Run Free Rezki

My cat Rezki suffered from Feline Aortic Thromboembolism (FATE) early on 1st May 22. The vet said he had a heart murmur and his clot blocked the arteries at his hips. As a consequence his legs were disabled and he could not walk. He fell off the kitchen counter and dragged himself to the living room. He passed away soon after I brought him to the vet.
He was a cat full of shenanigans and grand plans of becoming boss. He became boss early this year and worked hard to take care of the others. He was only six years old, an ex-community kitty. He was a firecracker and was afraid of nothing.

Thanks to #1 for her very kind tribute and the nice lady at Meezers' Mews for this beautiful button.

A little note from Rezki, our gangsta boy from Chris, our ac.

He's sorry he left so sudden. He wants to make sure you are safe always. Though he cannot execute his major plan which he nv say what, he is glad to be part of the household. He will be joining the rest to look after the house.

Rez said that he wanted to his urn to be in the bedroom but his message was hijacked by his brother Totoro who said 'they all wanted to be inside, away from the sun but on a nice shelf but must be arranged nicely from first to last' So I decided to shift them all and now they are all together.

From left - Totoro, Megat, Akira, Poppy and Rezki. I am waiting for Rez's black cat to be here from China.

Fly High Popsicle Poppy

Poppy came home today, a little later in the afternoon (27 Dec 2021). The house was quiet. The house has always been quiet but now it was quite empty. Now I have 3 male cats and they seem to disappear into their own separate spaces, without Popps or Akira to bring them together.
Popp's last message to me (via Chris) on 24 December 2021. She had many more that we would share but for now, only this.
"The living is more important than the one that has passed by your life. Focus on them. We will always be around you, watching you."

Poppy had severe anemia and even though  she went through 4 injections of  Aranesp (manmade erythropoietin). Her red blood cells did not increase but rather decreased. Then last Wednesday (22 Dec) she didn't eat and threw up twice. Her vet was full so I brought her to the vet hospital where we found her red blood cell count to be considerably lower and her liver values elevated. She was in respiratory distress early Friday (24 Dec) morning and the cpr did not revive her. She passed in the early hours of that morning.

Friday Thoughts

We want to take a moment to remember our friend Barley. san called her Princess cos she was so like those princesses she used to see on tv but mostly san called her Her Highness. She was a feisty kitty who loved to eat and very much loved by her mama. san can't imagine what her mama must be feeling as it was only a week ago that Her Divaness also went to the bridge. I told mama that now they are together with the Dowager Spenc. 3 girl kitties up in Heaven looking after their mama.

Of course we also remember our bruffers Toro and Megat. And Mera, Kiki, Max and Chitto.

Remembering Totoro

Today Is Toro's 3rd anniversary at the bridge. His jasmine flowers are blooming and we get a soft fragrant smell wafting along the corridors at night and the early evening.
      His Jasmine flowers blooming.
I have also gotten him the Japanese koi to fly in the wind.

Run Free Totoro. We miss you every day.

Rest Well Meep

We are sad to know that a good kitty Meep went to the bridge to be with our bridge brothers last Sunday. He was 18 years old and had played a good last trick on his friend Dell by tricking her into thinking that he had abdominal edema. It turned out that he was only putting on weight!! Rest Well Meep and say hello to our bridge brothers.

Happy New Year Everyone

We give thanks today for many things.
We give thanks for a healthy family and that we can find help for ourselves when we need to. We give thanks for our blogger friends who had purred for us when we were ill and unwell. We are thankful that we have Fern and Laura who can tell san what is going on with us and so san can get us help as well and we know that not many pets have this type of help. We miss our Rainbow brothers but we know that they are happy at the Bridge and they come to see us when they need to.

We are even thankful for that spammer who had posted something in our post of 2007 as san went to see the post and saw this marvelous picture of our Rainbow brother Totoro.
This was taken in 2007 during Hari Raya when Toro had a rest in between guests. If it was not for the spammer, we would not had remembered this picture at all. We take it to mean that our Rainbow brother Toro wanted to wish every one of us a Happy New Year as well.
San feels that we should put a picture of our Rainbow brother Megat as well and one from a very long ago - Bujang and Akira when we were only two cats.
So from everyone here, we wish everybody a good 2014 ahead.

The Amigos on Family and Friends

Today being Christmas, we thought we should post about our bestest Christmas present ever. Our Rainbow Bridge brothers Totoro and Megat spoke to Laura, who just happens to be the bestest animal communicator we know, and told us some things that we needed to know.

This is an older picture of me but san said since I looked so well here, she would put it up again. All the pictures here may be ones that you have seen already but san said it would be ok since it would be the same for our bridge brothers as well. Of course san will post about us and what we think as we are five  cats, three here and two at the bridge.

Today's post is all about family and how family is important to think about and how to make relationships better as well. We hope that when you read our thoughts about family, you would smile kindly on us and wish us well. We hope that today, more than any other, that every one has kind thoughts about their own family and for people and animals who have yet to find a family. Merry Christmas everybody.

