How to make a collar

I guess now I can try to make cat collars with breakaway buckles. I just realised last week, after many years of throwing old buckles that I can try to make my own. Probably have to buy webbing from someplace and a sewing -machine. I can borrow the machine I guess. We'll see lah

Wah...expensive if you buy a sewing machine just for sewing cat collars. Besides not all machines can handle multiple thicknesses. I keep the breakaway buckles esp the "fish" ones. If I am making just one collar, i stitch a fabric band by hand. Last week i used a 5ply yarn, cast on 65 sts and knit 4 rows. It turns into a knitted band which is slightly stretchable. Good way to use up left-over yarns.
Besides collars, i make vests for cats who lick excessively. It is more comfortable than a e-collar.
The easiest to to buy a baby (newborn) t-shirt & run an elastic thru neck band and hem so it sits smugly on cat. There lots of craft people who are cat people. My friend and I like to Knit & Meow.
