You smell Megat!

Megat looking FAT right after his sub q...
Sniff...why do you smell of papaya Megat...
Never mind...I love you anyway...

I had to give Megat his sub q today as there would be no time to give him tomorrow. His weekly sub q of 250 ml is something Dr L will not take away. He made a small protest and I had to tell him firmly that there is no way he was going to escape it. I also told him that once a week is better than twice a week if he should miss this one.

Then he showed me his one very white canine several times. That is his signal that he was very unhappy. the only other time he ever showed his canine tooth was to the nurse who made a mess of his veins when we went to get him his vincristine. The result from that day was he had 3 bandages on 3 legs. Eventhough Dr FP had typed that he was a good boy that day, it was still something that I would always remember as one of the most stressful days in our vet visits.

Dr L would not be in the week that we have to go for a review so his next appointment would be on the 17th Nov, a few days after his one month reprieve. He is still happy and cheerful and has started to enjoy playing with cat toys. He also has been very brave and had even chased Bujang away several times. So i guess he thinks he is now the BOSS and that makes him happy. Bujang is still taking it in his stride and we have been giving Bujang alot of attention so he would not feel left out or unimportant :)

Thursday Mystery

Who is hiding behind the curtain waiting for playtime?

....

.....

.....

Its me! Bujang!

He loves hiding behind the curtain to play with the cat dancer or just about anything. He loves hide and seek and of course chewing all the toys to bits...

Hide and Seek

Megat: Who dat..?
Tanaka: ..........
Megat and Tanaka were already all set and ready to go on Monday monring before I went to work. Megat stared at Tanaka for all that he was worth, willing him to get out of the mattres to no avail as Tanaka is very good at the "I-don't-know-what-you-are-looking-at" attitude which he uses to very good effect.

Congrats Max

Max up and about...
We are glad to report that our friend Max is doing well on his sub q and eprex. He is looking thin here being only 1.8kg at present but we are confident that the steps although slowly taken, will get Max to where he needs to be.
Fight on max.

Update on Megat

Whenever I see him sleeping so carelessly like this, it takes my breath away as I think about the anxieties and fears in our 5 month journey together. I still keep feeling his side for fear that the lymphoma is back and I sometimes think I feel a hardness one day but not the next day. I know I could be feeling intestines etc and so I try to keep the fear locked up. I do not want to bring him back to the hospital before his month is up (13 nov) as I do not want him to feel stress as he is happy and feeling well. He has told every one in the house that he is the BOSS and that he feels better. He is drinking water everyday, eating his supplements and yells loudly at meal times.
I will not be going to our blog Journey Into Life until 13 nov where I will post an entry about his update. I hope to write about Megat here mostly :)

Easy Peasy Sunday

Get off the computer san. I need some brushing...
Megat having a nice nap...unitl supplements time...

Kitty at rest...

Megat is slowly but surely taking over the house. He has made a run at Bujang several times and now walks infront of Bujang to dinner - actually way infront of everyone else. He has taken to sleeping on Bujang's favourite mattress all day and every day. After dinner today, he decided he wanted to take part in playing with Da Bird and very enthusiastically jumped at it. Tanaka has learnt to take turns and would wait for his turn quietly...except when it gets too much for him and then he doesn't care and would trample on anyone in his way :)

Cat in the box

Toro: I wonder if I can send him away by post...Speedpost...
Tanaka asking me if he can have the box...

I think not Tanaka. Grandma doesn't like cardboard pieces in the house. You can play in it for abit though :)

A VERY close shave for Fatboy!

Oohh..this is so scary...
A very fat Fatboy relaxing after his release...
3 cans of salmon and tuna at 4.30 pm after my scare...

Faboy was very thirsty and drank quite abit of water...

Fatboy: I do not want to go to the SPCA

san: There is NO WAY you are going there fatboy. I just wish you are not so friendly with everyone!!

Fatboy looking behind before going forward...

It was a close shave for Fatboy this aftrenoon from being sent to the SPCA! I think the telephone tag is proving to be very dangerous for him. Someone brought him home last night and called grandma this morning to ask if she had lost her cat. Of course the amigos were all inside and safe and she said that she had lost lost any.

The person smsed me this afternoon to ask me about the tabby (Fatboy) and I told him that he is a community cat and I am his caregiver. The person then asked me if I wanted to adopt Fatboy (!!!) as he already had one cat. I told him that I had 5 cats and cannot take another one. The person actually said in that case he would have to put him back or send him to the SPCA! What the #$^*^!!

