Welcome home Skywalker

When my cat Tanaka told Chris that he was scared when Bujang 'disappears', I felt sad for him. He doesn't remember that the other cats went to the bridge because of illness. He said he was scared to be left alone and Bujang doesn't actually like him at all. Bujang thinks that Tanaka is not a cat but a pet. I don't know how cats recognize each other but needless to say I felt that I should make an effort.

Sky is from a hoarder situation of 35 cats in a tiny hdb flat, sitting in faeces and she had never seen the outside of a crate. She was overjoyed at the space she now has and kept looking at the sky and light. One of these days I will put up the conversation.

A mere 3 year old kitty, she had 4 stillborn kittens as she herself was very thin and malnourished. SHe has already 'commandeered' the house and plans to live her best life. I am  glad she is with us although sometimes I see the boys looking at me with ...

Ms Monday and the news

Her new guardians sent us this picture of Molly (previously Ms Monday) yesterday. It seems she is busy helping with the laundry.

Hopeful Sunday

We are pleased to share some hopeful news about Rezki. This morning one of the hairdressers at the place I go to said she wanted to adopt him. YAY!!!

I had asked them last week but she said she would have to ask her mother and her husband first. They both said yes as they used to have a black cat as well who died of old age.

I am very hopeful as they did not abandoned their old cat and had brought him with them when they moved house. She lives on the 7th floor but her house has grills and she would also mesh.

I said  Rezki can go for a month trial when I get back from a short break in Penang  and all is settled.  I hope this materializes for Rez.

Ms Monday on Tuesday

Our rescue kitty Ms Monday is at Guest Haus, a cat facility that also has an adoption room for kitties in need of of a home. She is now sterilised (she was in heat before in the carpark) and is an adorable and sweet kitty who is chatty and loves people. She is going for a blood test to check for FIV/Felv as well as vaccination. If she is negative for both, she would be put on their adoption room with other cats. We are not putting her back in the carpark as she would not survive that. Commcats who are too friendly with people live very dangerous lives.

Jeffrey on Sunday

Jeffrey napping at the adoption event
And napping some more no matter how noisy the crowd was.

Today Jeffrey had  another adoption event. Thank goodness it was indoors. His cage was next to some kittens so he had no need to 'work' so he took many naps. He was calm and took everything in his stride. He had one enquiry from a woman with 2 bunnies. As he is a calm cat who minds his own business maybe this can work out. But as usual we can only cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Kitty for adoption

For adoption here. This is Dada. She is really one of the most handsome kitties I have ever seen. I remembered my desire of having at least one persian kitty (a very long long time ago) but now I that I have the amigos, I have no place for another adopted kitty. She looks extremely regal. A cat who knows whats what- unlike Totoro..hahaha

Fluffy adopted

Fluffy (now Muffy) on his first day at school...

Fluffy or now Muffy has been adopted by Moo Moo's mom. Now she has 6 cats that she has adopted from various places. He has a nice garden and 5 siblings to play with although he has taken quite a shine to Moo Moo's mom's brother. I am glad for Muffy as he has a furrever home now :)

His family consists of Moo Moo (who is also Bujang's little bro), then there is his sisfur Blackie (from my void deck), then Mooty (Bujang's little brother who is siamese through and through with white fur and blue eyes) and there are the twin tabbies Mickey and Minnie (from Felicia the groomer). Bujang, Moo Moo and Mooty share the same siamese mom.

Adoption News

Tanaka on his blanket now...

Tanaka on his second day with us in Nov 2007...

When I brought the 2 tabby kittens home, Cousin R said they were rather small at 2 months. Tanaka was much bigger when he was 2 months or so it seemed :) Tanaka has grown up quite a lot and at 8 months, he is much bigger than Megat who is 12 years old! I think he is as big as Ms Akira although he is still in fear of her.

Some weeks ago I had an email from someone wh0o wanted to adopt Tanaka. I was quite surprised as I had informed the site that he alreday adopted by the amigos but I had thought that maybe it would be better if he lived somewhere where he did not have to share living space with 4 other cats! I figured no multi-cat person would ask to adopt another cat! Cat_aunty gave me some good advice about thinking what would be the best for Rocket Tanaka. I think I am terribly selfish but I think Tanaka would be better off with me and the amigos because we love him :)

Tabby Kittens

2 tabby kittens that I rescued last week in Tanaka's cage...

The right one was the one that was slower in many things and therefore more skinny...

I do NOT like them san...I am going to sleep here!

Close-up of Tanaka asleep but still in a position of protest, complete with snarling lips..

F the groomer smsed me last week to say that her boss wanted to send the 2 kittens she rescued to the SPCA and she needed help to re-home them. Obviously I was not the prime candidate for more kittens and so I called Mooty's mommy. She was still looking for a friend for him (thank goodness). She told me to take them in and to bring them to work the next day. So I got them and put them in Tanaka's cage. THAT was a very bad idea. All the boys started to scream and snarl especially Tanaka. I told Tanaka that he used to be like them but he didn't believe me and told me to take them away!
I decided to put his cage in the computer room and when it was time for bed, the three boys started to snarl at each other. Tanaka hissed like the big kitty that he was which was quite impressive. But all went well the next day and when I came back from work, I cleaned the cage and Tanaka sniffed it. It passed the 3 boys' rigorous inspection and they spent the rest of the time peacefully. WHEW!
I am glad to report the 2 tabbies are very friendly to Mooty and they are all on their way to being great friends :)
I hope I have no more kitties to re-home as Mooty's home is now FULL. :)

Watch Out!

