Bujang now. He lost 1.6 kg in a matter of 6 months this year. He is now 6.4 kg in July. I was very shocked as it's a big deal for a cat to lose so much so quickly. The vet had prescribed him food for CRF which was low in proteins but it also had corn in it. I took him off that and gave him his usual food but he gets tcm for kidneys as well as some other herbal supplements. His kidney values although not ideal, has stabilised and he has put on a little weight. Since his kidney values are on the high side of normal I was not too concerned with his phosphorus which is at 4.2.
Bujang one year ago at 7.6 kg.
Does your vet think this is cause for concern, or that this is in fact a better weight for him? Over 7 kilos sounds like a lot!
ReplyDeleteNo. It is better that he loses weight. I was concerned that he lost over 1 kg in 6 months but the vet showed no concern. The vet knows that he is a ckd kitty and since he is 14, I know losing more weight would not be the best thing as ckd kitties lose muscle very easily. It is very difficult to make up that muscle once they lose it.
