Last post for 2016

 

We would like to thank 2016 for our friends here as well as on FB. Even though 2016 had not been a good year for the world in general we are thankful that our health is better and grandma and san are well. We are even thankful for our new brother Rezki although I wish he was not so intense and naughty. 

 

Today I went for a ride in the park. I am thankful that we had nice weather and I got to sit in the park with san for some  time. 

 

I am thankful that I get to sit with my new family everyday. San says if I can keep this calmness up, I can be outside for longer hours. 

 

I am thankful that san has allowed me to sit and just relax this whole year. But I heard from Fern that she was going to make me walk more. I told san that my body is well but she thinks I would be healthier if I move more. Although I am thankful that I am so much braver this year, I fear that my life will be totally tuned upside down by san in 2017. 

 

I am thankful that san has managed to help me with the itch on my face. I know that she looks at me closely everyday to see if the itch was getting worse. I am thankful that I didn't need the steroids. I hope this will still be the case next year. 

 

All of us here wish all of you a good new year tomorrow. Thank you for being our friends.

Our New Banner

Bujang: We decided to unveil our new banner with Ninja Rezki today. San said we should call him Ninja as our home name but Rezki at the vets so it would not confuse the vets. But I told san it would not be fair as not all of us have 2 names. San said not true as Popps is Popsicle Poppy, Tanaka is Rocket Tanaka, Akira is Ms Akira and Adrian, my osteopath, calls me  Chairman Bujang. So I said ok. We will call him Ninja Rezki as he is always trying to 'ninja' us with his lightning slaps and kicks.

san also took a picture of ALL of our stuffed toys that we bring with us to the vets or at any time that we have to go to our appointments. The donkey is Ninja, The bear is The Chairman, The Grey Kitty is Rocket (used to be Totoro's), the ginger kitty is Ms Akira and the doggie is Poppsy (used to be Megat's). They are all using collars that belong to each of us. 

Which leaves me to end my post for today. We hope this cheery post will be the beginning of many more cheery ones. A blessed Christmas to all.

2 ladies at the vet

 

Akira went to the vet on Monday for her end-of-year checkup. My concern was her high  calcium values from June this year. She also had an ultra sound but the vet could not find anything abnormal with her organs. Since she has been eating more and drinking more, I also had the vet do a test for herT4 for hyperthyroidism. The test showed that she is as healthy as can be and she  has  no problems with hyperthyroid or kidneys or even liver. She did have very high values  for AMYL but the vet said this was not a problem in cats. Dr Oh however wanted to remain cautious and had given her some additional herbs for that. She is also 5.7 kg from 5.6. 

 

Poppy did very well and did not make a fuss at the vet although she yelled in the lift going to the vet. Her kidney showed improvement at 2.4 from June's 2.6. So she is within the normal  although a little high range. She has put on only 50g and is now 4.65kg. We were all estactic as she is doing reallly well. She didn't need any steroids for her face although Dr Oh had recommended us something for herpes just for us to see if she actually has feline herpes or not. So I will get that by the end of the week. 

I'm so sleepy but ...

Before his vet appointment he had an acupuncture treatment. Here he was trying his best to keep his eyes open. Dr Oh, his acupuncturist was playing a very slow Chinese song which finally lulled him to sleep. (I don't know why there is no sound to the video though.)

His test and urinalysis was good. The vet said his urine test was good considering he has been stage 2 for crf for 2 years. It's as though he has never had kidney disease. So we are  glad since he doesn't have to take fortekor, which is actually also for excess protein in the body.  His numbers for his CREA had dropped from 2.8 to 2.6. The vet said his liver functions are good overall except for the GGT which went from 0 U/L to 5 U/L which may indicate some imbalance in his liver functions. So we will ask Dr Oh to help us with that. All in all an excellent set of results. :))

These few days Akira asks to go out walking after Bujang. Since I am on a term break I take Bujang out along the corridor every morning after his breakfast. Akira is not used to walking outside but she very bravely does it ...although maybe walking is not the right word for what she does. Adrian has requested that she loses some weight although she does not eat a lot. I think more to the point, she does not like doing anything else other than sitting and napping under the blankets. She is rather rotund.

We have decided to allow san to adopt Rezki. We know it will be tough but we think he is a good cat.

He loves his soft blanket. He sleeps very well on it and doesn't even open an eye when I walk about at night although I notice his ears twitching a bit.
