Our last post of 2022

We hope for a more quiet life next year with blessings for all. This has not been a good year for us but we thank everyone who had visited us this year and gave us a lot of comfort. May all of you have a very good year ahead.

 Sometimes I have to remind san that I need some attention. But I promised her I would not sit on her lap for many hours- just a few hours. 

Grow Lights are also for cats

 San uses this grow light in the morning for her plants but tonight she used it to read her book. It was warm and so I was very glad to be able to share the warmth as well.

December Days

 December days are always gloomy and it rains all the time. This morning we woke up at 7 but it was dark. After breakfast san switched on the grow lights for her plants. I decided to sit here with duckie to share the warmth from the lights. San said the grow lights will allow the plants to grow better without much sun. I wonder if I will grow bigger faster as well. Hmmm…

Birdie Wednesday

 

I was sitting with san for a bit…a bit this morning but she was too boring. I heard a birdie outside and tried to ask it to play. 

Just Because it’s Friday

 

Where is duckie san?

She had to go to the groomers today as her fur was too long and she had a few matts that I had to cut. It’s too hot here to have such long fur even in December. I sent her yellow duckie with her so she won’t feel stressed but the groomer forgot to put it back. She loves the duckie and plays with it all day. Thank goodness the groomer will bring it back tomorrow. 

Sunday Quiet

San opened the windows to let in some cool air into the house. It drizzled this morning. The quiet house and the drizzle made me sleepy. I already played with tiger and duck and needed a good nap. 

Goodnight Bujang

We have been turning in later and later this week. San had someone come in to redo the laminate on our kitchen cabinet and he was here for the 5 days, including today. But at last he finished the work and we are by ourselves again. I look forward to a quieter day tomorrow. 

Grass

 I grew this grass from a grass-kit as I could not get any viable wheatgrass seeds myself. It took about 5 days for the grass to be this height. Tanaka likes eating grass in this way as he has a hard time trying to adjust his whiskers for cut grass. Bujang prefers cut grass. Skywalker is curious about grass. She may not have been given any   previously. She likes the smell but she is confused as to why Tanaka enjoys eating it. So she scrutinizes him every time he eats grass. 

Just Thursday

I was so sleepy this afternoon when I was sitting near the window. I saw many birds but I could not hunt them as there was mesh. San said for me to let the birds alone as they were outside of our house and we had no business stopping them from flying. 
 

Bestest Helper

Actually sitting on my warm computer. She is the first cat who would actually do this. I thought those pics on the internet were just made up ones.

Sky on Sunday

Today we had a kitchen cabinet contractor who came to measure our kitchen cabinets. After 20 years I thought it was time to redo them all or at least change the laminate. As usual Sky was very excited when we have guests. She followed him about. He was very taken with her beauty and wanted to get a picture of her.  He called her ‘Manja’ which is Malay for ‘affection’ or I guess Princess. There is no English equivalent for the word. 

Penance

 Is there a sadder pose for a little kitty?

Sky pranked Bujang last night and it turned out poorly. Bujang had a shock, ran out of his room, jumped onto the couch and immediately fell on his side to land in the open space between the couch and the table. He is not fully recovered from his IVD and still walks unsteadily and still tilted to one side so he fell on that side.

I was not able to help him as he would have turned my arms into ribbons (I have a lot of experience with Bujang’s panic). I waited for him to right himself (it was full of anxiety for both of us). But once he righted himself (he fell onto the floor and then managed to turn himself the right way round), I scolded Sky for doing such a thing. Bujang was quiet and watched.

Sky was quiet and when I told her to go into her room, she meekly went in and sat on her bed. No meowing at the gate and no pounding at it. She knew she was in trouble.

Then the whole house turned in as it was bedtime. This morning she acted cute with me but I told her it would not be so easy. But I did pet her a little as I was leaving so she would feel a little better as Bujang was not hurt in the prank. But I will only know later when he sees his osteopath.

Monday Mesh Up

What’s this san? Why can’t I see the outside clearly?

Hmmm the other window seems clear of the plasticky things. 

Ok. I can see outside and feel the breeze. That’s something at least. 

 I decided to put the mesh against this window as well eventhough we have cat safety grills. She had pounded on the mesh at the window next to her cat gym when she saw birds flying past yesterday. I thought she might pound on this window as well and if there was no mesh she would get hurt. We live on the 9th floor and the danger is real. 

Easy Peasy Sunday

A nap is the only way to go when Sundays are quiet and there is a cool breeze from the window. 

Bujang

I am now feeling better as I am home from the vet. San brought me for my weekly subq. I told the vet techs loudly to leave me alone but they were very stubborn. But I have had my second breakfast and had forgiven san for bringing me there. The vet tech asked san how old I was and they were surprised to know that I just had a birthday and so am 19. 