We begin with our bridge brother Totoro who went to the bridge 2 years ago but is with us everyday.

I want to tell my mom she did a beautiful job of helping me to heaven and helping me when I was alive. I want her to know that I was comforted by her. I knew that my life was coming to an end because I kept feeling pulled out of my body. Even way before I died I kept feeling this pulling sensation.

There is a granny up here in heaven that needed me. She has beautiful skin and beaded necklaces. She has necklaces that are long. She takes care of me and I help her with her processing. Cause sometimes she has to look at her life and it is scary so I keep her company. I let her pet me all over and I lie on her lap and knead her knees.

I want to tell my family that it is beautiful up here and that there are outsides with big red flowers that drape over beautiful green stems. And there is always gravy for cats. Big bowls of gravy for cats and there are also love blankets and cushions that smell like my family on earth. So whenever I want to be with them I go and lie on the love blankets and cushions.

(We do have red flowers that drape over green stems in our own corridor garden. I had them because I thought it would attract birds for kitty TV. Toro went to the bridge one week after his kidney operation. He had to be resuscitated once the day before he passed.)

Our bridge brother Megat went to the bridge in October this year. He would have been 18 on 13 December.

I didn't think heaven would be anything special cause life at home is really special. It's like this beautiful mystery up here. Sometimes I just want to sleep and I sleep in the feeling and noises of home. I see my family walking around me and I sleep in the beauty of it and then I think of a mouse and go chase it. I can also become a shadow and chase my friends on earth or relax over them so they can feel me vibrating.

Tell my family that their love helped me fly to heaven with the beauty of an upside down raindrop in the sun.

It's true. I had such a great family on earth that I am able to be here and enjoy myself. I have seen Totoro and he tells me to live as free pulsating energy so that is what I do when I come to them.

I want them to know that my life was healthy. It didn't always seem healthy but it was healthy and I want them to know that I love them a great deal. I love them more than anything. I love you family.

(On the day that I had to help him to the bridge I remembered that he once asked Laura what would happen to his body when he went to meet Toro and whether a spirit would enter his body when he was no longer there. Laura then told him that nothing would enter his body and bodies sometimes get sick but the spirit is healthy and free. So on that day I told him that his body was too sick to carry him and he would have to leave it behind. When the doctor comes to help him I wanted him to run fast and fly high. When Dr Ly came to help him I kept whispering that he should run fast and fly high. I guess he heard me)

Tanaka: After I heard about heaven I think family should be pulsating love and cuddle time. It should be where everyone was smart and no one feels smarter than the other one cause everyone has a different mind and they use it differently and every member knows themselves and knows each other. (I am glad he remembered what Bujang told him about the way Akira's mind works and now they should give each other space)

Family should also be a good trip to safety, security and comfort. Yes, I realize Akira is part of my family.

Akira: I feel like family should be proud. Proud of themselves and proud of each other and proud of the connections. I like to feel proud cause it makes me feel healthier.

Family should be quiet and a sense of knowing that you are safe. Family should be good communicators  and a feeling of self worth. I feel good about myself. I hope that for everyone.

Bujang: I feel like family should be education and a place to learn and feel that learning is safe and fun. I feel family should help each other be better. I tell what I know and they tell what they know. We help each other. Family should be like mom. We should be mom. Thanks mom.

(I think he is referring to what Tanaka and Akira had told him about the vet and what Akira had told him about Adrian, her osteopath. I would post about what she said of Adrian later that persuaded Bujang that going to see an osteopath may be a good thing. Bujang was also very wise and had tried to tell Tanaka about the difference between girl cats and boy cats or rather the difference between how Tanaka thinks and Akira thinks)

One last word from Bujang: Can you ask my mom a question for me? When we sing together does she understand that I enjoy it? Well I have to say that sometimes I feel calm and my body is fine and other times I feel like walking and meowing and it comes on fast and leaves fast. When mom is playing the songs for me, it leaves faster.

(I had asked Laura to ask him why he meows loudly at night and why he keeps walking around the bedroom meowing. I didn't tell Laura about the songs that I sing to him to calm him down though. It was a surprise to me that she spoke about them or Bujang spoke about them. I will post a out Bujang and his dislike for people touching him in a later post)

We leave you with a picture of our family. This was taken during leash training and when Megat was still with us. Notice that Bujang had put himself in between Akira and Tanaka. He is very protective of her and would try to be around for comfort.

Once again, we wish everyone a good Christmas with family and with friends.

Remembering Megat

Yesterday was the 15th day of my brother Megat's going to the Bridge. san decided to put his urn next to Toro's. So Cousin R and san did it last night.
Totoro jasmine pot is the one on the left.
san thought the smiling  fat cat angel would make Megat happy. We see them from our window all the time and sometimes the butterflies and small birds would also say hello. san thinks it is better that he is with Nature than kept in a cupboard or in a columbarium although Dr Ly had offered her a space in the prayer room at the hospital. Run Free and Fly High Megat, my brother.

