Sleepy Cat Sunday

Bujang spending time with me...sleeping...

Tanaka getting cosy in the basket...he wrestled Megat to be here and succeeded...

Megat sitting pretty on grandma's sofa...his leg is still as bare as before...

Toro sleeping his Sunday away on the amigo table...

The scratches are all the result of amigo action. They love sliding on the table, so grandma decided that they could have the table since they loved sliding on it so much.

Ms Akira taking time off from scaring Megat and Tanaka.

I have stopped giving Ms Akira the Bach Remedy for aggression as instead of making her calmer,
she is getting really aggressive. This is rather strange as the Remedy is supposed to make her calm. When she was hiding out from the boys, I gave her the remedy as she would sometimes snarl at them. I noticed that after the remedy, she would actually come into the living room and sit with us. She was getting more and more like her old self and so I bought a 2nd bottle. After 2 months, she became more aggressive and would snarl and hiss at the boys, except Bujang. She would sometimes lie in wait for them to finish their meals (which was nice of her) but as soon as they are done, she would jump on them, snarling like a super banshee. She would even slap them and run after them right into the living room. So I gave her another remedy for Calmness for the past week. I have seen some positive behaviour, like her not jumping on Megat and yesterday, she was actually sitting on the amigo table with Megat right infront of her and she did not even bat an eye.

Blogskin

Ya. I had made several decisions about the blog skin this weekend as cat_aunty rightly pointed out :) and decided on this very bright and cheery green one. It is just nice to be able to make a change I think. I agree with cat_aunty that this looks more cheery.

Foot loose ...

Let go of my foot san...The vet said 7 days only...

Top view of his hurt foot...not so bad...

Front view...worse I think...

The vet advised that I put the meds for 7 days. Last Friday was the 7th day and I had not tried to do anything else to his foot since. Today I thought I should check it and from the top, it looked quite ok. However I decided to take some pictures and saw that the wound did not look quite as pink as I thought it should. Maybe I should go back to the vet just to be sure. I haven't made up my mind yet but most probbaly if it does not close up, I will see the vet next week.
On the good side, Bujang is his old self, jumping up on tables and sometimes harassing Toro at night. His appetite is healthy, he eats his share of grass and he walks as well as before. Maybe I am just too anxious.

Is it a bird?

Quiet thoughts by the window...

A bird flew by and suddenly...

A little predator in a kitty collar!

Thanks Tanaka but no thanks

Hmm..what's this? what's this?

KILL!

Tanaka was busy trying to help me wrap up a present until he saw the little butterfly. WHAP! And the butterfly went flat. Thank goodness I could resusitate it very quickly and all became right again. Thanks Tanaka but next time, there is no need to help :)

Training

I don't see why I need to do as san says...I am a cat!

I have been trying to persuade Tanaka and the boys that 3 is not a crowd to little success. 3 days in a row, I had put Tanaka with Bujang and Toro so they could all find a place to sleep in the room. Tanaka is still too young to rest and relax and Toro gets very unsettled whe Tanaka is around. He growls and screams and scolds me at every turn. Tanaka of course tried to bully him into playing but Toro is quite used to our routine and did not care for Tanaka's routines at all. It was interesting that Bujang was not at all involved in the dramatics and Tanaka did not even try to get near Bujang at all :)
Finally I had to put Tanaka back in his green quarters as Toro started scratching on the door, begging to be let out. He must really be desperate! But I will perservere and continue until I can get the 3 boys to sleep peacefully, each in his own space, in the room. But it is going to take some doing!

What happened to you Megat?

This week I had had to put a litter pan in Megat's night cage as he had begun to pee in his night cage when I put him to bed. This was a great surprise to me as he had always managed to keep it under control. Grandma thinks its because I had placed a fleece blanket in his night cage, a thick one. It tranpired that the next day when we let him out in the early morning he had already done his business and the fleece blanket was wet. Then I decided to wash everything and put the usual bedding for him but he continued peeing. So I decided that he should have his own pan, like Tanaka in case he has to go :) This has worked out well for the both of us except that now I have to clean one more litter pan before I go to work but I figured that if he needs it, then its only fair that I allow him one especially now that he is 11 years old.
So since his old night cage is now too small, what with the litter pan, I got him a bigger one so he could pee at his own time and still get to stretch his old bones. Its a purple chinchilla cage and I'm sure he would like it. It will be here some time next week so Megat just has to be contented to sleep in his little corner of his sleeping quarters until then :)

Sleepy Sunday

Rocket is gelling well with the amigos. He has even learnt the amigo trick of sleepy sunday. Here he is showing us what a clever boy he is :)

Life is like that...

Bujang seems to tell us that life is unpredictable but we must be prepared to face the unexpected. I think my lesson from this experience is always trust my instinct and follow it. Grandma's lesson is be prepared. Today grandma had some bad news but she was prepared and so was not taken by surprise. We all wish grandma would feel better soon.

When it rains on Saturday

I spend the day like any cat...I sleep...zzzzz....

Saturday Investigations

Ms Akira came to visit me and to have a look around the old place ...
Bujang decided he would just have to look into Tanaka's sleeping quarters just in case there is something lurking about ...like food...

Where are you Rocket Tanaka?

Hmmm..who is under the mattress?

Huh!!! What are you doing here Rocket?

The Rocket Experiment.

Bujang on Saturday

Bujang showing us that no matter what happens, he is still as flexible s before...

He is now participating in family life as usual..or rather sleeping as usual..in his favourite places instead of sequestering himself in the room...
This is what his paw looks like today. It is not as bad as it looks as it is now pink and clean. I managed to clean it as well as put the antiseptic powder on it by myself today. Bujang did not protest too much. We had been cleaning it and putting the antiseptic powder on it for 4 days already and he had taken all his antibiotics to date :)

His nail is growing sharper by the day...

