Tanaka went out with the boys this morning to celebrate the last day of 2007. The video is rather blurry as its from my hp. I hope you guys can see him running for his life :) The last day of the year! I really have to keep track of my time!

When san came back yesterday, it was furry furry late. Grandma put us to bed but I heard san at the door. So I asked (errr...yelled..ok yelled) loudly until she let us out. san smelled funny so I came near hur and hmmm....what is this?

I think I have to get her to buy us more yummy things to eat. Its not fair she eats these things and we eat dry biscuit! Hurmphhhh..

Quiet Time with The Rocket...

Rocket Tanaka loves his food. He goes crazy when he sees the mat as he knows that it means he would get some good stuff to eat. He is growing to be a really big boy. Here he is wearing the collar that Santa sent us. It fits him comfortably and the bling shows off his colour very well. He is now used to his collar and so I let him sleep with it on, like every other cat in the amigo house.

Ms Akira has commandeered new premises for herself. I am glad to say she has not vomitted anymore apart from the one incident last week but we are keeping an eye on her. She is more sociable after the Bach Flowers and would actually come out of her sanctuary to mingle with the family (from a safe distance) but still she will make the decision to be in the living room when everyone is out. If Tanaka is out, she will be on top of her cage...away from the craziness :)

Rocket Tanaka exhausts almost everyone with his sudden ambushes. He is getting used to resting by himself (outside his cage) these days but he still needs help in this. The boys like playing with him although he loves to play with Megat most of all. I am afraid it may be too much for Megat as he sometimes gets into a short coughing fit after all that running. On a better note (for Megat) he is getting into the swing of playing by himself, running after the styrofoam ball and kicking it about. :)

Adoption - not yet

Never mind...the world is vast. I only hope for someone to love me. No need for A+ food and accomodation although THAT would be nice...

Tanaka's adoption Hope #01 will not go through. I had asked one of my friends who has 2 cats if she would adopt him. She told me once that her children were keen for the family to adopt another cat. However she worried that her senior cat Siren (now about 10) would be upset and the other cat Cho (now 5) would not be pleased. It seemed that Siren was quite upset when the family brought Cho into the house. She tried to find another family to adopt Tanaka but the mother in that family was not willing to do that. So I guess Tanaka will stay with us for a bit.

Cousin R was telling me that there might be another family that might adopt him. It seemed that Family X has an adult male cat who is very fierce and so they felt it would not be good for both the cats. Then it seemed a few weeks ago, a little cat adopted the family. They actually found the cat in front of their doorstep (a victim of abandonement?) and took him in. But he was sick so they sent him to the vet. It seemed that the little kitty was suffering from anaemia. After a week, the vet told them it was okie to bring the little guy home. Their older cat (to their surprise) did not protest! But then disaster struck and they woke up one morning to find the kitty dead and foaming at the mouth!!! They did not take the cat to the vet to see what had happened though. We guessed something else must be wrong with the kitty apart from the anaemia. :(

Cousin R said she would ask the family if they would consider Tanaka. Grandma worries about the foaming at the mouth episode but I do not think its the family's fault as they have a healthy adult cat in their house. We are now waiting for some news.

But I guess if there is none, I would post again at the cws site after all the festivities are over.

The culprit - doing his own thing...

I do not know if it was jealousy or merely convenience. I suspect its convenience and a short-cut more than anything else. While I was cuddling Tanaka after his supper, I heard Bujang messing about in the litter-bin in the kitchen. Scratch! Scratch! Then I saw him making a beeline for us, then he swerved a little to avoid me and went right into Tanaka's cage. He sniffed about a little and to my surprise, he began to scratch in the litter tin. Tanaka and I watched him in fascination. He had done this before for size but he had never tried to use it!

Bujang adjusted his position, tucked himself tightly and then we heard it "shhhhhhhhhhh..." After he finished, he turned around, sniffed for a bit and covered his tracks!

I do not know what had gotten into him. We have 3 adult litter bins. 1 in the kitchen (which Akira uses) and 2 in the bathroom (which the boys including the Rocket uses). Bujang sometimes uses the one in the kitchen too.

I think Bujang was just being a cat - find the road of least inconvenience and get the business done. :))

The amigos on sleepy sunday...an Update

I do not like being bullied by the squirt! tell him to leave me alone.

Megat likes Tanaka but I guess The Rocket can be quite a handful. He jumps on him, ambushes him from corners, pummel him with his hind legs and sometimes pull him about by his collar. However Megat would look for Tanaka to play with him so I guess Megat does not mind it...sometimes. I have to rescue Megat sometimes as Tanaka is very boisterous and once Megat was coughing from all the activity. So we always watch them when these 2 are playing.

Tanaka learnt that in the amigo house, a cat must rest sometimes...

If not he goes back into the cage for time-out. :) Tanaka has been learning the art of resting from every one of the kitties and I notice that more and more, he does take the time to stop..but only for a minute. If he does not, then I would catch him and make him stop for a bit. He has also learnt to keep still when someone is holding him, sometimes for 1o minutes at a stretch. For a little kitty, this is quite admirable.

No more meds! No more meds!

Ms Akira is not getting used to the routine of taking both her meds with good grace. She hacks and tries to spit the liquid and has to be tricked :)) into taking her pills. I am sorry to say this morning, she threw up a soild mass of dry food :(. But she takes her canned food very well. We will have to see how the rest of the days will go. But after her meds, she still talks to me so at least I am not her mortal enemy...yet.

Only Grandma loves me...

I think Bujang feels left out of the whole kitty and meds business. I could see the surprise in his round eyes when he watched Cousin R or grandma and I feeding Toro with the feeding tubes. So we have been making a great fuss of him and hide-and-seek is the favourite game in our household now, except only Bujang and I know how to play this game. Toro usually would give my position away to Bujang so I always lose, much to Bujang's delight. I know we can stop the game when he wins at least 2 out of 3 times. :)

Some day all this will be over...but when?

Toro has gone through the rest of his Falamin without incident. He takes his fluids obediently or at least without a great deal of struggling and is now on canned food + hot water for 1 1/2 days already. He does not like Fussiecat Tuna and Chicken with water. He simply refused to eat it. However, at dinner last night, he actually ate Tanaka's Natural Balance Tuna + water, much to Tanaka's very loud disgust :) So today he had both his meals with Tanaka. I hope in this way, he gets all the water he needs as he also drinks from the 2 CATITs that we have.

I tried to put water in all the amigos bowls - Ms Akira would eat it, Megat licks up his food slowly (he doesn't like it with water) and Bujang would just lick all the water and eat a little of his food!! At least everyone would get a little more water, no matter what. :)

Toro made us all very proud tonight as he finally jumped onto the cat tree all by himself. I had been putting him on this tree for some time so he could see the goings on through the window as he likes watching the corridor. He got up and looked outside for a whole hour before he got tired of it and decided to nap. :)
