Putih is our resident cat in this block which is near a primary school. The kids know her and we have talked to some of the children to ask them to keep an eye on her and also to tell others not to steal her collar. She is mild-mannered and has several feeders. Although we had spoken to the children and the man (who feeds her sometimes) to clean up and not to put canned food on the floor and sometimes on the stone seats, we sometimes see these things and have to clean up after these feeders. The man and the children have not seen the feeders who did this though!
My concern for Putih is that lately we have seen 2 new cats at this block. One is a big black cat that was relocated here without my knowledge. One of the residents living in the block told Cousin R that a caregiver(!!!) had asked her if she could relocate this black cat to this area as the black cat had been eating up people's ornamental plants and was in danger of being reported upon. The resident actually allowed her to do that and now the black cat hangs around her house and eats up her plants. Now we have another tux who makes a lot of noise and one of the residents had already complained to the aunty asking why 'her' cat is making such a ruckus. the aunty was angry and pointed to a very quiet Putih. The resident then apologised. I do not know if the same caregiver had relocated this other cat here or if the cat was abandoned by someone or even if it was a pet cat. We try to feed them if they come to dinner but sometimes the plant eater is not there. The plant eater has become friends with Putih though and he is already sterilised.
I worry that people might get upset and send for pest control and Putih and the 2 cats would be caught. It is true that this area is very quiet and there is hardly anyone about in the afternoon and evening but this is a very dangerous area because of the proximity of the primary school. I do not know for sure who the woman who had relocated the black cat was (or if she was even a caregiver) but I hope she won't make any more of these re-settlement decisions without thinking about the dangers to her cats as well as Putih.