On Good Friday...

I am thankful that all the boys were hanging out together..except Megat who was in bed and therefore not in this picture:)

Tanaka and Bujang spending quality time together...

Even Ms Akira came out to feel the sunshine...

Bujang up on the cat scatcher with hardly a care for his hurt paw...so I guess his paw was not hurting already...

Rocket Tanaka taking a breather... He is increasingly fond of sitting right in front of the door. Toro is always willing to give him a share of his favourite spot. They can sometimes be found sitting here watching the world go by together...

Megat in bed and away from the fray...

After the vet

No..I do NOT like that...

Good News:

I brought Bujang to the vet's yesterday and Dr L said he has a little infection. That was why he had the fever I guess. It was only then that I had a good look at his paw. It looked a little scary but the she assured me that it was just a little mis-snip on F's part. He protested only once when she cleaned his paw and put some antiseptic powder on it. The assistant 'sayang-ed' him for a bit and then it was all over. The vet asked me if it was possible for me to give him antibiotics. I assured her that it would be easier to give him pills than for me to clean his paw as he doesn't take such ministrations kindly.

Anyway I have to make sure I clean his paw and put his antispetic powder twice a day. He needs to take his antibiotics twice a day too. This morning I managed to give him his pill, squirt some cleaning solution but not powder. This evening he had one pill, had his paw cleaned and Cousin R helped me with the powder. He was more cheery today and walked about quite well although now he is sleeping on grandma's bed. When all is not so right with the world, grandma would surely help you :)

Not so good news:

The old aunty came up late tonight and told me she had been feeding a small black kitten. After some questions, I found out that she had been feeding him for a few days and he seemed well. As he was not in any danger, I told her she should continue to take care of him. She wanted me to take him in but I had to tell her that I am not able to do any such thing. She asked me if I had any friends who would take him in. The only friend I had who would do this had already taken in the little Siamese kitten :(. She also has a naughty and rather unruly cat, Bujang's brother, called Moo Moo. So that is not a good avenue. So the old aunty agreed to just look after him as he is perfectly safe where he is and later when the timeis right, I would bring him to the vet for neutering.

Fever!

Grandma was very worried about Bujang not wanting to eat breakfast and his general lethargy. He ate some grass though and then he had something to eat at about 3 pm as well as dinner. So I do not think he was depressed about anything. However we think he is running a little fever as his ears are a little hot . He limps a little but he is putting his hurt leg which is a little swollen on the ground. I know he is in a little pain although his wound did not look as serious as it did on Saturday.
I am bringing him to the vet tomorrow evening as it is the only slot that they had. I could have brought him to another vet I guess but it would be better to have the same clinic if not the same vet. Our only comfort is he is still using his leg and he has since gotten out of the bedroom and is now in the living room with me.

Sleepy Sunday

Too much work, I am too tired to even say goodnight...

Bujang's sunday

Hello sunday...zzzz

Bujang's foot is looking better...

Bujang's sunday was just a long expanse of sleep and grass-eating. I don't know why he spent so much of the day in the bedroom by himself. Maybe he wanted some quiet away from Rocket. But it is only now, at 8.50 pm, that he is out and sleeping on the TV console with the rest of the boys.

Sunday laze-in

Afternoon sit-ins..
It is good to see that Megat is picking up the threads of being in the amigo house. It took him 15 months to finally get here in the bright afternoon. He has also gotten up the courage to look out into the corridor and sit in the middle of the living room by himself (okay under the table).

Goodnight Saturday

or maybe Good Morning Sunday...
Tanaka getting ahead of himself... :)

Megat at the groomers...

Look at me today...

Even my back looks nice...

I had a good day at the groomer's today.
I am sorry Bujang's day was not so good.

I brought Megat and Bujang to F as it was time for a bath. Megat came out nice and smelled sweet. He looked much improved. Grandma thinks he looks nice too and more importantly, he smelled like fabric softener - her favourite fragrance :)

Please can I not go?

Toro crying and asking me not to send him to the groomer after Bujang's bad day...

Wounds inside and outside

Bujang sleeping his bad grooming day away...

Time out...

Leave me alone Toro!

His hurt nail and paw...

Hindsight as they say (whoever they may be) is the real teacher. Bujang went to the groomers this morning as I thought it was time for him to take a bath. His last bath was on Hari Raya. I brought him to F as usual as F is the only one who Bujang does not hate enough to hurt badly. She has been his groomer since he was 6 months old! I told F that there was no need to cut his nails if she could not. She said she would try and if she could not, she would not. So with that, I left him to his groomer only to be told one hour later that there was a little accident and Bujang had hurt himself.
He was his usual temperamental self and he had hooked his claw onto the bars of his cage and so had hurt himself. F said she had stopped the blood and went on with the business of bathing him. She had managed to cut all his nails which was quite unbelieveable as he would almost always be on the defensive and no one has ever managed to do this. Before F would need about 3 other people to help her and I know that B could not manage it even with 2 other men!
When I went to get him F said she would not let him see his hind paw (which was to be expected) but he was very calm in his carrier and only meowed once. He would not even let me see it when we got home, preferring to administer his paw himself. Since he was not limping or did not seem to be in any pain, I left him to it eventhough I saw that his paw had horrible stains. He sat and continued to lick at his paw and after some time, he actually cleaned all the stains away and now it did not look as horrible as before.
I am sure he was in great pain before when he hurt himself and I feel badly when I see it. I think next time, I would just bring him to the vet as usual and have them trim his nails.
Anyway I will see how it goes for all of next week and bring him to the vet if it goes badly *cross fingers*