Ok let me tell you again

I helped san last night with preparing the bed for sleeping. I told her that a cat likes to sleep with many blankets and the 2 (not 1) must be in the right positions. San took this pikshur of me so she won’t forget. She is a good student. 

Err...excuse me...

 I look a little unkempt. san didn't tell me she was going to take my pikshur. I thought she was just going to tell me to get down and get some sleep. i am now more able to understand the house rules and I try to follow them...a little bit...a little bit.

Birdie Lullaby

This morning she was very excited when she came out of her room. She raced to the bedroom and jumped up onto the cat seat for a birdie lullaby. 

TAKE THAT!!

We told her she should find her own entertainment and not wait for Tanaka to play with her as that would take a very long time to happen. She took our advice to heart. 

Easy Peasy Sunday

 My Sunday began well but I had to go to the vet for my monthly pentosan injections. I have a new vet at my old vet practice. He was concerned about my weight. I have been losing weight ever since my IVD. But this morning he was pleased as my weight was a little better. But he told san she should get a weighing machine and weigh me weekly. He seemed worried about my long term kidney issues. I am not worried as ‘I am well.’ (He told Chris that repeatedly and also he didn’t want to eat any more meds )

Just Because

 San said I look more like Obi Wan than Skywalker. But I don’t mind.  I am definitely much prettier than he was. 

Finally Friday

Here I am lying with san. She has to be at work a little later so we can spend some time together. I got a lion cut and so am feeling much better and less hot. But san told me that the next cut would not be so short as it would be good to also look as cute as I feel if my fur was longer on top. I am also feeling easier in my heart as I am home with my two brothers - the tux is easier for me to understand but the orange one still confuses me.

I think because she spent almost all her life in a little cage she is obsessed about what’s going on outside.

Final Friday Thoughts with Sky

Sorry san. I forgot it was sleep time and chased Tanaka. I was just  only looking for a place to sleep when I saw him on his bed. Can I try again? 

Shenanigans...NOPE!

Tanaka was trying to comfort Sky who was inside the room 2 days ago. I had to close the door as she could jump over the black gate and as she would be unsupervised, I could not take the chance.

Sky last night. She decided to sleep on the bed for a bit. Later she decided to sleep under the cupboard as Bujang had hissed at her twice and showed her his paw once. He is a stickler for personal space. After that, all of us got a good night's sleep, even her.

This morning, she was happily grooming herself on the bed and in the a/c. 

san decided to allow me to sleep with everyone. It sometimes rains and thunders at night and I am afraid of both. I told her for two days about it and she had made some re-arrangements for all of us. So last night I slept with my brothers and san. It was a little crowded but I was not afraid to sleep. Bujang told me to be quiet and rest so I did as told. I think san would allow me to sleep in the bedroom from now. Yippee!

 Surprisingly Bujang and Sky took to each other very easily. He hissed at her once or twice and these days they always take time to sit together. 

Tanaka Tuesday

Its been a long time since I am here at all. I am having a hard time with Sky. I had never seen such a cat before. She kept looking at me and she chased me as well. She is a strange creature. Today san had to close the door so she doesn't jump over the black gate. 

 

Rainbow Bridge Service

 The yellow urn is for Sky's 4 stillborn kittens. I thought close enough to Totoro's urn and much more light.

Last night we finally did the rainbow bridge service for Skywalker's 4 stillborn kittens and also for my kitty Ms Akira. It was a long time coming for both. We closed our eyes and thought only of good memories when we sent them off. The kittens, according to Chris did not know they had died and chased and played with each other and Ms Akira. Ms Akira was irate at having kittens following her about but we said it could not be helped as we did the service for both of them at the same time. I asked Chris if Sky remembered her kittens but Chris said she was very busy with learning and her new life and being happy. We will only tell her if she asks about them. It seemed to be the best in the circumstances.

Finally Friday

 

Although it is already October, the days are still hot and the nights humid. I am afraid she will get too hot with all that fur. I will have to see about a grooming schedule for her with a groomer whom she likes. Also I will need to get another pillow as I had given away the rest of Popps pillows to a cat shelter.

She is much more confident these days and had yelled at Tanaka once or twice. It surprised me as she likes Tanaka and watches him obsessively. Nevertheless, the both of them had come to some kind of agreement and I see more of Tanaka out in the living room these days with the rest of us. It has been about 14 days since she arrived at the house.

She has lost her signature sad look. These days she looks like a cat with a plan. I am glad it did not take such a long time for her to get here. 

Tuesday with my family

 As was having breakfast but I decided she needed company. Today is the last day she is on sick leave so I wanted to be with her. What was good was my 2 brothers also decided  to be outside and so we were all together. Tanaka saw me but he walked anyway so san was very impressed with his courage. I on the other hand was glad as I like him and perhaps one day he would play with me. 

