Yes its true...

Cik Mina on the prowl...

Yes its true:

I had not been able to blog for the whole week. It was a very busy week at work but I am glad to report that Cik Mina's kittens were all adopted - 4 were adopted by the cleaning lady and one by a student. I was a little concerned that they were adopted just two weeks after she gave birth but it seemed everyone was worried that the supervisor would send all of them packing. Cik Mina seemed rather well and she has been seen hanging out with her previous litter. I still hope to be able to spay her soon.

Megat and Bujang hanging out...not too near but not to far either...
Yes its true:
I brought both of them to the vet. Megat had a checkup and review of his kidneys. He was calm and collected although we could feel him trembling just a little. The vet tried to get his blood from the inside of his left leg to no avail. "Wah..you are so roly-poly but your veins so tiny!" the vet said to Megat. Megat merely looked at the vet while her assistant crooned to him. Finally she got some blood from his other leg.
We also talked about his bald spots. She said it could be due to many factors - mites or lice (he doesn't have them), diet (he needs his renal formula so that is not something we could take away), stress (Ms Akira has been harrassing him of late but not slapping him), fear of his surroundings (its true that Megat only comes out of the bedroom when I am home but he walks about quite confidently and has taken to sleeping in Bujang's bed and on Toro's blanket). She also said she would prefer to take care of his kidneys first than his bald spots as they were not red. She said that if the spots were traumatised, then we could re-look the case. So we got some Bach Flower Remedy for FEAR. The vet said it would work for anxiety too.
She told us that the bloodtest would take about 15 minutes. After some anxiety, the vet came out and told us :

Megat - a picture of fear? NOPE!

His results were the best she has seen! His numbers were ALL within acceptable range. In March his BUN numbers were on the high side still but now, all is fine. :) We were all very pleased and she said I should bring him back in 6 months. There was nothing wrong with him (except his FIV of course) that a little TLC would not cure. Oh he has some slight gingivitis but this strikes all senior cats but as long as his breath is not smelly and he is not drooling like a komodo dragon, it should be ok. I told the vet I would bring him back with the rest of the troop when it was time for their yearly check-up.

You know I won't lie...

Yes its true that:

The vet managed to trim Bujang's nails from all his four paws! Before the err..procedure , the vet outlined her plans to her assistant. It just consisted of her assistant cradling Bujang gently and her using her lightning reflexes to cut his nails from the back, so he won't see what was happening. And so it was. Clip, clip, clip..snarl...SNARL..grrr...rest..clip..clip...GRRR, clip, clip. hiss, HISS, clip, clip..clip...sigh...all over! Bujang gave us one last HISSSSS and we all told him he was a very good boy and it was time to go.
I thought that I could get him a shower too at the groomers but as soon as the groomer heard his name, her eyes went wide and she said "I am not good with naughty cats, only naughty dogs." Even when I told him the vet had clipped all his nails, she laughed and said she could not do it as only Felicia (who was on a break) could bathe Bujang. I was a little surprised but she very earnestly told me that only one person can handle Bujang and that was Felicia. Alamak! Bujang has become a victim of his own notoriety! But like all people with a nasty reputation, Bujang didn't seem to care and as soon as we came home, he walked out of his carrier and cleaned his own nails :)

  1. Good to see that Megat is a picture of health!!

Poor Bujang, I think you need some Bach yourself, before the grooming sessions. You are not fierce, just very scared right?
