Nostalgia II

As I was going through the cupboards in a vain attempt to spring clean before Hari Raya, I found some pics of Bujang when he was little and so I decided to put it up just for fun. It's always good to see your pets from when they're young and see how much they have grown. Of course Bujang went from hardly 250 g to 7 kg!

These series of pictures were taken when he was 6 to 7 weeks old. The first one where he was in the black cage was taken 4 days after I brought him home and it was the day he came home from the vet. She said to get him to eat either iams, nutro, solid gold or science diet as she knew I was going to take care of him. She told him its better to have good nutrition from the very beginning if he was going to be an indoor cat. Bujang has been eating nutro to the total exclusion of any other kibble. He hates the taste of anything else and because he eats nutro, all the other kitties follow suit.

I remembered he spent a good proportion of his younger days sleeping. Have cushion will sleep seems to be his motto then and now. :)

He's my brudder even if he doesn't know it :)

Bujang was very naughty yesterday or maybe because it's my fault. I decided to bring Ms Akira's night cage into the room so she could sleep with the boys and still be protected. But Bujang had other ideas and I should have learnt this lesson that Bujang had tried to teach me many times. "Do not bring any more cats into the bedroom without asking his permission". I thought he would not mind as Ms Akira is his bud but not so. After 20 minutes or so of tolerating the intrusion, he jumped onto the bed and bit me. So I decided to make him get off the bed. I put him on the floor. Before I can say "OUCH!" Bujang sprang up and gave me one of his scary stares and got ready to launch another attack. He even bit my feet under the blankets. So as a last resort, I got up and bundled him into the orange canvas house that I had bought some time ago and zipped up the flap. Oh..he was so furious and he spent some time tearing at the lining of the canvas on and on and on...

Toro, bless his warm heart, first decided to lord it over Bujang and lazed in front of the zipped house. He even took a sniff at Bujang who was furiously tearing at the lining. Then he actually got up and started to sniff at the bag really closely and bit it. He tried to scratch the bag and went around several time to see if he could spring Bujang out. After some minutes of trying, he realised that it was useless and went up the bed to get some shut-eye.

I wheeled Ms Akira out of the room and left Bujang to rest and relax for some time with the lights off. I played some soft music from the Mahabharata to get everyone to relax. After some time Bujang sat quietly in the house. I released him after I was sure he was not angry anymore and that he had cooled down. He came out and had something to drink after which he sat near me and went to sleep. WOAHH!

This is the orange canvas house that I had orinally bought to house Toro when he first came. Once the flap is zipped up, its pretty secure and there is nothing a cat can do to escape from it. Toro sometimes sits in here when we play with da Bird. He waits and when he sees the lure, he would run out to ambush it.

Fatboy and me

Fb likes to follow me when I am feeding the calico mom. He usually begs me for something more to eat or he would just hang out and irritate her. Here FB decided that he would sit on the stone chairs instead to converse with me about his day. Then when I wanted to go home, he decided that I should visit for a while longer and stood guard in case I decide to run :)

I have to tell the old aunty that I may not be able to feed the cats for 2 whole weeks as I am going to Texas for a conference. That means I will not be able to feed them for 4 days. I wonder what will happen? I also need to get a cat minder for the amigos as grandma is not so strong to take care of them by herself. Hmmmm...

Monster in the house!

No I am not afraid.

I have sharp teeth and no monster can scare me. No Sir!

Do you really think I care?

Together we will fight to our last breath!

Today the air-con guys came to service my air-con units. I had been using the air-con because of the haze and I had to sleep with all my windows shut. It got really stuffy and the unit was creating more problems for me than it was worth so I decided to call the guys to the house to look at all the units. Of cos the amigos all behaved in their own inimitable way to deal with strangers in the house bearing noisy gadgets.

Bujang took everything in his stride. he gazed at the guys calmly and sat under the bed, the better to watch the proceedings. Then he migrated to the table so he could be far away from all the activity and still be able to watch their every move. The air-con guys came to pet him and he actually allowed them to touch him without batting an eyelid nor hold up his paws in warning. "He is very nice cat," they said. I guess Bujang is used to people as he was socialised from very young.

