More Reading

I am now reading this book called The Nine Emotional Lives of Cats - I suppose it goes with their supposed 9 lives :) . It is quite interesting reading as the author makes observations about his five cats, much like a cat blog in hardcopy. He talks about Narcissism (he disagress that they are this by nature), Love, Contentment, Attachment, Jealousy, Fear, Anger, Curiosity and Playfulness. I am now at Attachment. I can see some of the characteristics in the amigos. Of course I am interested in what he has to say as I love the amigos to bits and I think they love me in their way (or is that only my take on it? ) He has a cat called Megalamandira. What a fantastic and glorious sounding name. His cats are all rescued from shelters and given to him by his friends so that is nice. :)

Sunday afternoon snooze

Bujang is falling asleep after kibble. In the morning he refused to eat his wet food. He took one sniff at it and left. Then he complained very loudly that he was hungry. Bujang hardly ever complains but when he does, it is deeply shrill - like an electric saw. I gave him some chicken and tuna which he ate in one breath. No wonder he is fat. Actually I should help him lose weight but he looks nice. When he was on a diet before he looked kind of wasted and bony (as bony as he can get- which is not much) The doc didn't give me anything. Just told me to feed him less. I have to type a little slowly now as Toro is busy trying to help me by flicking his tail in my face and tapping the monitor.

Cleanliness is next to catliness

This is my very first picture that I exported from my IXUS. Okay it is true like the salesman told me, the orange is not the red eye but only Bujang's. He does have orange sometimes copper eyes. As usual Bujang is cleaning himself with no thought about anything else. I read something interesting in the Cat Lover's Survival Guide by Karen Commings about Cleaning Your Cat. I thought it would be good to list a few here just in case I need them.

1. When rinsing soap from your cat's coat, use 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water. The mixture will leave a shiny coat. (I think I will leave this part to the groomers for the amigos)
2. If your cat picked up urine ordors from rubbing against the interior side of a litter box, rub some baking soda into her coat, gently massage it in, then brush it out. (For Toro and Akira only. The groomers will do for Bujang :))

Sometimes Bujang sits in his litter. I do not know why. But of course the litter would have been cleaned of all the debris. Sometimes he watches his litter intently. I do not know why either. I have switched from Shweat to something else so there should not be anything crawling about. Hmmmm...

3. If your cat comes into contact with chewing gum, remove it by rubbing an ice cube on the gum until it hardens and can be pulled out. Then wash the areas thoroughly. I worry about this sometimes when Bujang goes for a walk. I have not brought him down for 3 weeks so I am feeling a little guilty about it but it has been raining and I'm afraid he will get fleas. So we do not walk when the grass is wet.

4. If your cat walks on tar, remove it by rubbing butter or margarine on the tarred area until the tar softens and can be pulled off. Repeat if necessary, then wash your cat's feet. (Who knows what might happen to us when we go out for our walks)

5. If your cat rubs against oil-based paint, wipe it off immediately with a dry cloth then bathe your cat. If the paint has dried and hardened, cut it out (WOAH) and then bathe your cat. Caution: Do not use paint remover, kerosene, turpentine or gasoline to remove paint from your cat's hair.

All very good advice. Stuff that I would not have known if not for my short visit to the library at White Sands. I should go get some more reading material. After all I am already in the database. :)

An appointment with Mr Groomer

Bujang is going to the groomers today if I can get an appointment. It takes them 3 hours to get him all washed, shampooed, clean his ears and clip his nails. That does not include getting him really dry as he is a terror at the groomers. I forgot to call them up yesterday for the appointment. This is for them as much as for me as I have to get him into the carrier and then onto the stroller as he is too heavy to carry the distance. I have sprayed some honeysucke into the carrier and on his soft toy which he has tried to bite and finally left forlorn as he goes to investigate a beetle at the doorway.

What's happening this Sunday

Nothing much I must say. I bought a new camera last night Canon IXUS in purple. Actually I bought it because of the colour more than anything. I snapped some pics this morning but have yet to put them up. I really hate reading manuals and have been trying to remember what the salesman told me about the functions yesterday. Of course nothing is as it should be . Even when I had the red eye thingee out, poor Bujang's eyes were as devilish as ever - all bright and shining like Jack Nicholson in a movie of the same name. :)

This pic I took yesterday before my hp went on the blink. You can see the same graininess cos its just 2 pixels. Toto's ears are always on the alert cos he is so afraid he will miss something. He has to be in the middle of everything which totally irritates the other 2. From this pic you can also see how relaxed Bujang is. This is how he is most times and it takes alot to get him riled up enough to slap Toro. Toro has been getting the PAW many times to no effect. These days befaore Bujang slaps him for harrassment, he would just roll on his tummy much to Bujang's surprise. Then he doesn't get slapped. Hahaha. Guerilla tactics in a bundle of fur.

Saturday bytes

@diabellalovecats

The amigos are grinning widely. I'm just sorry you guys can't see it as I have no hp. Its on the blink and in the shop for 3 days. I bought the hp 10 days ago and its already on the blink. I spoke to someone who bought the same model about the same time as me and her mp3 player is on the blink. She has been to the Care centre twice. Aiyahh..it's the model for sure. I will miss snapping the amigos in various poses but I'm sure they are quite relieved. Akira is having aquiet snooze on my lap at the computer. She likes the warmth from the lamp light as well as the images that she sees in the computer. The other 2 are just lazing about. An ordinary Saturday like any other.

Blair Witch Project - Tug of War

and the winner is ....

At last- success

@actioncat.com

Finally I managed to upload the YouTube thingee. It took me many many tries. The video is pretty grainy as it's from my handphone. I have yet to get myself a digicam and video outfit like so many bloggers have. :) I tried to get one yesterday cos I wanted to at least upload one this weekend. I went to C but there was no one to help me. One of the guys welcomed me but he said he was not able to help me as the management says - those who greet cannot serve. ??!! Anyway the video is about Toro and his love for a nap..even in the middle of playing :))

Wha.....zzzzzzzz

We can hear you from a hundred miles chum

Toro is using his blue collar again. The other collars although nice, are quiet and we can hardly hear Toro. He was able to sneak up on Akira. much to her screaming horror. With this collar, we can hear him from a hundred miles and no more surprise attacks chum!
