What a big cat!

Bujang looking at what humans are up to on sunday...

When Bujang and I went to the park this morning, we met an old lady at the void deck who was taking the morning air with her helper. She saw us and asked us to stop so she could see Bujang clearly. "Kucing!" she said. I told her his name is Bujang and we were going for our walk. The old lady asked her helper to help her walk with Bujang. She waited for me to get Bujang out of his carrier. When she saw him she said "Kusmangat! Besarnya." (Oh my goodness. He's a big cat).

She asked me if Bujang would bite. I told her he would bite if he doesn't like being touched or if he doesn't like the situation. But I knew she would like to touch him. So I carried him up and held him firmly to me. The old lady then carressed his head and told him he was a good boy. Bujang let the lady touch him for a bit and sniffed at her some. Then I let him down and he went on his way. The lady stayed for a while watching him.

She told me she once had rescued a black cat that she had neutered and cared for. It seemed her black cat died when he was 5 years old. I asked her what her cat died of but she told me that she didn't know. Even the doctors were puzzled. We didn't get much time to talk as Bujang wanted to go to the ixora and eat grass. So we said our goodbyes. :)

Sunday activities in the estate

Bujang watching some boys talking in the square on Sunday morning...

until 3 policemen came to chase them off. I guess they were making a great deal of noise in the morning. I can't hear them from where we were. The police spoke to the boys for about 5 minutes. Then the boys moved off to someplace else and we were the only ones left in the park, except for an old man who was doing some physiotherapy exercises and an old woman with her maid.

Smells suspicious...maybe doggie...

I have noticed of late that many people in my area let the toy dogs run freely. Its not bad as the dogs are obedient and would come when their owners call but I see also that a few of the owners would let their dogs pee along the walls and pillars. They don't ever wash it off but just watch and then they go off quite happily with their dogs. I suppose dogs will do their business just about anywhere unless their owners restrain them. Maybe we should have classes to train dog owners to be more civic-minded. :)

Of course there are owners who would walk their dogs on a leash and clean up after them but these owners are few- in my estate at least.

A cooler walk in the void deck....

WOAH! Whats with the water?

Close-up of a very surprised Bujang...

When Bujang was under the shade of the palm tree, we heard a sudden splash of water hitting the pavement. Startled Bujang loooked up and I saw a few plants being moved on the 5th floor. Its easy to see who the culprit was who had watered the plants with no thought about people walking under them. Thank goodnes we had moved from there about 10 minutes ago. If not Bujang and I would have been very wet from being watered. Aiyoh!

Grizzly

Oh no! Its a bear!

Toro's coat is looking very untidy. He looks alike a little grizzly bear :) I tried to get him a grooming appointment this weekend but was unsuccessful So he will be on his way to the groomer's for the full treatment next Saturday, just in time for CNY :)

Park II

The new town park with an exercise station

Bujang as usual snififng at the ixora

Who's that running?

Don't worry san. I'll keep the town safe...

This morning we went to the park across from our house. They Parks and Recreation people have revamped the park to buid a new exercise station. As a result there was no football playing as it was impossible to play soccer in such a small confined space. So there were only adults running and some young people on bicycles. 2 ladies even did some line dancing and qiqong :)

Bujang was pretty wary at first but later decided to explore. he sniffed at his ixoras and then sat about watching the activities. I should have brought a groundsheet as there was nowhere to sit and it would take some time since Bujang wanted to just sit and watch. Finally I sat on the grass but of course as soon as I did that, he decided he wanted to walk. His new jacket fits him better than his old one. It was a little loose so it does not bunch up. His pink collar looks very festive under the sun too :)

Finally he decided to walk all the way to the flats and kept watch on the goings on there...just in case there were strangers about in his neighbourhood. :)

I took a video clip of him walking amidst flying leaves as it was very windy. I think he was afraid as he meowed quite alot. So I carried him to where his carrier was and I could feel that his heart was beating very fast. He spent the last few minutes just sitting and grooming to calm himself. I tried to upload it on Utube but was not successful. I think its because its AVI format. I don't know how to change formats to mpeg so I guess that's that. :)

Yesterday Friday 2 Jan

These posts are about what happened to us yesterday. San broughted me to the park at last at last. I saw her wif my new jacket and so I stood still fur her to buckle me in. The new jacket was nice but stiff. She carried me into my carrier and we wented into the box thing that brings us downstairs to the grass. She wheeled me to the park! I was furry furry excited and meowed fur her to hurry..but not too much... cos san coughed a little. Then we went to the big grass and I got out and walked and walked and sat under the sun.

I had a good time. Maybe tonight I won't bite her!

Note from san

Well he still tried to bite me but it was a half-hearted affair. Anyway I had a squirt bottle full of water and so he didn't come any nearer. The next morning, he decided to sleep next to me and kneaded me with his claws. :) So I guess I am forgiven.

1st walk since Megat came to stay

Bujang messing around in the park

After my post yesterday, I thought it wise to take Bujang to the park at 5.00 pm. I was not coughing at every step and so it quite ok for me to get out and bring my poor cat to the park in the evening. He was quite eager to go as well as he immediately walked into this carrier and when we reached the park, he walked out quickly to sniff the grass. I smelled the faint whiff of insecticide but it disappeared when we were at the park itself. I was quite relieved as I know I would have to bring him home if there was insecticide on the grass as Bujang loves to eat grass and it would be dangerous for him.