Toro and Akira on the other hand acted as though their very lives were in peril and Ms Akira actually jumped on top of the fridge, which freaked out grandma. She was afraid Ms Akira would fall off and be fried! So intrepid grandma captured her and put her in the bathroom and closed the door firmly behind her. Toro was caught quite nicely, before he decided to make a run for it and put in Ms Akira's night cage, where he promptly sat calmly. I guess he knew nothing could harm him when he was in there :)

After the guys left, both Ms Akira and Toro were released and they prompty ran to hide under grandma's bed together! I would never have believed it if I had not seen it myself. The guys left at about 4.30 but the 2 scaredy-cats came out from under the bed at about 6.00 pm! No traets could entice them from getting out any sooner. poor kitties. Once they came out, I gave everyone a treat and they were quite happy then to investigate every nook and corner of the house - to see that the monsters had actually left the premises. :)

Feeding cats in the rain

This was what it looked like at about 745 tonight when I went to feed the kitties downstairs. It rained very heavily and although I was glad that it rained as the haze was getting to me, I was sad for the kitties as they were cold. The rain came into the void deck and poor FatBoy had to move about several times with me following after him as he was afraid of the sounds of the rain coupled with noisy children running helter-skelter under umbrellas. I wanted to yell at the kids for scaring FB but I thought the better of it as I did not want them to have any ill feelings towards him as he is very friendly.

I got to feed all the 4 kitties, much to my relief as it was very wet out and I was afraid that they would be cold and hungry at the same time. They all ate much more than usual, which was a good thing. In these series of pictures, FB is first, then the calico mom (2nd tier) with Screaming Banshee and finally the Calico kitty. They all looked quite contented after several cans of food. Even Screaming banshee had seconds as he was not finished with his meal by the time I had fed the Calico mom. FB ate his food in between the bicycles as he felt more secure there. I fed the calico kitty twice as she ate only a little the first round and as she is the most friendly of the kitties, I felt that she needed more food so she would not go around asking for more from anyone else. The second time round, she asked for scritches which I gave her and she ate much more food. I think they would all be able to sleep well as they would not be hungry in the rain.

Something strange is afoot!

The box again...and again..I wonder what she sees through it?

Hmmm...maybe if I am under the table, the box won't follow me there....

Ahhhhhzzzzz.....I got Bujang's hiding place. Hmm..its not bad.
Toro decided to oust Bujang from his space and spent the evening sleeping in it. Bujang did not retaliate though and slept in his hanging basket.

The amigos were behaving very strangely last night. Ms Akira spent a large part of the night whining and refused to sleep eventhough grandma took her out of her night cage and brought her to bed. Toro spent the whole of this afternoon complaining eventhough we had played with Da Bird and he spent a greaa deal of time doing cartwheels. I think the only one who behaved normally was Bujang who spent the whole afternoon on my freshly laundered sheets :)

Our package is here!

I sent for another jacket for Akira - a purple one and it came today. The boys were not interested in it as it didn't have bells or feathers. However Ms Akira was very interested as always and so I got her to try her purple jacket. It suited her very well and so now all of them have their own jackets which is better as there is no need to share. As she is also very jittery, I think this would be more secure than her blue harness. I orderd the jacket on the 16th of September and it came in the post today, so that is not bad really. I also ordred a large one for Bujang as I'm sure he would grow much bigger when he's older.

Party Planner with Toro TunaBelly

David Turtura from party planner fame would be quite pleased with Toro TunaBelly's efforts at creating a centre of activity for the cats to play in. But it is grandma's great worry that Toro may grow up to be a juvenile delinquent. He is the one who is always trying to position the cat fountain in a more asthetic space, like the middle the doorway to the kitchen. He could usually be heard dragging the fountain here and there until it is in his favourite space.

Toro Tunabelly taking a time-out after all that hard work at rearranging the furiture.

The last picture is usually how grandma positions the cat fountain, away from the trafiic and easyfor anyone who would like a drink of water.

Gotcha Day 6th October for Bujang

Bujang showing his ample profile after donning his new collar to celebrate his Gotcha day. It a nice green one with beads sewn on it in geometric patterns. He took it in his stride and sat calmly as I took his picture. Bujang takes most things calmly except when it comes to grooming. He takes a great deal of exception to that operation.

The first thing I did when I came into the house is to put the collar on him and of course gave him some cattyman bream. But I had to take his collar off as it has no room for a tag and I was afraid he might swallow the beads if he should decide to bite his collar off. But it was a good picture opportunity nevertheless.

Celebratory Dinner

Ohh..stinking goodness plus treats..yummy

I decided that the amigos should have something special in their dinner bowls to celebrate the day and so had put some treats in all the bowls. Bujang had more of course because it was his Gotcha Day. Ms Akira's day is in July and Toro in May (I think) I have to read the blogs to see on what day Toro came to live with us exactly. But it seems to me Toro had been with us forever, like the rest of the kitties but I know I adopted him early this year and we had such a time trying to encourage him to go to the litter-bin. Of course Bujang taught him his toilet etiquette better than I did. Now Toro is very good at doing his toilette and sometimes takes care of the other kitties' messes too.

Ohhh...more treats

Ohhh..yes more treats please

Ohh... can we have more treats just because we like them?
