Interlude

Toro finally came out into the living room. He got scared of the vacuum cleaner and the strange sounds of frenetic cleaning. HE ambled out, took one look around, posed prettily under the red pail and went back to the safety of the wash basin.

Let's play a little

C'mon...get out already!

I see you want to get rough!

Eh? Where did that bugger go?

Ohhh...I am so tired...yawn...

Grandma gave Bujang some tied-up raffia as a reward for helping us clean house. Also this distracted him from wanting to help us change the cushion covers...:) Bujang chased the bit of raffia up and down and all around. He even panted a few times. I think this was the most energy he expanded all these weeks with the haze.

Aftermath

Oh I am soo tired....let me rest on this new rug...I deserve it.

Bujang finally decided to rest his very tired self. Thanks for helping me clean up eh Bujang. I knew you would rise to the occasion. :)

Lets sleeping cats lie

Toro decided to sit with me this morning as I blog about him- the better to give me inspiration I guess. he is the only cat in the room with me as Bujang is relaxing outside, sleeping on top of Ms Akira's night cage. Akira is in the room looking at the cars outside. I think even if she doesn't like going outside to the park or anything, she misses being in the corridor.
Toro showing me another angle of his sweet self.

Too close...

A little support goes a long way.

Hari Raya Decorations for my Litter Box?

Hmmm..I really don't know...it feels like err..plastic. Plastic is like so yesterday...

Grandma decided that we should spruce up the amigos mats for the litter bin with this rose patterened plastic. I usually put their bin on thick rugs so I can clean up the litter from all that tracking more easily. This plastic sheet began life as the washing machine cover but Bujang decided to chew the top off and now it has a new role to play.

Hmm..ok..it feels soft and I like the smell of the patterns...yah ok...do it..

Ms Akira is a very thorough inspector of the house decorations for Hari Raya. She wants to have a say in almost everything. :)

Climbing mountains

Toro once again trying to climb onto the top of the bookcase. He has tried to do this several times as he has seen Akira jumping over him onto the case and Bujang jumping from his shelf onto it also. Toro is very curious and wants to go everywhere the other kitties go. But his short legs or maybe his confidence prevents him from going up so Ms Akira is still safe from being badgered.

Hmmm...maybe there is something I can use to help me....

I'll get you yet..you ...you..!

I am just pretending san..you know I don't really want to do it today. Tomorrow maybe...

Toro giving up after complaining about the bookcase and cleans his paws to calm down. The frogs are still dismembered as I can't get a replacement from Spotlight yet. They've run out of frogs. After dismembering the legs, Bujang has since lost interest in them.

Cat news

I went to the Pet store today for catfood and met M. I had adopted Toro from her and my cousin had adopted the 2 cute kittens last month. She told me that her friend found an abandonee who looks just like Toro and about 1 year old. Toro is now 17 months.

I was surprised that anyone would abandon such a pretty cat but M says its the festive season and many people abandon their cats, dogs and rabbits when they clean their house!! She also said it was a fortunate thing that her friend saw the cat (her friend is actually afraid of cats) and alerted her straightaway. Imagine it if some cat hater sees him and decides to hurt him!

I have a friend wjo is allergic to cats but she decided that she would take some anti-histimines before coming to my house so she would not be affected by it so much. I think she knows that there is no way I would abandon the amigos for anyone. I just think that guests have to take precautions if they want to come or at least you can put your cats in a room until the guests leave. I can't understand people who put out their pets with their furniture.

On a better note, we have not seen the boys who went around trying to catch FatBoy for some days. In fact, the blocks have been quiet except for the usual suspects. It is the fasting month and there are many people going about at about 7 to 8 for prayers so this might be a deterrent.
I think if I see some boys, I would just ask them to keep an eye out for FatBoy to keep him safe. I think the more you talk about the cats to people who sit at void decks, the more people would understand and help keep watch. It is also important to smile at people as you feed the cats so people won't think you're up to no good. I am not a smiler really but I now smile widely to anyone who walks about as I am feeding the kitties. I have seen people looking at me strangely as I talk to the kitties also. But they usually smile back.

