Its good fur my claws...
This is the first time that Bujang had tried to train his claws on a tree. This happened yesterday and this evening he trained his claws on another tree in this same square of grass. The tree was the one that the pigeons like to rest on. I guess he was just leaving them a message.
Note to Autumn
This is a note for Autumn. I couldn't find the note that you had posted on my blog and as you said you had bought one and whether the pictures were posed or not, I assumed that you wanted to ask about Bujang and his walking jacket. I trained Bujang to walk with a small dog harness when he was about 6 months and it took me a whole month before he was comfortable walking on grass. It was after he was able to walk quite comfortably that I got him his walking jacket. I hope this note is helpful.

Courting pigeons
These pigeons actually ignored Bujang, especially the one that was cooing and posturing. its a pity the coos cannot be heard but he was very enthusiastic.

Ms Akira on Sunday
Just grooming in the morning...
Ms akira is getting much bolder these days. I think its the Bach 6 and the fact that both grandma and I have been very conscientiously putting the 3 boys in the room for an hour a day so she can walk out calmly. Sometimes she asks to be let out and then I would have to make sure the boys are in the room. I am glad that she asks to be out everyday and when she has had enough, she would go back into her room. Then we let the boys out. I don't think its a great hardship for the boys as they have the whole house to themselves all day.
I am also giving her omega 3 from flaxseed oil for her bare tummy and over-grooming on alternate days. Megat gets some too as Dr l said it was ok for him. She doesn't like the flaxseed as it is a little bitter. Maybe I would mix it with a little honey for the Ms.

Our new BIG scratcher
We bought this rug last year for Hari Raya. from IKEA Its rather scratchy to sit on for beans but the amigos simply love sitting on it, sleeping on it and sometimes scratching it. Megat simply loves rolling over and over on it. It does catch a lot of dust and needs vacuuming everyday. Thank goodness Sister S bought us a hand-held cyclone dust buster .
Grandma has trouble with our grass mats and so we do not put the mats here anymore. I think we would need another one so this can be sent to the laundry soon.

I am grown up...
Tanaka's face has taken on a more adult look. The roundness is gone and he has grown leaner and much lighter. Sister S carried him the last time she was here and was surprised at how light he was at 4.5 kg instead of 4.8 kg. He is also not so greedy and prefers to play or nap rather than eat sometimes. He has grown into our little tiger indeed.
Don't Wake 2 Sleeping Tigers
It was a hot day yesterday and the 2 boys decided that napping the afternoon away next to an open window was the best solution. Tanaka has outgrown this cat seat and so has the rest of the boys but all of them (except MMegat) like sitting on it. I have yet to find something with a larger seat that would accommodate their size. I wonder where in Singapore I would be able to get one with ample seating.

MMegat after his meds yesterday...
We gave MMegat his meds last night and of course I tried to push the suppository downwards as Dr L had shown me. It was incredibly easier this time and although I suspected that it did not go in as much as I wanted, MMegat did not immediately rush to the litter to poop it out. Incredible! I spent the time brushing his fur and he sat quietly throughout it all. After 40 minutes of constant attention, I let him go and he just made his way to the cat-it and immediately came back to rest beside me.
It was only these last 2 weeks that MMegat had been up in arms about the suppository. Previously he had just waited beside me while I brush him or he just sat next to me calmly. There will be no suppository today, just his meds so maybe he would have forgotten about it by tomorrow. I am just giving him his suppository on alternate days and he has a rest day, free from meds on Saturday.

Year of the Tiger
The Tiger is said to be lively and engaging with incredible bravery and willingness to engage in battle. Maybe he is so brave because he is lucky. The Chinese say a tiger in the house is the best protection against the evils of fire and burglary.
Tanaka: Yes. I fink they are talking about me. I am lucky and furry brave to battle all the strangers that have come to our house. I make sure I supervise effuryone when they are repairing fings and I also help san and grandma to do the washing and clean the sheets. I am the lucky Tiger here...MROOOAAAARRR....

Walks with Bujang
This is Bujang at the ixora park .I brought him here on Sunday as Minah was standing guard over her turf...
This is Bujang's perpetual expression when he hears something. I wonder if his eyes hurt since he opens them so widely all the time...
I thought Bujang would like the ixora park last Sunday but I was wrong. He kept meowing and looking at me as though asking me why I had brought him there. I told him that Minah was on the prowl and it would be rude of us to disturb her peace on Sunday but he would take nothing for an answer. Admittedly the park was quiet and there was not much grass that he could eat as all of them had been mowed down quite short and there were no birds to run after. I felt rather sorry for Bujang but at least he got some exercise.

