Monday Mood

From our door, we can now see Megat's new pot easily. When the yellow flowers bloom again it would be very cheery for him.
                            A close-up
On Sunday I did some gardening to clear up the roses that refused to grow anymore. Possibly I did not pay as much attention to them as I did the yellow flowers that attract the sunbirds. I also decided to clear up space on this side of the corridor garden and placed Megat's urn in a smaller pot with new flowering plants. It is way higher than his previous position and receives more sun and breeze. When he was alive, this was what he loved most - to sit by the window seat in the afternoons for his quiet time feeling the warmth of the sun and the hint of the breeze that sometimes comes through the window. My sister gave me some garden decorations as well and so I think he would be pleased with the butterfly. I had given his memorial Buddha cat a good wash and so there he sits smiling brightly. I hope my rainbow cat Megat is pleased with where his urn is now.
Megat's urn used to be here, very low and when the plants grew more leaves, of course it became gradually darker and more obscure. I guess he just wanted some light.

Remembering Megat

Yesterday was the first anniversary for our rainbow kitty Megat. As usual on the anniversary we usually have Fern speak to speak with him. I found this picture of him sitting near the window at his favourite box. He was a cat who loved a breeze and quiet times. I remembered feeding him downstairs when he was still a community cat. I used to shake my keys and I would wait for the very shrill meows that would emanate from the cavern that was the carpark and in about a minute, I would see a tiny ball of black fur, dirty but determined. He could eat a whole can of food all by himself, never mind the cockroaches that would fight him for the food! Then after some months, he decided to follow me home  step after determined step. He stayed with me for 5 years after that until he went to the bridge and cleaned up pretty well except for some of the scars on his face, the result of fights.
We spent a lot of time with him sleeping on my chest while he dealt with lymphoma. I sang him lullabies and read him silly essays which I was grading. He had to sit still for about 20 minutes for the lingzhi suppository to take effect. He was not always pleased but to his credit, he tried to sit still until the dinner call "6 o'clock Megat. Time to eat!" Then no amount of cuddling was going to stop him from his favourite - tuna with chicken.
It's time to post what Fern, our animal communicator friend, spoke to him about yesterday on his anniversary. The request surprised me but I think what cats think will always surprise me.

Fern:
(Images of where he is) Sitting in grass by a stream curiously watching fish in the water. Very pleasant day, nice breeze and clear sky. Later he walked to a tree nearby and jumped up to a branch and sitting there.
(Images of what he wants) A thick plank of wood, something to do with the plant pit that has his urn inside. He said to help raise his pot up a bit higher. And another request is about the grass that he used to chew. ( oh dear.... This is much harder than fish on a stick)
He said Totoro is further away, (image) Toro calmly crouching under another tree, looking at the surrounding.
He said he saw Putih in your house and said its nice that you saved her. He didn't say he knew Putih but he said he knew that Putih's life is similar to his, in the sense that she had to fend for herself all alone, and that's tough.
He said he likes it if you talk to him by putting your palm around his plant pot and feel him inside it.
Megat's urn is in the pot on the right with the plants with big leaves. Toro's jasmine pot is the one on the left.
               Sleep well Megat.

Saturday Easy

I went out walking for a whole hour. It was quiet and I relaxed and looked at the world. The grass was short though I ate some.
I saw the sunbird and watched it drinking nectar.
It was pretty and but I fink it would have been better if it came in to play wif me. Then it rained and it left. I went back into the house and decided to nap. But first I did this ...
                    Fresh linen ... Hmmmmmmm

TGIF

I thought it would be nice to post the first pictures that were posted here of Akira, Bujang and Tanaka today ...just for fun as its TGIF day. But a few of them are quite blurry as these were the first pictures I had posted of them in this blog.
This was Bujang when he was only 4 weeks. It was the first picture in this blog. This was in Jan 2006. We only had 5 posts in 2005 and there were no pictures in any of those posts.
This was Akira firs picture as well. She had a fur on her hind legs and belly. This was in 2006
Akira and Bujang did many things together then as there were only 2 of them in the house.
This was only one of the only two pictures I have of them grooming each other. They are still friends now but they are not as close.
This terror came to us in 2007.
He was a terror then and still is even now

We hope you like the pictures :) It was nice to see them when they were much younger.

