I am Godzilla!

Tadum! Tadum!

Hmmm...what's this? Smells good...

1...2...3...

GRRRRRRR!! TAKE THAT!

...and one more object bites the dust, alhtough the lamp still works very well...no thanks to Godzilla.

Welcome to Our House Rocket Tanaka

Are you sure grandma? You won't ask san to send me away later would you?

I told grandma about E, the potential adopter who had been asking me about Tanaka. Grandma is very fond of Tanaka and has been saying (sporadically) that he should just stay with us as he is getting bigger and the amigos are used to him. More importantly she said, he is used to them and if we send him away, he would be sure to look for his fav kitty- Megat and Megat would miss him too. I also know she likes him as when she stayed with Sister N for 4 days, she kept talking about Tanaka more than any other amigo. When I told her about E and whether we should send him for his adoption, she kept quiet until I had to ask her straight up if she wanted to keep Tanaka with us.

She said yes straightaway. I asked her if it would be too much to have 5 cats in the house but she said he is big already and he is used to us. It would be a sad thing to let him go. I told her she has to be sure and not tell me to send him away once he is already part of the amigo house as it would be traumatic for me as well as Tanaka. Without hesitation, she said we are already taking care of him and so she sees no difference.

So now Rocket Tanaka is one of the Owners of the House; one of us. I think 5 is enough.

Newcomer

Eating kibble very slowly...

STOP THAT! What are you doing?

My first glimpse at the actual cat in daylight...

This kitty appeared at out void deck last 3 weeks, then he/she disappeared for a whole week before making a comeback. I have yet to see if its male or female as I have never seen it raise its tail at all. When it first came, Cousin R told me it gave her a fright as its a really BIG kitty - bigger than Bujang and FatBoy. It has a face like a dinner plate but a small, gentle voice. I had thought of asking V to come to catch it so we could send it for sterilisation but it disappeared. Now that it is back here, I hope it stays here long enough and is regular enough so V can catch it. I don't have the confidence to catch it myself as it is truly one of the biggest cats I have ever seen!

I had put some Frontline on it as I am sure it has mites and lice. It actually just sat there and allowed me to do it which actually surprised me a lot. I think its an abandoned kitty as its so meek and mild, unlike Minah who could be pretty eccentric. Actually every one of the WildBunch was frontlined for good measure!

Ms Akira's coming out day...

What do you mean? I am perfectly happy in here!

I'll show you..just a minute..I have to get myself in order...

See? I can do this...

And this... it's perfectly comfortable for me...

Ok now...please leave me alone..

Yes. I know this is the first time that I am in here after many months.
The Bach helps my nervous disposition..ermm..yes..

Ms Akira has been much more sociable these days. She does come out into the living room area although she sits away from the rest of the boys, away from Megat particularly. Ever since the last big showdown (about 4 months ago) where there was some blood (Megat's), she has been minding her own business away from the boys. She is either on the fridge and therefore extremely safe from everyone or under the covers in grandma's room or on top of her cage in the living room.
However, I am glad to see her getting into the swing of things, after the usual dose of Bach Flower Remedy (Aggression) cos she used to bully everyone. But she is now much calmer. She has started growling at Megat if she sees him anywhere near her these days. Before, she just used to run off and hide some place. So I know she is gradually becoming her usual prima donna self. :)
I have just started giving Toro a dose of the Bach too as he is getting very naughty and has started trying to bully her. Megat's interest in Tanaka has resulted in him being less interested in bullying Ms Akira although he does make some half-hearted runs at her. But he would usually stop when I call his name loudly and firmly.
Today Ms Akira came out and inspected the bedroom (her previous playing ground). Then she walked about in the living room and went up the cat gym. I have to say however that I had put Megat in another room as I was preparing to leave to buy catfood. But its a start for the Little Ms and so maybe I should just seqester Megat for a hour everyday in the room so Ms Akira can get some breathing space. Hmmm...

The Rocket at rest

Huh? You mean people have been asking after me? Whoah!!

Bigger version of his pic on the sidebar taken today...

