otak-otak in coconut leaves
otak-otak from a food blog
A great picnic food is called otak-otak and it is either fish or prawn in spiced dessicated coconut. It is then wrapped in banana leaves or coconut leaves and put on the barbeque or grandma puts them on the grill. You can eat many in a minute. san usually eats about 3 in a minute (she is greedy). It is easy to carry in foil and weigh nothing at all. It smells fragrant from the lemongrass.
San sometimes buys ready-made ones in the market at Geylang Serai, the place that sells mostly food and spices for Malays in Singapore. There is a special stall that sells them in the morning and she eats them with hot rice. Yum.
That looks delicious, Bujang! We know that Singapore is famous for all kinds of yummy foods!
