Saturday Easy

This morning I went for my morning walk. It was quiet and I was very happy outside just sitting along the corridor. Then I heard some strange sounds upstairs but san said I should not go up as it sounds like a birdie in a cage. I asked san how she would know something like that. san said the sound sounded the same and the loudness is the same as well. san's cousin used to keep song birds so she would know about something like that. san said the people who have the caved birdies might be upset to see a cat on their floor. Anyway we spent about an hour outside, me walking and sitting and san reading her book until its time to go home.

When I got home, I saw something from across our flat. They were pigeons sitting on the parapet of the flats. I wonder how they got so high.

But I know they must have had lessons from their moms like we have from san. Maybe I should ask san for lessons like those birds. By the way, san's clicker book and clicker came in the mail yesterday. So perhaps she would start clicker treat training. We will have to see as san's break ends next week and she has to go back to work on the 2nd of January 2014.

San said she would let me have the whole post today as I have Ben behaving very well indeed for the whole week. I have played nicely with Tanaka. Well I had to discipline him only once and yes, his fur certainly flew all over the bedroom but we made up after that. I had been quiet for 4 nights in a row and did not meow at all at night. I had waited my turn to play with the neko fly and played with Akira as well. I think my talk with Laura has helped me a lot to be more steady.

Ok san. You can show my newly trimmed nails in close-up. I am waiting for them to grow and until then, enjoy them:)

Of grooming and coconut oil

Can't I groom in peace? Its Monday morning and time to iron out the weekend wrinkles san...
 lick...lick...lick...lick...
The good thing is new fur is growing already. I am very pleased with this. Even though she gets out more often in the afternoons, she would groom as much as before although not as severely. Apart from the added attention and monthly Revolution, she also gets 1/2 a teaspoon of coconut oil every morning. I have to put it on her mouth and teeth. She licks it quite readily. Some sites recommend that I put it on her paws but I thought that is not a good thing when I am encouraging her to stop over grooming.
Tanaka also gets 1/2 a teaspoon every morning as he sheds quite a lot and he hates to be groomed. He of course also hates coconut oil. But I noticed that ever since I had given him the oil (about 3 weeks ago), he sheds a little less and the house noticed that his fur is darker as well. Before this I would have handfuls of hair flying when I so much as ruffle his fur but now, less is flying :)
Megat's fur is better as well for as he also takes the coconut oil. I am giving it for constipation. I thought if I gave him the lactulose, it would only be for constipation but coconut oil is also for fur and his overall digestion, which makes it a winner.

Haircut II

Ok..a little shorter please. It would make it easier fur me to groom myself....

I tried calling the groomers today but it seems they had an off day. Probably they were on call someplace else as it is CNY and I guess there are many dogs to be groomed. I thought a shorter har-do would work out the best for all of us. Toro would not have to swallow all that hair, I would not have to pick up tufts of hair (from surprises and mock fights) and grandma would not have his hair in her hair :))

A short trim all around would be best as as a blogger pointed out, grooming a long-haired cat is an expensive business. I don't think trimming or cutting his hair would make the hair grow any quicker though :)

I hope to be able to get an appointment this week or if not next week latest. After the cNY frenzy would be best. Posted by Picasa

Sunday is grooming day

Yes I told san my name is Totoro or fur lazy bloggers (san of cos) it can be shortened to Toro.. Not Tora.
But san said it was a good thing she didn't name me Taro instead..:)

This Sunday I had brushed Toro's and Megat's coats out. I then decided I should kidnap Tanaka and gave him some lightning brushes to get rid of all that loose fur. He sat quite calmly and allowed me to brush him. It was agood thing I was much smarter when he was a kitten and had trained him to sit quietly when held (but only for a few minutes). I contemplated the widsom of brushing Bujang. Of course I went in with eyes open and distracted him with a toy in one hand and in the other I managed to swipe the length of his body with the fine brush. Hurrah!Tanaka and Megat had the nails from their front paws clipped too. It had been quite a busy Sunday.

Maybe I should make Sunday a grooming day as well as a sleepy day:)

A Happy kitty

is a well-brushed kitty....
Toro showing off his well-brushed coat...
He has come to ask to be brushed every evening. But he has to manoever around Megat who also liked being brushed. Sometimes they would take turns and wait in line although Toro has still to stop making us move with him. I have since refused to brush him if he wants to be brushed-on-the-go. Cousin R has yet to be firm with Toro and he bullies her often. :)

Bright-eyed and bushy tailed...

