Of cat trees and such...

In the grand scheme of all things cat, I think I should be grateful that at least 2 1/2 cats are using this tree that I had commissioned specially for all 5. Rez sat here only twice! This was because their old tree was already about a decade old and unstable although the hanging basket was a great favourite. It was never empty for long. But as I was not able to get one in Singapore, I had commissioned The Cat People, to do this one for us. Of cos Bujang has not gone up and neither has Akira. Poppy sits here everyday at night looking at the twinkling lights from across the room and Tanaka sits here sometimes - but for a short while.
This was the colourful hanging basket that Bujang simple loved and he would chase everyone, except Akira, out of it if he decided he wanted to sit in it.

Wednesday Wiles

TTanaka: Its my man-tent san. You know like what the men do when they get together. I need some drums and a pipe now and maybe a drink...
san: a drink?
Tanaka: offur couse. Offur water!
Tanaka is the only one who managed to get inside and turn around easily. Megat has yet to try and Toro does not like these spaces.

Our New Cat Tree

What's this? What's this?
What's this?

The boys sniffed at the new cat tree suspiciously but didn't try to scratch it. I bought this new one as our old one is ratty and unstable. Also I thought one of them (Tanaka) might be adventurous enough to use the rather nifty seats to sleep on but as yet no one had tried them.

So I put a treat on each seat just to encourage them to be curious but they just tried to get the treats without getting onto the seats :). Oh well...it will happen some time...

At least Ms Akira was unafraid to use the new scratching post :)

I am a very clever kitty no?

Close up of the T2 duo on sleepy sunday 28 September...

Toro trying to see if the butterfly was ALIVE!

A pretty nice collage of my cat Totoro even if I say so myself...

A very confident Toro leapt from the cat tree, onto the window ledge and then onto my bookcase. This is the 2nd time he had done this and I was glad to see that he was pretty confident and could get down by himself. I had to save him the first time.
These pictures were taken on Sleepy Sunday 28th Spetember. I had cleaned the house for HRP and vacuumed, mopped, swept the house. I even changed the curtains. The boys decided to see what was outside the window now that there were no curtains. Toro was very happy as I had opened the windows to clean them and so there was a very good breeze. He sat and lay on the seat to enjoy it when he saw the bookcase. He looked at it for a bit and made a plan.
He made his way gingerly over the ledge and jumped onto the case. Then he examined the butterfly thoroughly before deciding that it was not very interesting as it didn't do anything. :)

Finally Bujang!

The new cat seat is pretty spacious even for Bujang...

Bujang's debut at the cat seat...hurrah!

Once he tried it, there is no stopping him...

Bujang: Okay, enough already...

It took Bujang a longer time to actually sit on the new cat seat. I originally had this built for him as the old seat was pretty small for him these days. He had tried standing on it before but as my floor was not even, the cat tree was not the most stable thing and Bujang is really one of the most careful cats in the house. But I was glad to see him sit there last Saturday and he rested for some time too. After that first step, now Bujang sits in the seat to watch the outside as it affords him much more space.

Good morning Saturday

Toro is now quite happy sitting in the new cat tree. Here he was looking at Friday night...

On Saturday morning, all 3 were out looking at birds outside. I am very pleased to see all of them in a row..

Toro decided that he was too far away and got nearer to the rest of the boys. It is also good that he is now not afraid to be close. He has grown much in confidence :)

Our new cat tree...

Tanaka looking at Saturday from the new cat tree...

The cat activity centre...

New arrangement....

My colleague who is an excellent carpenter made the amigos a new cat tree. I was very pleased as he had made the seat 25" and so even Bujang can sleep in it comfortably. But the amigos, being their perverse selves have yet to sleep in it, except for Toro who actually slept in it once, a few weeks ago but has not done so since.
I investigated and found that my floor was uneven and so the tree wobbles just a tiny bit. I have made new arrangements for the cat activity centre and can only hope that they are pleased. As usual they will take months before deciding. But I found out after careful scrutiny that if I had asked him to make it 5 inches shorter, none of them would have to jump onto the new tree and Toro could literally walk over to it. I will have to ask him nicely if this can be done.