To be sure Tanaka has grown to be much more handsome. His features have filled up and so has his person :) His stripes are more obvious these days and when he romps on Megat, Megat has to frequently run away from him or else he gets clobbered! This does not stop Megat from looking for Tanaka and inviting him to play though :)

This afternoon, I managed to get his pics when he was at rest as all the amigos were asleep and no one was willing to entertain him. So he clambered up the gym and rested :) It was peaceful at last in the amigo house.

I do not know how I feel about people who have been asking for him. Well, there were all of 2 actually. One disappeared when I asked if she has ever had a kitten. The other was more perservering, telling me that her whole family was willing to take him in, that she would sterilise him when he is 6 months and that she would not let him out of the house. They do not have kids in the house and have no pets. The family lives on the 2nd floor but would close the windows when they have pets. HUH! (I thought she said they have no pets! I asked if they have mesh on their windows or would they make sure that they mesh up their windows if they have Tanaka.) I got these very useful questions from vegancat's community cat blog as well as the cws site. So I guess the answer to that question is they have no mesh or grills on their windows and would not be getting them meshed any time soon.

But cats do fall out from windows and I think they could die even if its from the 2nd floor no? Maybe this is not a good potential adopter!

PS: The potential adopter emailed to say that her cat died of old age - at 15 years old. 15 years is a good old age for cats :) Hmmm...sounds okie :/

Alone outside

Tanaka suddenly realised he was by himself...

Tanaka trying to figure out why his bruffers were inside the house...

"I'd better stay close to my bruffers. I dunno what will happen to me outside.."

Suddenly realising that he had a leash...a leash that looked and smelled strange to boot...

After a while, he got used to the new leash and walked about..but he always stayed close to his house and his bruffers...

A close-up..

In the afternoon, I thought I should try walking Tanaka along the corridor. This would be a new experience as he had always gone to the corridor with the rest of the boys. He had always enjoyed being with Toro and Bujang outside and would investigate each pot carefully. Today however, he was outside by himself and the boys were protesting, especially Toro but I wanted to take Tanaka for a walk along the corridor and I could not do that if the boys were outside as well. He walked along the corridor but kept close to the house and would frequently go to the grills to chat with the boys. I think he missed them :)
We were out only for a short 20 minutes as I did not want to overwhelm him. I only wanted him to get used to the new leash and the experience of exploring the world by himself. He didn't like the new leash one bit and spent some time telling the leash that. :)

Sleepy Saturday?

This was one of the most strange Saturdays in the amigo household. The house has never been so quiet and the kitties so sleepy! They slept right after dinner - Bujang in grandma's room, Toro on the couch, Ms Akira on her usual roost, Megat on the throw pillow. Even Tanaka was quietly asleep on his litter!
I was watching a video on Tv when I realised that there was no sound of meowing or romping! It was very strange altogether. I attribute it to the rains. There was no other explanation for such phenomena :)

Is it time yet?

Yes, its time now...

Can't you see I'm hungry? Please can you get up from that couch...like now?

The boys were in tandem trying to persuade me that it was dinner time already. Bujang's unblinking stare was like a dagger through my conscience and as though he knew it, he came even nearer to me to make me feel it even more keenly. Toro went up onto the table the better to add his two cents worth. Even grandma was taken in and told me they were hungry and it was 1/2 hr to their dinner time. The boys sure know how to put on the pressure :)

Do it this way...

Toro helping me with the banner...
"Its best if the kitty sits in the flower san..."

On the 1st Day of 2008

What do I see in my future?

The amigos treat the New Year much like any other day- lolling about, begging for treats, playing and generally having a relaxing time. Grandma managed to hold Tanaka on her lap for some time without him protesting. He yawned and batted at Toro's tail when Toro came by waving it in his face. Toro just sniffed at him on grandma's lap but did not protest. He would make a fuss if Bujang sits close to grandma and Bujang would usually give way to him. Of course the fact that Bujang does not like to share space is another :)

I woke up a little late today as I was finishing some last minute work :) and grandma fed all of them except Tanaka. So this is good as we are getting into our routine as I have to go back to work tomorrow. But there is still today to rest and relax even for the likes of me :)

Happy New Year all bloggers :)