Monday in the park

We went out walking in the strollers just now. It was a short walk. San said it’s time we try this out as family. 

I was very nervous in the trolley as it’s so open. But when san tried to cover it with the scarf I didn’t like it as I can’t see the outside. It was better like this. We were out for only 30 minutes as it was very humid outside. 

Easy Peasy Sunday

This is the scene that Sky sees from her lookout. She really enjoys it. 

Her favourite tower seat

Sky seems to like sitting here and she can sit here the whole day. She also seems to have lost her sad face. When she first came she seemed to have so much sadness. Of course part of that sadness was losing her 4 kittens. They were still born. Chris, our a/c said she asked him why they didn’t move. So we are doing a service for them this weekend as well. Their names are Princess, Leia, Han and Solo. Her name is Skywalker. They were rescued and named the Star Wars Rescue as there were about 35 of them and the rescuer needed names for everyone. 

 

Sky on Saturday

She decided to get up here. It is actually Tanaka’s favourite lookout place. She has seen Tanaka in here many times and I guess she was curious. I am glad Tanaka did not throw up in fear. Several days ago , he was so stressed when he heard her pounding on her black gate that he could not even go to the bin and so did his business on the bed. Chris and I explained that such behaviour was and is unacceptable and we encouraged him to try a little harder. 
 

Finally Friday with Skywalker

Today is a good day. It is close to the weekend and I know that things will be much more lively. I know this as I came to this home last Friday 23 at about dark time. When I came out of the carrier I ran round and round and rolled about the floor. It surprised me that I was the only one in the big room with the 2 humans. Even today, there are only 2 other catses in MY house. At the other house, there were many many many of us. I don't know how many. The cats here is dark and bright. I think the bright one is confused and the dark one is calm. But it seems they have given me this big scratcher and I am always here. I like the top one most of all as I can see everyone and no one can catch me. WOOHOO!

Just Because Sky

Yesterday Sky slept through the brainmelting sounds of drilling. Our neighbour on the 6th floor, is doing renovations to his house. The noise permeated through all that concrete and reverberated in our heads. But the sleeping Sky reminded me of what is important- a good nap.

2 boys and a girl

Bujang took Sky in his stride after several shocks. He is used to seeing strange cats in the house who sometimes stay until they depart to the bridge. So he was not too scared but only irritated as she once or twice jumped up the table to look at him. This morning, however, he decided he would rather wait for me to have some tea before going into the living room. He immediately asked to sit and so we did that for a bit. 

It was a nice surprise to see Tanaka outside as he has been on self-quarantine from last Saturday because of Sky-the-scary-cat. I had to get an animal communicator to try to encourage him to go out and to be together. This morning he managed to get out to the kitchen to have breakfast and to eat some kibble. He was in and out about 4 times eating kibble. I thought he may be eating to last him the whole day! But he threw up a bit as it was too much for his system to handle. I told him to relax a bit as Sky is in her room.  

Welcome home Skywalker

 When my cat Tanaka told Chris that he was scared when Bujang 'disappears', I felt sad for him. He doesn't remember that the other cats went to the bridge because of illness. He said he was scared to be left alone and Bujang doesn't actually like him at all. Bujang thinks that Tanaka is not a cat but a pet. I don't know how cats recognize each other but needless to say I felt that I should make an effort.

Sky is from a hoarder situation of 35 cats in a tiny hdb flat, sitting in faeces and she had never seen the outside of a crate. She was overjoyed at the space she now has and kept looking at the sky and light. One of these days I will put up the conversation.

A mere 3 year old kitty, she had 4 stillborn kittens as she herself was very thin and malnourished. SHe has already 'commandeered' the house and plans to live her best life. I am  glad she is with us although sometimes I see the boys looking at me with ...

Run Free Rezki

My cat Rezki suffered from Feline Aortic Thromboembolism (FATE) early on 1st May 22. The vet said he had a heart murmur and his clot blocked the arteries at his hips. As a consequence his legs were disabled and he could not walk. He fell off the kitchen counter and dragged himself to the living room. He passed away soon after I brought him to the vet. 

He was a cat full of shenanigans and grand plans of becoming boss. He became boss early this year and worked hard to take care of the others. He was only six years old, an ex-community kitty. He was a firecracker and was afraid of nothing.

A little note from Rezki, our gangsta boy from Chris, our ac.

He's sorry he left so sudden. He wants to make sure you are safe always. Though he cannot execute his major plan which he nv say what, he is glad to be part of the household. He will be joining the rest to look after the house.

Rez said that he wanted to his urn to be in the bedroom but his message was hijacked by his brother Totoro who said 'they all wanted to be inside, away from the sun but on a nice shelf but must be arranged nicely from first to last' So I decided to shift them all and now they are all together.