So after calling him twice (and giving him frantic smses), I finally got him and told him to put my cat back and not to send him to the SPCA where he will get killed. He (he sounded very young) laughed and said he would return Fatboy to the void deck. I told him that it was no laughing matter and getting killed is not funny and that I wanted him to return my cat immediately and not to take any more cats from downstairs. He told me he would do so immediately.

I then raced downstairs and shook my keys. It was a great relief that I saw Fatboy running towards me and because I was so relieved he got 3 cans of salmon and tuna. The boy was nowhere to be seen.

So from now, he would get no tag. I think the boy meant well and thought he was genuinely a lost cat and wanted to keep him safe. So tomorrow even Minah and Putih would get no tag. I think we will just keep the collar to tell people that someone is actually looking after the two.

I thank the Great Cat in the sky for his safety and close shave.

We are glad for Max

Max has gone to the vet and he is now resting comfortably at home. We are glad that he is eating although not so glad that has to get the sub q and the eprex weekly as it would be rather stressful . But we are very confident that his mommy will be able to help him get over his stress very well :).

The View

I like the view from inside here san...

especially when its high up :)

We lurve our comfurrter...

zzz
zzz
hmmmm...

This particular comforter is a great favourite with the amigos boys, except Toro. Even though experts tell us that cats are colour-blind, the boys tell me otherwise. I have several comforter of this type, in different colours but they only like this particular one and use it continuously throughout the day. Bujang is now quite willing to share it as long as he gets to use it whenever he wants.

Thursday Thoughts

Megat resting after dinner...
zzz...

We were all very surprised to see Megat sleeping on the comforter so near all of us after dinner. He usually has to take his meds at about 8 and he would be long gone from sight well before that on other days. He was very relaxed and didn't run even when we brought him his meds and waited quietly for Cousin R to get him, yawning a little, as though extremely unconcerned about what was going to happen.

He took his meds like a good kitty and didn't even react even though we had put 1/2 of the cranberry powder with his usual supplements :) He is either gettign used to the routine after 5 months or he is plotting a scheme :)

Cat Towers

http://en.catsweet.com/

This is from Shanghai and would cost me S$305.00 with a S$52.00 shipping fee from Shanghai seaport to Singapore customs and then I would have to pay custom taxes, transportation etc. Its nice but maybe not something I would actually buy. It seems they have shipped one to Singapore last week :)

Yup ...I actually desire these towers:) The amigos have not seen them and of course they have yet to figure out how to shop online and I keep the credit cards under wraps :) I think the second set can be made rather easily...by my carpenter friend, not me lah. The kitties can even climb up the ladder.

Say a purrayer for our friend Max

We are purraying very hard for our friend Max who is not well and has to have sub qs, like our own kitty Megat. Now that Max is with people whom he loves, we are sure that he would thrive under their constant TLC and our good thoughts. FIGHT ON Max!

Easy Peasy Sunday

There is nothing like a peaceful Sunday when all there is to do is nap...:)

Tanaka on sunday

Tanaka has grown quite dignified and has lost his totally pink nose. Its now dotted with black.
But he has lost none of his kaypohness and would always be the first to help with anything in the house :)

Sunday

can you please show yourself?

Ice please...

Bujang staring at ice in his water bowl...
Hmm..what is that floating in my water..is it dangerous...
Lets look at it closely...
Ice in the water is a great favorite in our house especially when the day is hot...

But actually ice in the water at any time at all is welcome. Megat likes it in his water and so does Bujang. All the boys except Toro like drinking water from this bowl. Its easier than the Dora cup.

Goodnight Wednesday

Megat right after his after-supplement brushing...

He looks his size. He is thin but not as thin as before. He has put on some weight but I am trying to get him to put on more weight...just in case as he loses weight pretty fast when he gets sick. He loves wet food and would eat it all day but he is supposed to eat his renal formula, which is dry. So I give him 40 g of renal formula at night and by morning, he would have finished all of it. That does help him to gain weight.

He does not look as thin here though. I have taken to brushing him after his supplements. This allows me to hold him a little longer without him squirming to get out. As I have to make sure his suppository does not pop out, its the best I can do. He relaxes and I can try to make sure that most of his suppository is absorbed before he gets released. But it does not always go according to plan as some traces of his sang hwang or cartilage would seep out.

Finally some better pics of Ms Akira out of hiding...
