An even harder blow is that Ms Akira has a heart murmur and it seems there is nothing to be done for it but take medicataion. Her vet Dr T suggested Fortekor to begin with to take care of her heart. But there is nothing to take care of her valves. Dr Oh suggested lotus root as it is believed to help with the heart and we already have the powder for that.

She is going for an eco cardiagram and an abdominal cardiagram today as the imagist (from another practice) will be away next week and the practice had squeezed her in as she is a referral.

After this, Dr Tay will further advise us as to her care. I was very shocked yesterday as I did not expect the heart murmur. I was expecting some bad news about her liver or pancreas. The happy news is that her kidneys are well and her liver values have returned to normal.

Ms Akira is not a happy cat as this will be the second time (in a row) that she has to fast but she is a quick learner and had opted to sleep instead of making continuous requests for food like yesterday.

Easy Peasy Sunday

Akira lately has taken a great liking to sitting here. This bed actually belongs to Popps but all the other cats sit in here as well. Popps doesn't seem to mind although I notice she has used it less frequently.

Morning routine

As the days are so humid Akira had decided that just hanging out like this is better than sitting on my lap. So these sessions start both of our days. Thank goodness for this.

Saturday Sunpuddle

A rare moment of Akira enjoying a sunpuddle at the door. Bujang joined her a few minutes later. He is very protective of Akira and would beat up anyone who causes her grief.

Akira's 12 Gotcha Day

We celebrated Akira's birthday yesterday although she was gotched on 21 Feb. She was gotched from the SPCA. When she came to the house she was fearsome and independent and fell in love with Bujang, who admittedly was my only other cat. Now she is well on her way to getting her groove back with the help of many people and cats alike.

I got her this collar just for her birthday. She looks like a sunny sunflower and it goes well with her calico markings.

She loves this tuna mousse and she would eat almost anything if she gets this at the end of it. So she now eats all her tcm and not spit any of it as she gets the mousse at the end. So she swallows her meds as she swallows the mousse.

                        Yummy Yum Yum

The tuna mousse that she simply loves. When it's time for her to take pills I know I can pull her if I put it in this mousse, that is if she still likes it then.