Thursday Lessons

I do not think anyone can blame me. After all I only promised to fink about it. Eventhough san told me that I should follow my bruffer Bujang, I didn't really feel that I need to. I am my own cat!

We are still trying to convince Tanaka that he should behave well with Akira and allow her to move around the house freely, just like him. The leash training went well and now we are trying to 'graduate' into free movement but still under supervision. I had tried (very difficult to do) to hover less around them when they are together. I had also told Bujang that I would appreciate his help and to show Tanaka what to do if he feels antsy or he wants to run after Akira the night before this happened. This happened last night.

Here Bujang went up to Akira and spent some seconds just doing this. I assume that he was giving her instructions.
The almost immediately he went to see Tanaka who was hiding under the small table. There was some sniffing.
Then Bujang went to the cat scratcher and spent time there as well. After which he moved away.
(These are the exact movements that I had been trying to encourage Tanaka to do. If he feels that he wants to chase, he should look away and do something else- either move away or go to the cat scratcher to calm himself down)
After a minute or two, Akira decided to get off the boxes and walked across the room. This was a very brave thing for her to do. Tanaka immediately streaked out from under the table and chased her. She ran into the bedroom BUT turned around to yell at him. He did stop for a second but I was much too anxious and went to tell Tanaka to remove himself from there. He did so quite immediately and Akira ran off to her room. Of course Tanaka was quarantined for being naughty.
This picture was taken after a 20 minute or so quarantine. He immediately walked out and peered into the kitchen to see if Akira was there. She had gone to the kitchen after a few minutes in her room and had sat on top of the fridge. He spent the rest of the time lolling about in the living room afterwards.
See san? What did I tell you about these two? Hopeless!

Afterwards I thanked Bujang for helping me teach the kitties to behave. I had also praised Akira for being brave enough to even walk across the living room in front of Tanaka.(I learnt from Fern that Bujang was very particular about respect and all love praise) I told her she should try it again and the next time to stop, turn around and yell at Tanaka loudly. She could also swat him but not at his eyes. If she runs off, he would give chase. We will see how these lessons go or even if she would try to walk about again in Tanaka's presence in the living room.

Monday Mood

Tanaka and Fern talked last night as usual after his Reiki and of course the conversation was about Putih. I had tried to get Putih to wear the collar several times and of course I had also bought her the inflatable collar but we had such so much trouble with that as well. Tanaka was watching the great drama that unfolded yesterday.

Fern: He was a bit cranky and wondered why Putih got all the attention. Later on in the healing he was calm and sighed. and said its ok, with a bit bored face. I explained to him he must support Putih and help her recover. He said "i know, i know". Then he jumped off and said he would look for something else more interesting to do.

Easy Peasy Sunday Thanks

This week the haze has been bad but not as bad as before. But san did not allow us to be outside and so we only got to watch the outside from inside the house. However we give thanks for even having a house to live in. We know about Sherri and her companions who may lose their house and they may not have a place to stay and it will be dangerous to live in a tent or in the woods with so many animals. So we know we are very lucky to be together in a small flat but we are comfortable where we are. We are also thankful that we do not have to worry unlike our friend Putih. She worries about being attacked again but we admire her courage as she still wants to go home and to take care of herself.
Yesterday san allowed the white cat Putih to walk about my house.  I was up here so I can observe her from far away. She has a blue collar on her. San says it's because she keeps biting her wounds and now she cannot go away as fast as I want her to. Hmmmmm...
Putih is still safe wif us but  san says that the wounds nearest her rump are open again. But at least there is no more pus, only some clear fluids. She has an upside down collar as she was so stressed when san put the collar the right side up. But she stopped worrying her wounds. But later at night this happened...
She had removed her collar by herself. San was very surprised and although san said it was furry clever, it would now also be a little more troubling. san had tried to get the inflatable collar but the shops only have ones for dogs which are too big for her. However, san says at least she feels comfortable in our house. I don't fink THAT is a good fing though!

All in all I fink we had a good week and we are all safe and healthy. Okay even the white cat is ok I fink. She just hisses at me sometimes. I can take that as I am a boy. I told san we should end our post wif a pikshur of  Bujang and I playing (me trying to beat Bujang up).
Have a good Sunday effuryone !
