Ms Akira's Gotcha Day

Today Ms Akira is 7 years old. Hurray!!
I don't feel 7 san. Are you sure? What are we going to do today?
Ms Akira spent a good deal of the time with The Butterflier. She is very good at it!
It was a good Gotcha day except when I had to eat the pill! YUCK!!

We tried to pill her but failed miserably. I ended up with a shredded shirt and a very angry kitty! Then I remembered Ginger Jasper's advice about giving her the crushed pill in some water. So I added a good measure of honeyed water to the crushed pill and put it all in a syringe. It was surprisingly easy from then on. Ms Akira has already forgiven me and is sitting on my lap as usual. Maybe tomorrow I would give her the pill in some Appelin as she has not been eating well these few days. The Appelin is sweet and so would disguise the taste of the clomicalm and she would eat more of her food to boot. It is true though that the clomicalm is rather bitter. I tried some of it and just like Ms Akira I must agree- YUCK!

Easy Peasy Sunday

Ms akira watching the world on sunday morning...
Ms Akira: This is so much better...

PS I have not yet managed to give her the clomicalm. I tied disguiding it with gravy from her canned food but she just sniffed at it and moved away. She doesn't like butter. I tried to get her to lick the butter from my fingers or from the spoon. She was totally not interested. Later on I will just have to brave it and pill her with the pill popper. Tomorrow I will ask Cousin R to help me with it.

I had tried the Bach Rescue but it didn't work so well with the over-grooming, also the Pet Calm from petsalive . Yesterday when we came home from the vet's she was quite calm and she had a nap. I don't know if this was the effect of the clomicalm though or maybe she was just exhausted from the trip. The vet said I could bring her to the clinic everyday and they would pill her but that would be very stressful on everyone. But as a last resort, we may have to do that.

I am rather pretty no?

Yes I fink my hair has grown some...but not too much...

He fur is looking much better these days and it has grown a little as he doesn't overgroom himself as much...

Close-up of his right and left hind legs...

Its thinner here than the rest of his body of course but at least the hair is growing slowly...

Megat's hair is growing slowly and he is no longer the bald cat that he was before. Now there are no obviously bald patches. The hair is thinner aorund the previously bald areas but at least there is hair and he has not pulled at his hair anymore or at least he does it less. He still grooms himself meticulously but not obsessively. I had tried some oil before but had stopped for some time. So whatever had stressed him before has now either disppeared or he has managed it somehow. I personally feet that it was Ms Akira's frequent attempts on his life but as she has decided to become the recluse, he now no longer feels threatened by her. Of course it be none of that :))

Stop that Totoro!

In easy times...
Toro dreaming up of his next bout of shenanigans...

It finally happened.
My cat Totoro has finally flipped out.
He actually pulled out the hair on his tail.....and
ate it...
TWICE!
I had to stop him...
"STOP THAT TORO!" I yelled and jumped up from dinner to stop him.
Toro was quite shocked and started to walk away quickly.
I gave him some bonito flakes and he stopped long enough for me to look at his tail.
"Stop it Toro. What happened?"
"He looks stressed," my cousin said and indeed he did.
After two pieces of bonito flakes, he relaxed and sat as usual with his arms folded.
Grandma then cuddled him and she crooned, "Darling...."
After some thinking I thought he might be feeling stressed when he saw Bujang chasing after Megat. He hid under the chair, quietly watching them. It could be envy or just plain fright.
After 10 minutes, he sat and visibly relaxed and is now napping.
He gave me such a fright.
My poor kitty Totoro had a big fright today.
I think...