Toro: What? Bright-eyed? I am a CAT, don't forget that...well okay..my tail is bushy but beautiful....

Surprisingly Toro has taken quite a shine to being brushed. He used to squirm and scratch and would use all his tricks to get out of being brushed. These days he comes when I tap the brush and call him "Toro..ro.." I was thinking that if he deigns to be brushed every day then I will allow his fur to grow back. I have not decided yet as when his fur grows out, he tries to bully everyone and he has to groom all that length. Most probbaly I would just bring him to the groomers to shave it all off again. But for now I would let it be.

Day at the groomers

Toro looking at me to see if I noticed him on my laptop!
Me: of cos I see you lah. Tomorrow your fur will be trimmed closer...hmmm

Megat grooming himself after his grooming session at PS. You can never be too beautiful:)

Toro showing me his newly-shaved bod!

The duo, all clean and shaven.

The groomers said, "Your cats are very good. This one (Toro) is more manja than the other one." Thank goodness both of them behaved themselves very well this morning. I decided that Toro will get shaven this morning instead of just trimmed. I am glad the groomers did a good job as he is a very nice cat and deserved to be treated well.

1st time at the groomers...

Tanaka took to F rather well. He did not scream nor shout in the cab that brought him to EW. He behaved very well and was quiet on the way home. I had thought of trying to bathe him myself but I decided to bring him as I was bringing Toro to F. His fur was growing longer and these days the heat must be plaguing him as well.
I think Tanaka got really tired and he slept right after dinner. His fur smells clean and sweet and grandma was very pleased. But I think his love for sleeping on his litter will undo all that. :(

Grooming Saturday

This Saturday morning I was quite happy being me...I do not know why san must bring me to the groomer....I like looking like this..I do...

Saturday evening I looked like this! Is this any way to treat a cat? Huh?

I can't even find a good place to sleep in my favourite tree.

I do not think its funny!

I am really tired of trying to sleep in here...zzzz

Mending well...

Stop it already. Its okie now...

Bujang was quite nonchalant when I took pics of his paw. He just looked at me curiously and did not protest when I touched his paw. I took this as a good sign as he must not be in any pain if he allowed me to even go near his paw. :) I was rather anxious as a reader told me he might have infection due to litter and had since made sure his all the bins have fresh litter everyday as bacteria on a hurt paw is bad news. I had visions of him losing that one digit!

THEN...
His paw 2 days after the 7 day period...

This one freaked me the most...the gaping skin was horrifying to see. However Bujang was more than able to use his foot.

TODAY...

His paw looks cleaner and more pink...

None of the blackened flesh in sight. It is well into pink....
I must thank everyone who gave me advice on what to do with the paw. I have not seen the vet about it as he was not in pain but I know cats can feel a lot of pain and still be quite nonchalant about it. I have not even put any powder but have decided to use the same cleaning lotion that I had put on Cal. Cal's wounds (from car exhaust pipes) recovered in about 1 week and in 2 weeks the skin closed up. So I thought if it worked on Cal, it should work on Bujang and it did. It took 2 days for the blackened flesh to have pale shades of pink and now even his nail is clear. It used to be black before, just like his flesh. Today he actually jumped up to catch Da Bird which convinced me that his paw was on the mend :)
Next time he would go to the vet to get his nails trimmed. Period.

Foot loose ...

Let go of my foot san...The vet said 7 days only...

Top view of his hurt foot...not so bad...

Front view...worse I think...

The vet advised that I put the meds for 7 days. Last Friday was the 7th day and I had not tried to do anything else to his foot since. Today I thought I should check it and from the top, it looked quite ok. However I decided to take some pictures and saw that the wound did not look quite as pink as I thought it should. Maybe I should go back to the vet just to be sure. I haven't made up my mind yet but most probbaly if it does not close up, I will see the vet next week.
On the good side, Bujang is his old self, jumping up on tables and sometimes harassing Toro at night. His appetite is healthy, he eats his share of grass and he walks as well as before. Maybe I am just too anxious.

Bujang on Saturday

Bujang showing us that no matter what happens, he is still as flexible s before...

He is now participating in family life as usual..or rather sleeping as usual..in his favourite places instead of sequestering himself in the room...
This is what his paw looks like today. It is not as bad as it looks as it is now pink and clean. I managed to clean it as well as put the antiseptic powder on it by myself today. Bujang did not protest too much. We had been cleaning it and putting the antiseptic powder on it for 4 days already and he had taken all his antibiotics to date :)

His nail is growing sharper by the day...
