All's well that ends well

 

Our commcat Girl2 was in a fight with a 'stranger cat' that had been roaming the area for a few years. No one could catch him as he visits our area at night and is not a regular. We tried to catch her 2 days ago but failed.

 

At about 5ish yesterday, Cousin R and I managed to catch her using a sack. We tried to keep calm even though we nervous. 

 

I had to keep her in the carrier outside the kitchen so Rez can rest. She was quiet. The amigos were also quiet although they know that something was up with the strange cat. But they did not make a fuss and Girl2 became much more calm herself. Both of us waited for about 5 hours for Regine to get her. Regine is part of Petwagon and she is a humane trapper and also helps to take care of  injured cats. Both Rez (when he was a commcat) and Girl2 had gone to Regine before for injuries and recuperation. 

 

Both the boys were helping me to keep her company. Right after Regine came to take Girl2 away, all of us turned in. After a short grooming session...

 

both Tanaka and Bujang fell right to sleep. They had both stayed up after their bedtime and were really tired.  

Jet is a star

This is our newest 'relocated' kitty. He appeared 2 weeks ago and is now at Rezki's old carpark. He has only 3 legs. His left back leg had been amputated. I don't know why he was abandoned here and we could not find his caregiver. 

We named him Jet as it was easier to say than 'the 3-legged cat in the carpark' as he is more than that. He is still uncertain and frightened of us but he knows to come out at the ring of keys and the sound of 'kitykittykitty.'  

We already have a place to board him - at Joanna's where I used to board Rezki before. He already has 2 families willing to adopt him even without seeing him. They only know he has 3 legs and abandoned.

We should be able to catch him some time next week as he seems much more comfortable with us and once that is done, it's to the vet for vax and FIV/Felv tests. We hope and pray that it would be negative as both families have other cats.

Wednesday Whisperz

  

This morning Rezki sat at the gate contemplating what was beyond it. Akira was nervous and decided to stay in the bedroom when he was out. Bujang, on the other hand sat to watch him for a bit before he decided that he was not going to be trouble...

  

Rezki decided on a second breakfast :)

Blackie Update

Blackie went to the vet for his review. I was pleased to know that he is hydration is better and the vet was pleased that he had lost weight. In 2.5 weeks he had gone from 4.9 to 4.75. The vet advised greater loss though.His BUN values are within normal range but his creatinine remained constant at 2.8. His phosphorous is at 4.1 so that is ok. 

The vet said that he should do fine with just once a week SubQ although he prefers that we do it twice a week. I asked this as I would have to release him back to the car park as Poppy is extremely upset that he is with us. She would scream and yell when she sees him and of cos her territory is curtailed as he needs to be in the kitchen. Kidney disease is long-term and can be very expensive as well and so I do not have much hope that anyone will adopt him with it.

He will be in the car park next week after his acupuncture session but we will be able to keep a close eye on his progress, for which I am grateful. We can do the SubQ at a quiet place downstairs and catch him for his acupuncture treatments as well.

A garden in a city

At a housing estate near us, the residents have taken up community gardening of sorts. I assume they would have to invest their own money to have small plots from the Town Council. Here they can plant vegetables or just ornamental plants to sell. The interesting part is there is a ginger cat that goes into all their plots to rest. He seems to be a part of the gardening group.

This is an old estate and apart from this initiative there is still much to be done with regards to public spaces and community issues as well as commcat issues with responsible feeding and sterilization