This evening he was so much happier as he could stalk the pigeons and run after them. He was chattering away and I could see that he was very excited. He ate from his favourite grass patch and hid under his favorite bushes. He did not protest like he did last Sunday and I was glad he could walk wherever he wanted until Major Domo Minah came to tell us to keep our walk short :) Bujang had only 30 minutes downstairs but he was contented and did not yell or complain for the rest of the evening :)
Minah on Monday
It was a surprise to me that she actually pooed infront of Bujang's carrier. I gues she is telling us off...
Queen of all she surveys...
Minah sneaked up on us this evening when I brought Bujang down for his walk. It was actually too hot for walking but I remembered reading that I should have some one on one time with all of the kitties everyday and since Bujang loves the downstairs, I felt that it was only right he should get his walk.
I kept an eye out for Minah as I did not want her too stressed out when she sees Bujang but Minah took it all rather well. She sat, relaxed in front of the pillars and watched our progress for a bit and then she decided to greet us. Bujang was quite surprised at her boldness and he was very wary. When he started growling deeply, I decided it was time to take him away from Minah.
Indeed Minah was very confident of her territory and walked up and down the grass patch boldly and without fear. I was very glad to see this as I know from her confidence that she had not been bullied or scared by anyone around here. She deserves a good peaceful life as she has been living in this void deck close to 5 or 6 years already.

Megat the Miracle Cat
What can I say?
Dr L saw him and could not believe he is 14 years old this year. "This cat will live for 3 to 4 years!" he sang. He took one look at Megat and smiled widely. "This is the cancer cat who is doing very well," he told the trainee vet, who was busy typing his words into the computer. He gave Megat the once over and admired his coat. "Coat beautiful, eyes bright, weight good, not dehydrated and gums red. A good colour!" He also listened to Megat's heartbeat.
He then told the trainee vet - Review : RECOVERED! WOAHHHHHH!!! All of us smiled broadly when he said the words. He told me that we should just see him 6 times per year and so that makes it every 2 months! he then told the trainee vet what we had done for MMegat(Miracle Megat) and told me that I should continue with his supplements as it is working very well for MMegat.
He was surprised that I still give Megat one suppository a day. "That's expensive!" I totally agree. I guess now I can give him the suppository on alternate days with the liquid sang hwang in between. This would mean MMegat will not be so upset with the suppository for a whole week but just 3 days in the week. He would have to eat the liquid version on all the other days so his system would still be fortified.
I asked Dr L to put in the suppository so I would not have to fight with him. In no tie at all, it slipped in with MMegat not seeming to notice. HUH! I said out loud. Dr L then told me that I should push the suppository downwards and not straight as I have always done. AIYAHHH!
I must say that he looks the best among the 5 kitties and when I told Dr L this, he laughed and said "Of course. He gets sang hwang everyday!"
I must say I am _so relieved_ to see RECOVERED in his record and card. There is nothing better for a cat bean I think and for the cat of course.
BTW I read a pamphlet at the vet's about ANIMAL TALK (versus BODY TALK). It seems this therapy may help cats and dogs with a lot of problems and especially with over grooming. I also spoke to the practitioner who was actually in the same room as Dr L when he was examining MMegat. Dr L said that it worked for his pet who was overgrooming rather badly. She said (the practitioner) that she would be able to help me with Ms Akira's nervous problems and so I might give her a call one of these days. I will see what happens first with the omega 3 that she is taking from flaxseed oil instead of salmon oil. It tastes a little bitter and although she hates it, she does not run away when I give it to her. We will see...

To the Vet
Megat will see Dr L tomorrow for his review. He is eating well and playing with all the boys. I gave him his weekly sub-q today as I didn't want him too stressed out tomorrow. He is getting very stubborn with the suppositories and for the last week had been tightening his muscles and yelling even before I could put them in. After the whole operation is over and even after me cuddling him for half and hour, he would make his way deliberately to the litter and out the sang hwang would go, although not in its entirety as some of it would have been absorbed into his system. Maybe I would get Dr L to put the suppository in for him tomorrow and then he would have to wait until we get home to use the litter (I hope). I would have to bring some liners tomorrow too just in case.
I hope it would still be good news for us but I guess you will never know for sure.

That smells good grandma
Maybe it was because he liked the smell of 'jemput-jemput' (banana cakes) that grandma was eating...
Slow Thursday
Finally the boys decided it was time for some R&R after some harrowing jumps up and down the coffee table, leaping over coffee cups and water bowls. Bujang, who was the ringleader, decided to take a break to hang out with grandma and Tanaka thought the checkered sofa cover showed off his colours rather well. Toro, as usual sat beside me, as though reminding me that he would be the one who would stick by me when the work piles up :)

Sleepy Sunday
Goodnight...
My sister and nephew slept over during the weekend ad so Toro didn't get out of the room at all for the two days. He is not afraid of my sister as she comes over often but the sudden movements of my nephew made him nervous. However Ms Akira came out several times to be with him (with the boys sequested in the room by their own choice). Now that there is just us in the house, he decided to come out and is now sitting infront of the front door enjoying the breeze and the rest of Sleepy Sunday.
Sunday Morning Walk
Minah was still on guard this morning when I brought Bujang for his walk. Bujang made a lot of noise so at about 8.10 am we were already out. I had to bring him to a new place when Minah was still distracted and so brought him across the block. This new grass patch is not as interesting as it is well-moved and very neatly kept as there is a school adjacent to it. He watched some pigeons but made no attempt to run after them. I guess these were strange pigeons :)
He kept close to the columns as this was a new place and didn't like the open spaces too much. This is actually FatBoy's territory and so I was looking out for him. I saw him at the carpark but he made no attempt to say hello, for which I was grateful as Bujang then had a chance to walk about a bit.