Yup san. I am glad I am not purebred...its a dangerous world out there...

I was at the pet store and met M. M is the one who is trying to find a home for the chinchilla persian, now called Percy, that she rescued some time back. She said she has had some enquiries about her cat but she is not going to let the interested party come anywhere close to Percy. She was very suspicious as the person kept asking her if Percy is truly a purebred persian kitty. She said that it is difficult to find a good home for purebred cats as sometimes people adopt not because they want the cat but purely for a status symbol. The person did not ask about anything else and so she became very suspicious. I guess life is difficult for the beautiful as well as the ordinary :(

The Rocket - meditations

I wonder when dinner time will be?

Tanaka will be at the vet this Saturday for his last kitten vaccination. He is very good at the vet's and would actually sit still. His name in the vet's record is still Ginger. The Dr L was very kind and she would make sure that we would get a discount for stuff as he is a rescued kitty looking for a home. So this Saturday I would have to change his name as he is part of our house, to Tanaka. Tanaka is easier for the vet's records than Rocket Tanaka I'm sure :) Now I would not have any more discounts :))

I emailed E about the new development and I was quite relieved that she was not upset. She said she understood how it was :) Cousin R asked grandma about her decision and grandma said she was afraid that some one might treat him badly so he is not to be sent out. I guess this is a real fear of all fosters. I am glad that The Rocket would be able to stay with us.

Adoption - not yet

Never mind...the world is vast. I only hope for someone to love me. No need for A+ food and accomodation although THAT would be nice...

Tanaka's adoption Hope #01 will not go through. I had asked one of my friends who has 2 cats if she would adopt him. She told me once that her children were keen for the family to adopt another cat. However she worried that her senior cat Siren (now about 10) would be upset and the other cat Cho (now 5) would not be pleased. It seemed that Siren was quite upset when the family brought Cho into the house. She tried to find another family to adopt Tanaka but the mother in that family was not willing to do that. So I guess Tanaka will stay with us for a bit.

Cousin R was telling me that there might be another family that might adopt him. It seemed that Family X has an adult male cat who is very fierce and so they felt it would not be good for both the cats. Then it seemed a few weeks ago, a little cat adopted the family. They actually found the cat in front of their doorstep (a victim of abandonement?) and took him in. But he was sick so they sent him to the vet. It seemed that the little kitty was suffering from anaemia. After a week, the vet told them it was okie to bring the little guy home. Their older cat (to their surprise) did not protest! But then disaster struck and they woke up one morning to find the kitty dead and foaming at the mouth!!! They did not take the cat to the vet to see what had happened though. We guessed something else must be wrong with the kitty apart from the anaemia. :(

Cousin R said she would ask the family if they would consider Tanaka. Grandma worries about the foaming at the mouth episode but I do not think its the family's fault as they have a healthy adult cat in their house. We are now waiting for some news.

But I guess if there is none, I would post again at the cws site after all the festivities are over.

Rocket Tanaka in the CWS bulletin board

Hmmm..I wonder what will happen. I think I will miss harassing the amigos but new day..new horizons..new things to do :)

The post for Rocket Tanaka appeared today on the CWS website
He's cropped a little but his bright eyes still stare quite nicely from the page :) thanks to the hardworking people at CWS. Thanks Dell. :)
Today he is going for his 2nd vaccination with Bujang. Bujang is the only amigo with an annual vaccination as he goes down to the park with me, although we have not been to the park for about 6 months. :( The Dec rains make it quite impossible to go to the park these days too. Grandma kept saying that the grass is too wet and Bujang might not want to go out, which is true of course.

Rocket Tanaka posted on cws site

You chose THIS picture?

I posted his adoption details on the cws site this morning with this picture as I could not find the cutesy Pic 2 in my desktop. Thsi pic shows him as he truly is, cute and energetic and so I hope the potential adopters can see what they would be getting (as much as they can from a mere pic) I am rather worried after reading the horror stories about people who adopt cats but I guess I have to make an effort at finding him a home.
The post is to the point.
Rocket Tanaka; 3-month old male ginger. Abandoned on Deepavalli by 3 kids. He is sociable, happy and likes to play. He is affectionate and would give you kisses before he goes to sleep every night. Gets along with other cats. He is dewormed and has had 2 vaccinations to date. He is on both canned and dry food. Foster will sponsor the last vaccination and sterilisation costs. Pls email animesanzo at yahoo dot com.

Which one to choose?

From top left:
Pic 1 - I am full of boundless energy
Pic 2 - I am too cute but I also have nails
From bottom left
Pic 3 - Pensive
Pic 4 - Quite tame ah..can hold still or
alamak kena collar cos so noisy

Pic 5 - Big paws means big cat (so the vet says)

Pic 6 - I can actually keep still and still look cute

Ok. I need to send at least one pic to the vet on the 12th. Dr L said she would put his pic up on account of him being 'sooocuute' and she thinks I may have an adopter. So which one for the 'cuteness' factor without scaring adopters too much?
