Thoughts on Thursday

Megat likes talking to Fern but of late has been a little quiet. Megat has been improving slowly and has more energy than before. He does eat as much as he can of the wet food in the evening and does eat some kibble throughout the day. There are only two times when the kitties come together to eat as a group, for breakfast and for dinner. Megat enjoys this ritual as he does come to the kitchen but in the mornings he does not have the appetite to eat sometimes. Nowadays he comes out into the living room to sit with us more. I think this is a good beginning. Fern had this to say:

Sent Reiki to Megat and then talked to him. He is much better physically (and we see this also) as I could feel his energy is more balanced - not fluctuating like previous weeks. He is calm and relaxed. Asked him about eating, he said this morning (Wed morning) he didn't feel like eating. So I asked him to try to eat regularly so that he can recover well and don't need to see vet again too soon. He said he knows...

Tanaka asked me if Megat is ok already (no lymphoma) then can he play with Megat? I said playing ok NOT disturbing Megat. And he said he liked it that you gave him a bowl of dry food the other day. He didn't know exactly what he wanna eat...

san. Tanaka has been very respectful of Megat these past 2 months, sitting and looking at him quietly. Tanaka, being only 6, likes jumping and running and especially ambushing Bujang and Megat. He is very energetic :)

Just Because

Ok. I know san admires my stature. I hope she won't be rude about it on the blog!

If I stay quite still I would look slimmer.

Just Do It Megat.

It was very good to see Megat eating is breakfast this morning, at 4.50 am. He was alert and waited patiently for me to serve his wet food. Last night after opening 4-5 cans, he finally decided that he would eat Friskies' mackerel and tuna. It was 7 years ago that he had eaten Friskies as I was told that it was not the best food to give cats, even community cats as it was sweet. But, for a kitty like Megat, any food he was willing to eat is the food I would give him.

So this morning he ate his Friskies' as well I was very glad that he also decided to eat some of what was on Bujang's plate, which was Applelaws chicken with pumpkin. Well, he licked the pumpkin and left the chicken. I told him I was glad that there was no need for force-feeding this morning. So he just had Vit B, C Caps and salbutamol.

Last night we tried to give him the duphalac but he spat it all out. Cousin R reminded me that we could give him Laxatone instead which was we did, about 1.5 in of it. At about 9-nish I heard Megat yelling and growling away in his night cage. This is always a signal that he wants me to either clean his litter, clean his cage or clean him! Indeed Megat had done his business and there was poo in the litter. The not so good thing was the poo was soft. So 1.5 is too much for the guy. After a major clean-up, he rested for a bit with me and then I tucked him in for the night.

This morning I saw that he had eaten all of his 20g of kibble. HURRAH!

I had also given him a firm pep-talk as advised by cat_aunty. No more advice and soft talk. I told him that since we had both gone through so much together, it is only reasonable for him to make an effort to stay with me and at least make an effort to eat. I also said that if he did not try to eat I would have to bring him back to hospital where he would have to be on the drip! I spoke to him during his 35-min sang hwang lingzhi suppository sessions where I would have to cuddle him to allow for all of the sang hwang to be absorbed into his system. I just told him what is what and that we will always be with him whatever he decides to do. But I hope that he would eat so his body would be healthy :)) Then we had a cuddle and I sang him a song cos he needs to keep still for the sang hwang. I had also given him his 1/2 (2mg) cyproheptidene pill in a capsule after his dinner.

So its either the cypro (unlikely as it would take several days to kick in) or just a cat's nature to 'just do it' when it suits him. Whatever it is, I am glad that he ate his food as usual and had done his business.

This is my favourite picture of Megat taken early this year.

Megat on Monday

Megat is doing a little better yesterday. He ate his breakfast by himself and his dinner as well. It was less than usual but at least he did it himself. Our animal communicator friend Fern, spoke to him and had this to say, "Megat listened to me well but (I) felt he doesn't quite have appetite. He (was) silently relieved to know (that he had) nothing serious i.e. no lymphoma."

Several months ago Megat sounded different. Fern said - " M was in a  lazy mood and our session went well. He said he was a bit bored but he's alright. He said he's relaxing and yawned at me. I said don't worry about your health. You are still young at heart. He smiled and waved his paw and said "nah" But he's cool about it." So I hope to get him up to this mood of just relaxing.