Wednesday Thots

Bujang spent some time sleeping and sitting here. This is where Megat used to sleep at night as he felt safe in here. I have put Megat's soft toy in this cage for the kitties. I think they still smell him and sense his presence. Tanaka and Bujang spend time here on different days of the week. Ms Akira has investigated this space but has yet to sit in it.

On a brighter note
zzzz.....

Meditations of Rainbow Bridge

When a beloved animal companion dies, many believe that they go to heaven or the bridge. I too think it must be this way and heaven is the one and only place for  companion animals and all animal alike. I cannot conceive of any other resting place for them.

I thought it would be interesting to write an entry about Totoro from Fern. Please reserve judgement :))

On the 7th day of his passing Fern has this to say:
Spoke to Totoro just now. He said he is peaceful where he is. Its a huge place and quiet. Asked him about making friends thus he learns new things. He understands but not quite keen. He smiled as he likes the jasmine pot where his ashes are kept. He said he just visited all of you the past few days. He is glad Bujang misses him. He still feels at home there. But each time he doesn't stay long. He just wants to see how everyone is.

Yesterday Fern spoke to him again and today I have this message:
Talked to Toro. He said it is ok there but he just preferred watching others run and play. Told him you missed him a lot and still talked about him and laughed because he is still so loved. He looked shy and smiled a bit and softly scratched his cheek and licked his front leg.

It  is not for me to say what gifts and talents  other people may have :) and even grandma tells me I must be quite crazy. It still makes me smile as it is really very much like Toro to just sit and stare and enjoy the breeze. I have not made up my mind either way but I think the bridge would be exactly like this - a place where he would be comfortable and just do his own thing :))

PS: I didn't pay Fern for this at all. I think she just likes Toro. She knew him for a very short time, hardly a month even.

Finally

His picture and his nature was the same - he was beautiful to look at and wonderful in his goofiness
We got his ashes last Saturday. It came in this small jar decorated quite simply - just like Totoro when he as alive- a simple sweet kitty.

The kitties gathered around as it was some time ago that we were so busy at night. They sat around this space waiting for what was going to happen. We have become a rather quiet household, not because Toro was a noisy kitty. He was quiet and preferred his own company and ours of course. I think we are just trying to figure out our spaces again without him. But Bujang missed him most of all as he has not stopped looking for Toro in all of our rooms specially at night or at dinner.
We buried him here, in this 7 year old jasmine plant. Toro liked the smell that it gives off in the evenings. He would sniff the air whenever the jasmine flowered.
Totoro - 1st Mar 2005- 16 Sept 2012

Toro and I have the same birthday :) We would be celebrating his life for some time yet:)

Run Free BH2..a new note

 A picture of Bh2 from cat_aunty

Today cat_aunty told us that Bh2 had gone to the bridge. He was a good man kitty and deserved a good man-cave there for sure. I know he now has one. Run Free Bh2. san will be back tomorrow and then we will all say our purrayers together.

Note:
We thought a long while about the fate of community cats here and think that sometimes they have a better life than many pet cats. Bh2 was one such loved cat who used to hang out at  coffeeshop in Y. He had many admirers but succumbed to kidney disease as many community cats will as they grow older. He was in cat_aunty's brood and we wish cat-aunty many head butts. Bh2 was buried in a garden which we think was one of the nicest things that could happen as there are not many gardens here in Singapore at all. We also wish to thank all who had given us comfort.
Totoro: *slapping* san for getting the pikshurs wrong in the very hot city of Hanoi! Also san had a typo error and called him BHG. san said she was feeling sad. I fink that is okay but still..hmmm....

Double slaps!!

Goodbye Sweet Max

Sweet Max@cat_aunty made his peaceful way to the bridge last Sunday. He suffered from renal failure last year. We are all glad his last days filled with sunshine walks outside and him scaring the neighbourhood kitties, as a regal kitty should. We know that he was much loved by everyone who knew him well, even the vet and the nurses.

No more sub q and horrible pills eh Max? More sunshine and good times at the bridge where all the kitties would be falling over themselves to greet you.

Sad Sunday

Eventhough our Sunday here is quiet, it is nevertheless a sad one. Grandma is still in rehab hospital and san tells us she would be there for many many naps yet. Our friend Yuu Chan went to rainbow bridge yesterday because of Leukemia and we share the sadness of his family. After all we are all Chans here in this house. It is certainly a day of sadness all round.

Rest In Peace Little Kitty

This kitty used to peer at Bujang and I when we go for our walks

We say a little prayer for the kitty in the picture who used to look at us curiously on our walks. It seemed he was hit by a vehicle. He was an indoor kitty left to his own devices and allowed to run around the estate.

Rest in peace little kitty. I bet the cars would always stop for you where you are now.

Rest Well Awang

Tonight we say goodbye to Awang, Sister S's cat who was 14 years old. He died this morning. He had not been well for a long time and recently had to undergo SubQ as well as force-feeding. He had lived a long robust life and used to be the terror of the neighbourhood. He is now buried in her garden under her lilies. Goodbye Awang and may you run free where you are now.
