San brought me to the vet yesterday as she was worried that I had not put on much weight. But after some tests the vet told her that I had kidney issues and I am only 5 years old. My creatinine was 2.7 and my urine was not as concentrated as the vet would like. The vet recommend dry kidney diet as he said I should put on weight first and a wet diet does not allow me to gain any weight. San thought perhaps a combination might be the answer and she would discuss this with the vet tomorrow when Sky goes for her annual checkup as well.
That's strange to me, Momo, as kidney problems usually need as much moisture as possible to help the kidneys do their job. It's true a wet diet may not add to the poundage but it provides the moisture needed. Do you drink a lot of water?
