Family Time at home

 

This happened this morning and made all the difference in the world. When she first came to live with us, Popps used to chase Tanaka all over the house and told Fern that 'he smells' and she didn't like how inquisitive he was about her. But now they are comfortable with each other and he sometimes sits near her when Rez is about. He knows she would chase Rez off and so protect him. 

It's too hot for anything else

 

She has been napping for some time. I have taken out her collar as she has been to the vet twice in succession - once for blood test and another for the ultra sound. The imagist found thickened intestine walls and the vet said it might be inflammation or worse cancer. He recommended that she goes for an endoscopy to be sure as she is only 12 and on good health. The heart murmur is not an immediate danger as well. He recommend that she goes today but I wanted her to get some rest from all that poking and peering. So she is going on Monday instead. That will allow her some days of peace before she needs to fast again for yet another procedure. I hope this is the last one.

I have my own blanket but I prefer sleeping on san's. 

Akira at the vet

 

It's time for everyone's half yearly medical check ups since everyone in the house has some medical issues.  Akira has been very well apart from the overgrooming issues and last year she had elevated amylase indicators. The vet said it was not something to be worried about in a cat if in isolation. 

Yesterday though the news was not good for Ms Akira. Her amylase had continued to rise coupled now with a increased indicator for Lipase. The vet suggested pancreatitis. Dr Oh suggested that in the next round of tcm, we should do a full blown pancreatitis tcm with some overgrooming , instead of the other way round. 

An even harder blow is that Ms Akira has a heart murmur and it seems there is nothing to be done for it but take medicataion. Her vet Dr T suggested Fortekor to begin with to take care of her heart. But there is nothing to take care of her valves. Dr Oh suggested lotus root as it is believed to help with the heart and we already have the powder for that. 

She is going for an eco cardiagram and an abdominal cardiagram today as the imagist (from another practice) will be away next week and the practice had squeezed her in as she is a referral. 

After this, Dr Tay will further advise us as to her care. I was very shocked yesterday as I did not expect the heart murmur. I was expecting some bad news about her liver or pancreas. The happy news is that her kidneys are well and her liver values have returned to normal. 

Ms Akira is not a happy cat as this will be the second time (in a row) that she has to fast but she is a quick learner and had opted to sleep instead of making continuous requests for food like yesterday. 

Just Because

 

Yesterday Rez spent the whole day outside just hanging with family. He behaved very well and didn't disturb anyone. He was just enjoying the Breeze and minding his own business. There was a short spat with Popps but still it was a very successful day out for all of the kitties together. 

Saturday Sunpuddle

 

From Fern last night:

She was relaxed and contented. Body san was good and she was adorable to have tried to sniff me out while we were talking. 

 

Her face was much better. There are still marks but no more redness or puffiness. Her daily routine for meds is kind of gruelling though.  She is taking tcm for 'stomach heat' from Dr Oh, vits B and C, lysine and herbal supplements (liquid) from NHV stimmune (to improve her immune system), Algae-Ex (for environmental allergens) and Tripsy (for her kidneys). She also has tcm for her kidneys. 

Mid Week Adventures

 

It was nice to see Bujang exploring other parts of the park. These roots held a fascination for him and I was glad there were no ants here.  

He went to his favourite part of the park but the Town Council had trimmed the grass here. Even the bushes were shorter and so he didn't get as much joy. He didn't linger nor did he sit to watch the goings-on.

He loves ixora for their sweet smell. These were the only bushes with flowers on them still. 

I was quite surprised that he would pee outside of his box. This border was particularly interesting for him and he took some time smelling the edges. Then he turned around and peed. I guess it was some kind of outdoor toilet for commcats and dogs.  

He was quite adventurous this morning. We were here at about 7.15 and we went home a little later after 8. The sun was out and it became too hot to walk about then.  

Bujang in slow-mo

Yesterday we went to the park early at about 7 ish as I was afraid it would get more humid later. Bujang enjoyed himself although the grass was a little wet from the rain the night before. I didn't know if he would walk on wet grass but he did. Then I decided to take a video of him walking for Adrian and accidentally got him in slow motion. It just shows how his body moves which would be of interest to Adrian , his osteopath. Of cos he was also meowing loudly. I don't know why he did that though.

Sunday Best

     

San is just putting up our best picture for the week. It has been a Long time since we had done Easy Peasy Sunday that she quite forgot about it. San's major paperwork has come to an end so she had taken more pictures of us. Have a good Sunday everyone. 

Saturday at home

This morning all 3 boys were together in the living room. Rez has been practising sitting calmly with Tanaka and Bujang. He manages to do this in short bursts but the process for all 3 of them is invaluable. So it has resulted in this short time together- all 3 sitting in peace and quiet. SUCCCESS!