There was practically no one at the park. I was wondering why until I remembered it was Friday and I was on mc. He walked quite a lot, sniffing at everything and of course sitting and looking at nothing. When it was about 6.00pm I told him we had to walk home. I tugged at his leash gently and to my surprise he got up to walk towards the carrier (or so I thought) . We got up the steps, he walked under the palms towards the carrier and then he made a left turn to go to the void deck. I quickly scooped him up and put him in the carrier before he had any other ideas :))

We got home without incident but we saw Little Calico. She called out when she saw me but as I had nothing to give her, I did not answer and wheeled Bujang straight to the lift. Little calico did not move from where she was. Thank goodness. If I had answered, she would have walked towards me only to be disappointed. anyway later, I went downstairs to feed the Wild Bunch and gave her extra treats :)

CNY surprise

Look at my CNY collar!

Of course everyone has a new CNY collar. I thought I will put Megat and his new collar up before it frays. He has already bitten it and I saw one or two threads going awry. It would be better to put the collars on CNY day itself but as I was putting their tags yesterday I thought it would be just as easy to put their collars on yesterday itself. The collars are made of cloth and about 1/2 inch in width. They rather nice and quite comfortable.

Whah...CHY cookies!

Lets rip it up Toro! Hurry!

Hmm..smells like...

Pineapple tarts...err..rosettes...yum.

Phyllis came to deliver the CNY cookies. I ordered pineapple tarts cos they're my favourite and some kueh baulu for my mom. The tarts taste like chewy pineapple biscuits. They sweet and delicious. I ate several eventhough I have a nasty cough. Grandma ate some and she had all of the kueh baulu. She said we should get some more if Phyllis makes them for Hari Raya.

Phyllis told me she saw Little Calico downstairs and she seems like a nice cat. :) Then she spoke about her 2 calicos and Shadow. Bujang of course welcomed Phyllis at the door like a good host :). The other kitties made a quick disppearing act, only to re-appear at the smell of the cookies. Toro sniffed one very closely and I saw him lick it. I think he would have eaten it if I had allowed him to do so.

The cookies come in nice air-tight, recyclable plastic containers with chinese characters on them. They are very festive indeed.

Ooh my head hurts

Eh san? Didn't go to work huh?

The doc gave me an mc today so I got to rest at home. It was a good thing as I cough everytime I open my mouth to speak and when your work depends on you speaking, then its best to rest. But I didn't get much rest as I can't even walk around the house much without going into another spate of coughing which hurts my head. I didn't go feed the wild bunch yesterdy too because as soon as I came home, I took the meds and then fell alseep. The kitties all came to sit by me and grandma had to feed them their dinner.

I finally managed to get up at about 10.00 pm and had something to eat. I did not let the boys out and Bujang spent the next hour complaining. He was not at all pleased and when I came back into the bedroom. He took it very personally and bit me. Thankfully I had my blanket and so I wrapped him in it to calm him down. Poor Toro got in the way and once I released him, he bit Toro. Aiyoh. So I decided to put him in the bathroom and shut the bifold doors. Aiyoh! Bujang was very strong and actually found a way to open the bifold doors even as I was trying to keep the door from openeing from the other side. I held on to the door for about 15 minutes and listened to him complaining and throwing a tantrum. After some time, he quietened down a bit and I let him out.

He sauntered out as though he had not been the cause of our distress (both Toro's and mine) and got up the bed to groom himself. I got up the bed very warily and slept as far away from him as I could. I can't believe that my cat had 3/4 of my bed!

I had been thinking about it and maybe its because Megat had spent the whole time yesterday sleeping on me and I did not wash his scent off me when I got into bed. Also I had been sick for the whole week after camp and didn't play with the amigos as much as I should have and because of this, they have all this pent up energies to get rid off. I know I did not spend enough time with Bujang himself.

I don't think I have the constitution to walk 8 km to a campsite anymore, in the afternoon sun. It was too stupid.

Breaking camp

A ray of sun is all I need

A soft sofa with pillows will do for me

Sitting with san on a quiet afternoon...yes I like that

I love my grandma...

Wednesday finds the amigo household peaceful and quiet, the way we all like it. I came home from camp, feeling rather sick and with a nasty cough. I was quite thankful to see everybody so predisposed to peace-making :) I must say it was a great feeling to be home with the amigos and I was not even away for so long. It just feels that way when its camp.

Watch the birdie

First there was one.

Then there was another.

Whats up eh?

How much are the birdies on the branch grandma?

A little excietmeent broke up the amigo household this afternoon. Both ms akira and Toro actually raced to the door and sat at attention. I wondered what was up and looke dout just in time to see 2 little birdies perching on grandma's plants. They are green with a hint of yellow. Both cats just stared out, transfixed but did not chatter. Toro did not dare to sit closer to the grills as Ms Akira was there first. If it was Bujang, Toro would not be so afraid to take the next step. :) He did try to make a move but Ms Akira just turned to stare at him and he changed his mind. Hahaha.

Time out

Yup. I can see everything so much better from here.

No one dares to come near me here.

ZZZzzz...better than the carpark for sure.

I just came back from an overnight camp and decided to spend some time with the amigos. When I got home, Megat was alreday out of the cage. Grandma decided to let him alone as he was sitting quietly in his green carrier in the bedroom. As long as Megat did not beat up the kitties or try to get into her kitchen cabinets, grandma is quite willing to let him roam freely.

I wanted to rest for a bit before doing anything as I had a great horrid sunburn from walking 8km to the campsite under the sun! But as soon as I rested, Shaolin megat came to sit with me and decided that sitting on me was preferable to sitting beside me. I did not have the heart to push him away and so he sat, napped, yawned and slept on me for about 1.5 hours. Finally I had to push him off and of course he sat close to me for the other 30 minutes! He finally fell asleep by himself and I was able to get something to eat from the kitchen. But of course this did not last long :)
