Monday in the park

We went out walking in the strollers just now. It was a short walk. San said it’s time we try this out as family.

I was very nervous in the trolley as it’s so open. But when san tried to cover it with the scarf I didn’t like it as I can’t see the outside. It was better like this. We were out for only 30 minutes as it was very humid outside.

Bujang in the park

Bujang told Fern that he wanted to walk more and that he misses walking downstairs. So this morning, after his walk at the usual place, I brought him to the same park that he goes riding in. Then he decided that he wanted to walk.

He walked along the ixora bushes as well. He loves the smell of ixora flowers.

He had quite an adventure and did not want to come home. But I had to carry him back into his carrier as some people were cleaning the dead leaves in the park using a big blower. I knew he would be scared and upset so we went home. He had  more than an hour walking about so he was happy.

uberT is the way to go

The uberT must be one of the brightest things we've ever come up with as it allowed us to actually bring more than 1 cat for rides. This week alone, Bujang, Tanaka, Rez and Popps had been out twice. This was an achievement as almost always it would only have been Bujang who would get out. It would take us at most 2 hours for all 4 to be out, 2 at a time as we try to use different routes so they would see and experience different things. This would be when they go out after 5.30 pm as none of them enjoy harness- walking at this time of the day.

Rez and Popps taking a break and watching the comings an goings at the bus stop.

Walkies on Sunday

Finally I brought Ms Akira downstairs for her very first walk. She has never done this in all her 12 years.  She had specifically made a request through Fern that she thinks this may be an activity that she might enjoy.
She did enjoy it much to my surprise. After the initial meow of fear, she very bravely sat and was interested in everything outside. I had bundled her up as I thought she would appreciate the cover and comfort of the towel. She also had her soft toy.

True to form, she only had one eye out when the going was noisy. But she went back to alert mode when we were at the park.

Popps had no such problem. She looked at everything and everyone. She told Fern that she would like to go outside to see the sights in a carrier and when it was not raining. She is a cat who knows her mind although I am amused that she would make the 'not raining' request. It may be from her commcat days when she used to sit in the rain or when she had to huddle in corners for fear of getting cold and wet.

Walking the parameters!

We went down for a walk yesterday as Bujang has been asking to go out for several days already. He is not fussy about where we walk but he totally adores walking downstairs on the grass. We are having a  dry spell and so the grass is dry and bard to chew. But he tries to find a good blade anyway. He has been exploring the area and has widened his walking spaces.
This is our ixora parameter that separates the residential area from the street. The last time he walked here was a whole year ago.
It was very hot and I was glad he found some shade. I of course did not have any such luck.
Under the shadow of a palm tree
He did not walk along the whole parameter as he was distracted by a little woofie who was also taking an evening walk.
Finally he found a place to rest that allowed me some shade as well. Hurrah!
We were downstairs for an hour almost. I had to hurry him as it was already dinner time and the rest of the kitties would be hungry. The evening sun was as terrible as the afternoon sun these days.

Snooperoonie Sunday

Bujang and I finally made it downstairs this Sunday morning after many weeks. the workers were not about as it was Sunday and the morning was quiet. Bujang was a little anxious but he made it to the grass,

sniffed and ate a few blades...
He stalked to the tree but was distracted by some more grass :)
Then he took a walk about. Our flat is now blue and white. Its a much better colour, cooler and cleaner as well.

Last week, when we were walking upstairs, the neighbour were not spared the  incurable curiosity of the duo since they were the only two brave enough to walk along the corridor. There were many things to see outside of the doors.
Here Bujang lay low as he may be ambushed by hanging laundry.

Every shrub in a pot must be investigated, especially when it has baubles hanging on it.

Tanaka was curious as to what goes on with out little neighbour. The downside of walking here is that the kitties do take a look inside people's homes but I figured if the little neighbour stops by our house to talk to him then they would not mind him looking in on them.

This is just outside out house so he can snoop about without fear.
But I think the walk downstairs was the best of all for Bujang.

Walking outside

Bujang likes going downstairs to walk on the grass and chase pigeons. He always stops short of catching them
He walks up to them nonchalantly...
and he likes to watch them fly off. The pigeons oblige all the time :)
Tanaka does not like walking on grass. Nor does he like wide open spaces. The corridor is his favourite and whenever I show him the purple harness, he would race to the door and wait. Then after he has the harness on, he waits for me to put him outside for his walk :)
Totoro dislikes being outside and the last time that I had tried with him (last month), he tried to get into the house desperately. Although he told Fern (the aniamal communicator) that he would like to walk with me by his side, I think it will take some time yet.
Ultimately san...why don't you just bring me out everyday? I can take it!!

The only kitty who does not know how to use the harness is Megat. Ms Akira has her own colourful harness but she is an indoor cat at heart and does not walk outside at all.

Calm Tuesday on Quiet Wednesday

Bujang went for his evening walk yesterday. He persuaded me that it was not too hot, it was just right for a cat who likes walking :)

He would usually gulp down his food and wait for me at the door but when it is time to go down, he would make a great fuss and has to be persuaded to wear his harness. If I decide that it was too much trouble, then he would come close to me and look pretty sad or come right up close and stare me down.

We met a woman at the void deck who admired his harness and she asked me how she could get her cat to walk with one. We discussed the finer points of leash training :) Maybe one of these days, I would see another cat in a harness going for a walk.

At this point, we would like to wish our friend Barley a Happy Gotcha Day. She has been with cat_aunty for a whole year and is now living the good life.:)

Walking...

Don't kid me san!
Really? Ok let me settle ONE thing first...

a loooooong drink...

lalalalala....

I hope san will be able to keep up with this new arrangement - a walk 5 days for the week and maybe along the corridor one day during the weekend. san says this is because I have been putting on weight as I have done no walking downstairs at all. Although I do play with my bruffers, san thinks I need more time exercising. Hmmm...I am up for that if san is able to keep up with this resolution. We shall see....

Tuesday Fun

Megat: No thanks san. I have had enough of the outside. I think you should bring Bujang! He is right behind me. He spends his days S_L_E_E_P_I_N_G! He is too lazy for words! I am, as you can see, very busy guarding our water bowl. Its an important job you know!

Bujang: ZzzzzzZZZZzzzzz

san: Get up Bujang! Time to go!
So Bujang spent Tuesday evening outside. He inspected everything-the dried palm fronds,

the lazabout birdies...

the drains (you must always inspect the drains for mossies san...)

the drainage cover (oh..I need to see that all drains are covered tightly. I have 6 more to do san!)

WOAHHHHH..they are also good to rub against - warm and smells good!

san: OH NOOO!!! You just had a bath! Get off that you silly kitty!

Bujang: This san is very strict about these things! Doesn't she know I am the BOSS cat and we have important things to do?? Who else is going to take care of the neighbourhood?

Evening walk _Finally

Bujang has been trying to get me to take him out walking but the days have been uncertain and I had been busy with grandma. But finally, this evening we went out as it was cool and breezy...
Bujang walked about quite alot and saw many new things. This is the bin for burnt offerings and so was the source of many good smells..
The soft grass smelled good too and was also good to eat. he ate only a few blades though as he had things to do...
like lying FOREVER beside this broken bicycle and sniffing every inch of it!
He also decided this cover needed close scrutiny but before he decided to roll over it, I had to take him somepleace else. Iwas quite surprised that he went with me docilely with not even a little tantrum and didn't even snap at me or claw at me through the doors of his carrier. He behaved very well today :)
