Easy Peasy Sunday

It's not so Easy Peasy today as the day opened with rain and now more rain. It's dark and gloomy like a day in December. It's very quiet out. So we thought its good just to have some warm pictures of Ms Akira :)

Ms Akira returned from her osteopath Dr Lalani in good cheer and stuck out her tongue at bone ache and muscle pains. She didn't have to go for any more appointments this year and needs only to be adjusted quarterly. So her next appointment will be in February 2014.  YAY!!

She rested intermittently near me, on the couch. She had done this only once or twice before when Megat was with us but yesterday she rested for some time with us. I guess she is getting used to the idea that she would be safe from being chased. ( Tanaka was in the room)

Of cos she was also vigilant and would peer over the pillow to see who was about.

She was much more relaxed. Dr Lalani says that her cranium feels fine and her energy is up. He had drained a gland yesterday and he felt she should be well on her way of becoming her real self.

She rested here and had a nap. Of course her grooming issues have not stopped but considerably lessened. The bald patches now have some hair but she continues to worry them so after many months, it's still some hair. The underside if her limbs are rather bald and of course her tummy as well. But they do not have angry welts nor do they have scabs. Possibly this is the best we can hope for and as long as there are no cuts and bruises, this may be the best that she can do.
She is also rounder and her fur is better and softer as well. So all in all Ms Akira us doing very well indeed and the idea of that cheers me up considerably in this very dark Sunday.

Of course Ms Akira is always under the watchful eye if her little brother Tanaka. We have yet to be able to persuade him to relax the vigilance.

Oh Tanaka!

Tanaka went to see Dr Lalani yesterday as he had an issue with his hind leg. He had landed badly a month ago but I thought since he was not limping, his leg was better. Not so...

Dr Lalani encouraged him to walk (using his leash which I brought) and did not see a limp but when he felt his muscles there was a ropiness in his left leg thigh which meant a great deal of tension. He also had a tightness in his middle rib cage. He might have hit against the edge of the cupboard when he tried to jump on it or when he was playing with Bujang and tried to escape by jumping to the top of the night cages which he does often.

So Dr Lalani had massaged his left leg and his rib cage to lessen the tension. I think this would explain why Tanaka was not jumping in the usual way with his toys.  He would usually do many twists and high jumps to catch the lure.

I was advised to massage his leg as well at home and bring him back in two weeks.

I am glad I brought him to see Dr Lalani anyway eventhough his leg seemed to have healed as if not I would not know about his mid riff at all.

This morning he was a little unsteady when he wanted to jump off my headboard onto the next cupboard. Usually he could just sail to the top.

Megat on Friday

Dr L treated Megat yesterday. As usual Megat was quiet as Dr L performed acupressure. Megat left kidney was marginally better than 2 weeks ago but still it was encouraging.

He advised that I give Megat some home-made beef or chicken broth if I have to force- feed him in the mornings instead of the pumpkin-potato-beef mixture of commercial baby food. Less dry food was the recommendation as well as his kidneys need to improve. Dr L felt that a compromised kidney might contribute to his problems in his intestines.

We are making the beef broth for him today. I was supposed to make a broth out of beef and bones and feed it to him in the morning, with no vegetables. I also found a few cans of no-grain Call Of The Wild, and had sieved that to feed him this morning. He liked it quite a bit as he did not spit it out at me. I had added a little gravy from Whiskers beef and chicken.

He eats by himself in the evening and he also has about 15 to 20 gm of kibble for a snack. For this I say thanks everyday :)

Later today he is going for ultra sound and of course his vincristine injection.

Keep the Faith Megat!!

Akira at the osteopath

This morning we nearly missed our appt with Dr Lalani as we got trapped in a jam at the ECP. Dr L advised us make another appt as he did not wish to cut short Akira's session but we made it by a whisker.

I told Dr L that she may have some trouble with her back legs. Dr L felt them and enquired if she seemed clumsy. He touched her ears as well and asked me when I had cleaned her ears last. I had never cleaned her ears! He advised that I clean her ears gently as there was some inflammation in her left ear and her right ear also needed cleaning. He also cleared up her sinus.

In more good news Dr L said she is coming into her own once again and he can see that she is becoming a more assertive kitty. Akira of cos was very quiet with the doctor which was good. She had complained the whole one hour to The Biopolis! Her next appt is on 27 April as he wanted to see if she was less clumsy and her ears are free of the inflammation. He said the ear inflammation could also cause her to lose balance as well. She was quiet and restful after the session and Dr L said she should be sleeping for a few hours :)

Anyway Dr L said I should try to clean her ears gently myself so she would not get stressed at the vet. He also recommended some fish oil on her diet. Oh-oh!

Akira at home became quite relaxed.

Tanaka of cos was ever vigilant.

Off with the steroids!

Dr Ly saw Ms Akira this evening for her over-grooming issues. He gave her the once over and scrutinized her limbs and tummy. "No inflammation anymore. No lesions on her gums. Fur is growing well but there are still some bald patches. Cat looks happier. No need for anymore medication. She is going to do better without the Ovarid now. Recovered."

Dr Ly asked about her sessions with the osteopath and was pleased that it took only 3 sessions for her spine to be re-aligned. He said she does not need anymore meds and we should continue with the Bach as well as music. The Ovarid was just to re-wire her brain and now she is perfectly ok to go on this journey by herself.

We are all so pleased for her !
