Description
Milk Thistle for cats: Nature’s treatment for liver disease
Milk Thistle is a highly effective herbal remedy, well-known as an effective treatment for liver disease in cats, dogs and humans alike. It has no equivalent in conventional medicine.

The active ingredient in Feline Milk Thistle is called silymarin. It effectively:

- Prevents toxins from binding to the cat’s liver
- Helps the cat’s liver to regenerate
- Scavenges free radicals
- Stabilizes liver membranes

Milk Thistle also stimulates the production of new liver cells in cats, replacing damaged cells. It is an excellent restorative, any time your cat is ill. It supports her liver and helps her recovery. As an anti-oxidant, silymarin is even more effective than vitamin E.

Feline Milk Thistle helps combat the toxic side effects of drugs like:
- Chemotherapy drugs
- Chemical heartworm medications
- Antibiotics
- Corticosteroids
An all natural, herbal product, feline milk thistle is safe for long-term use.

There were also reviews from pet owners who had found milk thistle to be effective for their cats. However, it seems the liquid form is better than the pill form. How do I go about getting some for Megat? Megat is getting fibre from pumpkin which also regulates his bowels.

  1. the smell in liquid form may be off-putting, if megat can stand weird smell in his food then it's ok. but liquid form milk thistle is difficult to get in s'pore and cost is very high.

online ordering takes 2 weeks to arrive. one online website i always go to for the price, range and quality of products is iherb.com, it's a US site.

how about getting it in capsule form locally, sprinkle the contents into his food so he can eat it all the same. =)

I give my older cats Protectiver (Vits A,C,E & milk thistle) tabs daily. Liquid may be difficult to feed some cats. Yrs ago, I gave a liver supplement (red capsules) containing silymarin but forgot the brand name. If pet's ALT is very high, check for jaundice.
Sometimes it could be bad food that caused liver problems. 4-8wks ago, some of my cats did throw up/had diarrhoea on Nutro Salmon. I switched diet and cats were ok. I just threw away pkts of Nutro today.

I heard that milk thistle is the drinker's friend as it helps the liver to process toxins more efficiently ;)

BTW, cats' bowel problem is the bane of my existence. I put psyllium husks in my cats' food. If cat is constipated, i supplement with mashed pumpkin or papaya. Duphalac helps to soften the stools and if that still fails, a drug cisapride may help to push stools along lax system in old cats. At the rear end, Babylax or enema shd help.

Two of my old cats had megacolon and colectomy (surgery to remove colon) worked for them. Both cats have soft stools since and poo daily.

What is Poo? Lack of it causes sleepless nights and evidence of it in litter box brings smile. My life is indeed so sad.

  4. It certainly sounds interesting!

Some online retailers will ship anywhere in the world. It probably is more a matter of how strict customs are at your end for this type of product

If custom person calls (yr phone no is on purchase form), just refer him/her to purchase item website.
One local health store told me that milk thistle is available in powdered form or tea-leaf (for brewing into a cuppa) or tincture.

My dog was in total liver failure. Her skin and gums were the yellow of a banana peel.the vet said she would die within the night. My sister knew about milk thistle and suggested I try it I certainly have nothing to lose. the dog ended up with her liver purified even passing a liver functions blood test to the amazement of the vet is now uses mikk thistle/silymaril in his practice self.my neighbor had a similar situation with his cat got into some poison and use the milk thistle and the cat survived.that's two different occasions right actually seen it save an animal's life. You can get it in liquid form and just put it on the food you can get you mean grade for you can get it from pet shops or health food store or anywhere they sell vitamins. It is an amazing wonderful natural herb. Can't recommend enough and it's safe. Always check with your vet but if he's not familiar with it its okay to use like I said it's very safe and extremely effective.