But he didn't get out of the bedroom for the whole day and certainly there was no poo. So that is still an issue for us. He didn't take to the duphalac much, spitting it out in every turn. But alter in the evening, he was quite lively and walked about the house. Maybe its because Cousin R is around and the house is indeed livelier.

This morning, he licked his food again and so I had to give him food in a syringe - pure beef mixture with some anchovy gravy. I also saw he had eaten some of his 20g kibble.

His routine for the morning now is (after food):
1 Vit B pill (for overall health and appetite)
1/2 C Cap capsule (for immunity, cell health and energy)
0.1 salbutamol
1 Kidney Activator capsule
9 ml food in syringes (unless he decides to eat by himself)
2 ml duphalac (1 ml in the am and 1 ml in the pm)
I have decided to retry the cyproheptidene but only 1/4 in the am. He HATES this and I have not been able to give it to him in the pill form, mixed with honey or even mixed with food. Later I will try to get 1 cm capsule and put it in there for the evening meal.

His evening routine is (before food as the suppository needs 45 mins to be absorbed):
1 Vit B pill
1/2 C Cap
1 Kidney Activator capsule
1.5 ml lingzhi extract + 2 ml colloidal silver+ papaya and pumpkin (to mask taste)
2 ml duphalac (1 ml at 5 and 1 ml later at night)
1 lingzhi suppository
250 ml Hartmann's Solution
and the cyproheptidene. (after food)

Actually the only addition now is the Vit B, C Cap and cyproheptidene. The rest is the usual arsenal that he gets for about 4 years already, after his 1st bout of lymphoma.
Its a pretty long list san. 4 years? I am getting pretty tired of it!

No Lymphoma!

          No lymphoma? None?

That is what the ultra sound found. He has no more lymphoma and his intestines are fine. Dr S thinks it could also be due to the sang hwang suppositories that he has had. During this harrowing time he had a suppository everyday, even on Sunday! So in about a month, he has an all clear.

The bad news is that his intestine is full of hard poo and Dr S said this could also contribute to him not wanting to eat. He feels full all the time.

So Dr Ly gave him microlax and in a matter of minutes he had pooped on the examination table. Dr Ly also added that vincristine could cause constipation as well.

I guess Megat got his revenge !

On the matter of his appetite, it is still an uphill task. But we are more optimistic as now it is just constipation and NOT lymphoma.
Must you discuss this! Surely no one is interested in constipation!!

Megat on Friday

Dr L treated Megat yesterday. As usual Megat was quiet as Dr L performed acupressure. Megat left kidney was marginally better than 2 weeks ago but still it was encouraging.

He advised that I give Megat some home-made beef or chicken broth if I have to force- feed him in the mornings instead of the pumpkin-potato-beef mixture of commercial baby food. Less dry food was the recommendation as well as his kidneys need to improve. Dr L felt that a compromised kidney might contribute to his problems in his intestines.

We are making the beef broth for him today. I was supposed to make a broth out of beef and bones and feed it to him in the morning, with no vegetables. I also found a few cans of no-grain Call Of The Wild, and had sieved that to feed him this morning. He liked it quite a bit as he did not spit it out at me. I had added a little gravy from Whiskers beef and chicken.

He eats by himself in the evening and he also has about 15 to 20 gm of kibble for a snack. For this I say thanks everyday :)

Later today he is going for ultra sound and of course his vincristine injection.

Keep the Faith Megat!!

Tanaka on Thursday

Is it time to get out of the room? Is it my turn to be outside now?

Tanaka has been very accommodating with our new living arrangements. When Ms Akira asks to be outside, which is every time I am home from work, he has to be inside the computer room. HE usually spends the time inside sleeping by the window. He does, sometimes, try to unlock the baby gates by jumping on the top one. This action unlatches the top gate and he can, if he tries, get outside. So we have locked the gate to ensure that nothing like this can happen.

He is cool about it and does not get fever from the stress anymore. We praise him everyday for helping his sister get better:)

Just Because

When I grow up, I want to become a bicycle mechanic. I can sniff out what is wrong with this one. After all we already sport the same colours. Can you see me san ?

Tuesday Escape-ade

No thanks san.  I do not need the meds - no salbutamol or the C-Caps. No, no baby food thanks.
THAT is what I have to say about the meds and the baby  food.
Ok. Maybe they are not so bad.

Megat behaves very well during meds. It's just a that he needs to be found for the whole thing to begin. Tomorrow this will happen at 4.30 am as it is the beginning of fasting month, Ramadhan.
