The Promenade of Friendship

It is wise not to show your real selves in the Promenade of Friendship. Keep all rivalries under wraps and claws sheathed - at least until this parade is over. The 3 amigos walk around the mysterious white box to inspect and scrutinise it's very being (if possible). Round and round the mulberry bush is the way to go.

The 1st Inpection: The Litter Box

Detective B feels that since the big white box is new to the neighbourhood, it is his duty to inspect it first. You never know what might be in it. Detective B has read and heard much in the media about bags and containers being left in public places. He will be the first in and the last out as prescribed by the Manual of Inspections for Suspicious Containers [revised].

Detective B sniffed it, walked around in it and also peered over it. It seemed to be on the up and up...but wait, let's see the weight test. Detective B put all of his 6.4 kg down- a dead weight. He waited and meditated and contemplated. Nothing. Not even a tiny tick-tock can be heard.

Finally, Detective B decided that the coast is clear for the 2nd and final inspection. He decided that Sidekick T will do this. It will be his final test.

Unseen by Detective B (who was too busy sitting still and contemplating the state of a cat's life) Mdm A was lurking on the periphery. She has something up her sleeves. :+X

The Final Inspection: The Litter Box

Sidekick T is testing whether the new big white box is safe enough for him to use. Having inspected the edges with a fine-tooth comb, he decided that all is well. Sidekick T's full approval is always shown by the lazy lean-to style. All boxes must also pass the I-need-to-rest-my-chin-here test. Looks like its all A-OK. :))

[Little does he know what Mdm A has in store for him]

Mdm A and the Art of Self-Defence

The Panther Strike. Mdm A has perfected her panther strike pose from her ancestors. See the elegant stance of the hind legs juxtaposed by the intense yet relaxed pose of the forelegs. It is important that the tail be kept at the acute angle for the greatest balance. If you watch closely, Mdm A is also showing off her whirling-the- eyeball stare for those extra-special occasions when hypnotism of the enemy is called for.

The Stare-of-Death not to be confused with the whirling-the-eyeball stare. Only to be used in the crouching lotus position.

Laugh-the-enemy-in-his-face position #216. It is important that the tongue be used to its fullest effect and the ears pulled back. Once shown, the enemy will immediately realise that resistence is futile and he will be laughed at no matter what he does. An ounce of ridicule is worth a barrel of reprimands.

Mdm A had used all of her rainy sunday to perfect these tai - chi stances. She is now well-equipped to fight her arch enemy Sidekick T to the very end. Good Luck Mdm A.

New Litterbox

This is the storage container that I am going to use as a litterbox for the boys. It measures 25 inches across and about 18 inches high on all sides. It is going to fit quite snugly in the bathroom but at least I would get less litter flying out from the 3 sides. I have taken the rollers off as I am not sure they would appreciate a moving latrine :)

They have taken turns examining it and have begun to ignore its presence. This is good as they do not feel threatened by the new big white box. I only need to cut out the door that would allow everyone to enter and exit easily. Probably I have to put some of that strong tape people use to cover wires on the newly cut edges so they don't get hurt when they use the new box.

Which means I have to lug it to work tomorrow so I can use some of the sharp stuff :)) at work to cut out the door. It should be okay. We will have to see what tomorrow brings. :)

Mother's Day

Today is mother's day so as a good mother I had given all the kitties a good bath using the greentea wet wipes and cleaned Toro's ears. His ears are now much cleaner, just some faint brown stuff and not the heavy gunk that used to be in it.

They now smell of sweet greentea...hahaha. The neighbour's daughter asked me why my cat doesn't smell like a cat? I wonder what that is supposed to smell like - maybe fish. Hmmm.... but greentea is so much better.

I am going to the store where they sell all kinds of houseware in LP. Yesterday I saw that they had the big white plastic bins that I can use to replace the litter bin for Bujang and Toro. Bujang has outgrown this bin. It was the largest I could find from the pet store. I have been to many other pet stores and they all tell me that there is nothing bigger. Bujang spends so much of his time clawing at the plastic to bury his poo and pee. Since he is also very fond of digging, all the bits of litter usually come flying out of the bin. Toro is also outgrowing the bin with his fur and bushy tail.

I'll just get someone to help me cut out the front where the cats would be going in and out. I hope it will work out.

Then I would really have to complete all the work that I have brought home to do but didn't do as I have spent all Friday and Saturday hanging out with the amigos. :))

Dinner time at the Amigos

For added fibre and a good coat I have a teaspoon of oat bran, brewers yeast and lecithin. Then it's some wet food, whether chicken or tuna or sardines and mackeral. I know that fish is not a cat's natural food but fish is all my cats would eat and some chicken of course.

Akira eats on the table.

Toro eats under the table.

Bujang eats on top of the dryer. There is no way they can eat all in a row at the same space. There would be a great deal of food stealing and swatting, not to mention furtive looks all around. In this arrangement, everyone gets to eat in peace. Posted by Picasa

A bit of love goes a long way

The sombong community calico decided that she wanted some scritching and scratching on her head. She head butted me several times and when I didn't react, she decided that she needed to show me how it is done in no uncertain terms. She ate 3/4 of the canned food I gave her and then she stayed with Bujang and me for a while. She made some nervous moves when she heard loud footsteps and children's voices. Even Bujang was nervous but he relaxed abit when I spoke to him. I was waiting for the grey tabby but he didn't appear so we went home.

Rainy Days

The day has been dark and gloomy. The amigos spent the whole day sleeping and looking out the windows for a glimpse of sun and then going to bed again. Even Bujang did not feel like walking in the park. We arrived at the usual time and he walked out. After about 5 minutes he made a quick turn and went back into his carrier and folded his legs under him. I think he doesn't like the feeling of wet grass under his feet. I waited 5 minutes before leaving for home.

Look Ma! No hands

This is Toro in his various disguises. In here he is pretending to be a door jamb or maybe a stuffed toy. I havent been able to figure this out yet. He likes to lie this way at the corner of every door in the house. Maybe he's just eccentric.

Addiction

As expected the amigos did not touch the Solid Gold. I put it in their bowls for the night feed but when morning came, all the bowls looked untouched. I told them that since they survived the night without eating, then I won't be giving them the night feeds anymore. They all looked at me with their orange eyes and one pair of blue calmly. Then I gave them all their usual Nutro fare whch they promtly ate noisily. I think I will give the feeder the Solid Gold to feed her other cats. I'm sute they would all appreciate it :)))