Calico Mom would be safe I think as I had seen her hiding in some bushes well away from people traffic. Little Calico usually sleeps in the drain very quietly unless she sees me and Screaming Banshee just hides out in the carpark. The people in my block are very fond of Little Calico as she is friendly and pretty. It is only FatBoy who walks around asking for food. I really don't know how he can eat so much and still be hungry.

My job is done

Having bitten my clothes, Bujang had a nap followed by Toro :)

Oh I lurve wool...

No! You can't have the clothes. If you dare touch them, I will bite them.

Bujang was wallowing in the clothes that I needed to take with me. Some light woollen things to Texas. I went to the net and it says 12 to 24 degrees. So that is not so cold I guess. Its supposed to be the best season to visit San Antonio, a tourist city where the Alamo is. I wanted to get the clothes to the laundrette tomorrow just in time for the trip. But Bujang had other ideas.

And bite them he did.

I was afraid he would use his claws and unravel all the wool so I didn't pull the sweater away. I just let him hang out on the woollen clothes for a bit until he got distracted.

Bujang scratching an itch

I immediately carried him off my clothes and put them away. Having nothing else to bite, he got fed up and walked out. :))

Some ups and downs

members.tripod.com/~bo63/cats1.html

I went to the wednesday feeding duty and feed the 4 cats. The good thing is Screaming Banshee (the gif looks exactly like her/him) is no more afraid of me nor does he/she think that I am after his/her body and soul. He/she sat patiently (as much as he'she could) and lead the way to where I should put the bowl of salmon dinner + kibble. This means I would be able to put the frontline on her (generic her I'm afraid as I still do not know her gender) without being scratched and she may be persuaded to get into the carrier to be sent to the vet for neutering soon.
I was feeding FatBoy endless bowls of fish+jelly when I heard stomping and high-pitched laughter, coupled with meows. I knew that the culprit would appear any time soon and so we both waited. It was a good thing Fatboy was not so hungry then, having eaten 400g of sardines. Then out from behind the pillars, I saw alittle long-haired girl in pink with pink shoes. She was surprised to see me.
I told her nicely not to frighten the cats. She ignored me the first time and asked me what I was doing. After I had explained to her satisfaction, I asked her again not to frighten the cats. I explained that it would be dangerous for the cat as they might get frightened and then run into the road and they might get killed by cars. She nodded her head and we spoke about FatBoy. I told her that FatBoy is a community cat and his ome is at the void deck of blk xxx. Just like her, he has a home also but unlike her, he has no mother etc. I thought if I appealed to her sense of sympathy for an orphan, she might be persuaded to take more care. :)
The girl then told me some horrid news that her friend had actually given FatBoy some food and then he threw a stone at him. WOAH! I then tried to get her to help me to explain to her friend that no one should throw stones at cats or any other animal. She nodded and told me she would tell him.
She then told me that she knows other feeders who feed FatBoy. Then I asked her if it was the old aunty, she said it was and added that the auntie had a dog called Bobby. So I guess the aunty would have told her to take care of the cats too. :)
I then went to clean up after Screaming Banshee and gave some more kibble to Little calico as she still sounded hungry. Then I heard stomping, giggling and meowing. I guess it would take more than a 10 minutes talk to get her to undertsand that she should behave better. her grandpa was no better as he did not tell her to be quiet around the cats. Sigh....

What's behind the Red door?

These series of pics are rather hazy because there is not enough light for my hp. But I thought the opportunity was too good to miss. Ms Akira and Toro had abit of a face-off right here. Actually it was Toro who once more came to the rescue of a fellow kitty in trouble. I was at the computer and I noticed that toro was sniffing and scratching at the door. I thought he was just being his usual high spirited and curious self. He continued scratching even at the door hinges. So I got up to look at what was behind the red door and like lightning, Ms Akira shot out and off she went into grandma's room. :) Ms Akira being rather chubby, actually got stuck behind the door and was unable to back-track as the space was tiny. Even though Toro is still sometimes very temperamental and still try to wrestle and intimidate everyone (Ms Akira included) , he has a warm and helpful side.

Toro relaxing after his supercat effort at rescuing a damsel.

Toro investigating the red door, trying to figure out what was behind it that Ms Akira was so interested in. He went in and out and sniffed and scratched. He finally decided that there was nothing of any particular interest and took a nap instead.
